This is interesting. Does he have another song?

JanethEze:
So I know that I have never posted anything about Gospel Music but this one really got my attention. It is a song that defines what most of us go through so when you watch this video, you will definitely relate to it.

My favourite part is at the 4th minute of the song where ... anyway, let me not spoil if for you. Why don't you watch and tell me what you think. wink wink

Watch and be blessed.

Is this current registration/application for 2017/2018 session or is there going to be another registration/application process in the course of the year? just curious to know because i just heard about this.

Also, this is a wonderful initiative. it will reduce the number of students in the classroom,on campus and even in the hostel. it is a good scheme for people working who don't have much time to go to classes, nursing mothers/housewife and those who would like to juggle professional exams with Masters etc. NUC and other universities should take a huge cue from this idea, especially with regards to PG courses that are mostly theoretical. with time, i know we will get there.

I think you should give them a call on these numbers 01-7000899 or 08080523171 so you can get the exact information.

It feels like a threat to their status as the local movers of tertiary education, and their source of income. But if their source of income is the preservation and stagnation of an old order that doesn't serve us any longer, then it's worth questioning.
The first move of the lobbyists was having degrees and certifications from MOOCs declared unacceptable within Nigeria. But degrees in courses taken abroad, whether by classroom presence of online presence, are acceptable. One might see it as a move to protect local educational institutions from unfair competition, but it's far from that.
Knowledge is a prerequisite for national development, and denying students such opportunities by covert means is no less a crime than exploiting their already limiting ignorance. And academia is not a component of society that should be bogged down with unnecessary bureaucracy.

I've had much progress educating myself by following MOOCs and other opportunities available on the internet, and I think any tertiary institution willing to de-emphasize profit maximization for a few semesters, for the growth of their staffs' and students' quality of learning, can learn from the model. I won't say exactly how since there are many possibilities.

Exactly! Knowledge is a prerequisite for national development, and denying students such opportunities by covert means is no less a crime than exploiting their already limiting ignorance. I wish they understood this, how will we become a great nation if our educational system is not innovative? sad

The new developments in education are shaking up the traditional premise of higher education within walled boundaries. Some tertiary institutions are responding defensively, while others are open to innovation. Thumbs up to ABU; I expect more from them and others.

You are right about Some tertiary institutions are responding defensively I can imagine all the old school professors being opposed to this.

In as much as I have nothing against the Nigerian system, not picking your calls goes to show the level of unhealthy student support system. So when you finally enroll into the program, how then will they support you to make your study experience worthwhile and for you to have value for the school fees you will pay.

In this 21st century there is a great shift towards customer satisfaction be it in the hospitals, schools, shopping malls, etc. And all these culminate into the support system of this various institutions.

It's very annoying, i know. I hate when they don't take custumer service seriously. I called them just now to ask for a friend and they picked. They also mentioned that they were having network issues last week.

I came across this thread on Nairaland talking about the first NUC Accredited E-Learning MBA (Masters in Business Administration) Programme > http://abudlc.edu.ng/

So basically you don't need to travel all the way to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to take their masters programme. All you need to do is register here > http://apply.abudlc.edu.ng/Account/Register?Length=7 Everything is online.

I personally applaud the Govt for taking this positive step in the right direction, just like when they made JAMB completely computer based. I feel like this will contribute immensely to our economy. I know that education is what will save this country and at least the govt is doing something to make it more accessible to people.

What do you guys think about it?

It is laughable that NUC barely after one year of publishing that online education and degrees are not acceptable in Nigeria, the same NUC went ahead and approved an online MBA at ABU Zaria.

It is the same moribund, old and non-IT-savvy professors of NUC (without any knowledge of technology disruptions) who has consistently frustrated the efforts of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). If not that Obasanjo understands the meaning of Grand Commander of Federal Republic (GCFR) who used his powers to make sure that the NOUN stands with all the legal and parliamentary backings. What is even more worrisome now is that these same professors have engineered all paraphernalia of the education sector to hinder NOUN graduates in the the Law programme to prevent them from going Law School in Nigeria. I know that in the UK & US, you can become a lawyer either by conventional route (educational) or vocational (practice-oriented) route.

But one thing is sure, technology will continue to change everything about our life, from education to healthcare, mobility (transportation), telecommunication, etc. The earlier Nigeria & Nigerian system understands this the better for this country.

Since Nigeria like to copy other countries, I will beg Nigeria, when copying, we should copy correctly. The UK that we copied almost everything we have lived by as a nation has left behind and we are wallowing in intellectual penury. The UK Open University Business School has a very high triple crown accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA) [http://business-school.open.ac.uk/executive-education] which is the highest level of accreditation for a Business School anywhere in the world. It is only Lagos Business School that has attained almost half of such international accreditation. What this means, is that Lagos Business School graduates can comfortably compete globally with other graduates from schools with such international accreditation. Meanwhile, the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is been suppressed not to see the light of the day by the stupid professors at NUC. No other school in Nigeria has such international accreditation, even the almighty and highly revered UI, Unilag, UNN, and other first generation Universities in Nigeria.

There is so much deficit in the education space, hence we need more IT-driven Online Distance Learning undergraduate and graduate programmes in Nigeria Universities. Countries like India understood the importance IT-driven education and are making good use of it to make for the country's education deficit.

Everybody is commenting that they interested in the online MBA from ABU Zaria because NUC approved it. In the working world, it is acceptable to have online degree, in fact, it is an extra edge if you can combine working and studying in so far as the school is accredited. Nigerians are busy doing online programmes that are accredited and companies recognize it, so ABU Zaria, your Online MBA is a very welcomed development but it came very late because the myopic policy makers don't think beyond today.

Hence, if NUC has woken up from their slumber and discovered lately that Education & IT are like Bread & Butter, then it is a good day for Nigerian education system. We need to begin investing in the IT Usage in Education. I will not forget the encounter I had with one of the Nigerian University's Professor; "a Professor of a Nigerian University do not know how to type plus-minus (±) in MS Word for a Research Paper he is typing".

A journey of one thousand miles begins with a step.

God bless Nigeria!!!

You have a point there but from their website, I think they are doing quite well. I believe they have haired IT Save People this time around.
