Apprehended for what exactly? She did not file a suit against him and courts did not charge the boy of not showing up for his hearing, so what apprehension are you talking of here? undecided

2. The courts do not need your or her help in that as the courts are equipped to handle that particular situation. Again, what this woman did using her clout is illegally arrest the man and his family members. undecided
it is a criminal offence the police are in best position to file in court with or without Toyin

Same narrative all the time

You open boarder for 6months the bulk breakers buy them off at the regulated prices and hoard, after 6months we go enter another shege banza stage that will lead to mass deaths from starvation

Oga, just control insecurities, give subsidy to farm chemical manufacturers and use local Government to provide equipment for mechanized farming at a subsidized prices and see food in surplus as many are now into farming

Enugu state now export pepper because there is improved participation of people into it.
If the govt can be sincere enough to do as they say, bro !! the flooding that will hit the market will be tew alarming for any cabal or enemies of the state to hoard ....
6 months is a very long period to stash up, the moment the pressure on local farmers reduce insecurity in the area will shockingly reduce .. we are our own enemies in these country

Tinubu is grasping at straws. He is seeking for any political goal to score as all his policies has failed Nigerians. He is trying to experiment if importation of rice and wheat will reduce hunger in short term, so he can atleast win something. But it's clear that's another ill-informed decision which will cause more anguish. The Lagos Fraudster politician, who appropriated Nigerians effort in Lagos as his own achievement, has failed to achieve anything positive since his ascendancy into power.
I am really curious as to how tax/import duty relieve on food importation will cause anguish ...

Celestialsword:
The governor's can ensure food security in their various states by embarking on massive farming projects
Agreed ! BUT Businesses function best when the people who know how to run them are left alone and government stays out of it.
A classic example is the Ukraine in 1932. Look it up, it’s called Holodomor. Ukrainian farmers had mastered their craft and were among the most productive food producers in the world. But because government was moving toward collective ownership, and of course government knows how to run farms, better than private citizens, the farms were taken over and the owners, who were the experts, were removed. Unfortunately government didn’t know the first thing about farming and 6 million people were killed and as many as 10 million more starved to death from the resulting famine.

What serious government do is provide an enabling environment and good security ... thats enough

Are some of you guys not even interested in questioning your state governors which should be the primary target
Is it the state govt that remove subsidy and float the naira

Do state governors have jurisdiction on the nations economic

We are talking food crisis and imsecurity, do state governors have the authority to declare state of emergency

With the present inflation rate on food items , opening the land borders, tax/duties relieve and lifting of bans are the only salvage measures to save the nation ... which one state governor get power to execute

.....u shld know is not oli nigeria dat is facing food crisis, our neighbouring country too are face with same bt at a lower level, we need to curb this food crisis from the root, just as i suggested farming is a serious bizness, their should be weekly report on big crop farm government gives interevntions to, this weekly report shoukd be open source i.e readily avaliable online for all to access, as per harvest, grains shld be sold to feed miller for poultry and fish feed produxtion directly , we are talking of large hectares of land , the private firm over time could be listed by the investment bank on share sales, for this to happen to build public comfidence the weekly report must be open source...with this the government can then control price of grains, a department in ministry of agriculture shld be created for this purpose..maybe named National Food Securtiy
If you admit other nations around are facing food crisis at lower level then you know they are liberty to supplement nigeria .. emphasis on "supplement"

From all indicationson the govt/securities forces are yet to find the best possible approach to curb insecurity however when are still busy racking their cocoanut head ... Nigeria is almost slipping away into major crisis ... a call for Emergency & short term measures to bring relieve.

As per your suggestion, what we need is not govt bankrolling or spoon feeding farmers ... Creating an enabling environment via policies, tax relieves and above all good Security is enough .. i might make it concised but all these takes long period esp. with the state of Nigeria and time is what we don't have
All these public announcement and update you think govt will want to bear that kind of cost cheesy is it really feasible considering naija govt nature
Bro we don't need govt controlling prices tew artificial, the best control is "competition and abundances" .. make they open land border and lift ban on grains & oil today i assure you before month end prices will crash so bad you will think dangote trailer bashed it
Politics › Re: Suspension Of Taxes On Imported Food Commodities Not Yet Official - Bayo Onanuga by chidiokay: 9:28am On Jul 09, 2024

Removing tax of food importation is not going to fix anything, it will plunge the country further into deeper mess, invest with private firm that produce crop, give then loan nd land , weekly progress report from rhe private firm farm report through open source online, everyone can have access to the report, the idea of sharing money with un known small farmer should be discourage..farming is a serious bizness...this idea to criticize govt without good suggestion, na we Nigerian go suffer am..Nairalander pls lets come up with a better soln for this govt, no one knows it all, from my observation atleast this govt dey listen wankind
what you are proposing how is it different from what the Govt have tried esp. under Buhari huh
What was Buhari intention to shut down borders and place ban on most imported food items If not to promote Local production ... 8yrs down the line any progress
The big Farms we have, prefer to export than even sell here locally ... it is complicated than theories & what should be

With the alarming rate of Inflation, the best approach is govt should open land borders and lift ban on grains on a short term until govt find a lasting solution to farmers insecurity

Land borders will ease the pressure on dollar demand/importation
Land borders importation will checkmate hoarding and market forces cabal operation
Land borders will reduce South dependants on North, as competition will crash prices

Removing tax/duties on importation will bring some relieve no doubts .. e go even reduce smuggling
