Romance › Re: Why Are Men In Their 30s Still Hesitant To Marry? by chidiokay: 8:18am On Apr 10, 2025
Mcslize:
Girls these days are all looking for Odogwu. The already made rich man they created for themselves in their dreams. Noone wants to build with any man.

But unknown to them, the rich ones are not even up to 10%. How they will all compete for such miniature percentage of rich men baffles me.

Instead of clamouring for a rich guy, a wise lady with wisdom will instead look out for a hard working and ambitious young man.

This is because a young man who is hard working and ambitious can become rich at any point in time. But common sense is far from most of them.

Which rich guy will harbour a liability who wasn't there when he got rich?

Fóolish bunch of delusionáls.
We keep reminiscing Women want rich men, what about men of this modern time who wants liability ... suffering impedes love

Tbh, its becuming stale to blame women for desiring riches.
if you are a woman naa poor man go be your choice

Those blaming here don't have up to 50k in their account. Real men marry. Just that they can't differentiate between a wife, mistress, maid and mother. The 4 are not the same and no wife should take the job of the other 3.

Unless they are ready to be sugar daddy, daddy, boyfriend and husband in one.
I look forward to knowing the woman that coined that word "Real men"

women dont just use that word except they want to manipulate,

Thats an abberation that you shouldnt be using to juxtapose cost of living

e.g If you were a student abroad and your parent are working in nigeria to pay your school fee ... will you say mom ! dad ! Nig. is paradise

That you are lucky and earning in dollars does not change the present reality of Nigeria or her currency .. its irrelevant

the minute you think you can use a foreign earning to juxtapose good cost of living in Nig .. minimum wage must bust your ears

Your story is once sided and sounds entitled.

Having a million naira (or more) in your account doesn't translate to you having enough money to give around. You should know that people have their own problems they're struggling to solve as well.

If you're the kind of person who lends money to friends regularly, you'll understand that most Nigerians don't pay back loans.

Many would even tell you to your face that you're doing better than them financially, you're driving a car and live well, and yet you still expect them to pay you back can't you even dash them the money, forgetting that they were the ones who went into the agreement of paying back.

They'll see you as a stingy and wicked person. Some would even vow behind your back never to pay you back. This is why most people just give you an amount they can afford to let go whenever you ask them for money. So even if you chose not to repay them back, they won't feel it.

No one owes you anything in this life. The moment you condition yourself to live that way, you won't live your life expecting people to always come to your rescue, and getting angry when they don't.
Ofcus the story is One-sided, buh coming from a guilty conscience makes the story credible enough ..

Having over a 1m in account and your friend needing just 50k barely 5% of your account not even net worth means you are over eligible to help

As far as this case is concern you have a 50k to throw away and you wont even feel it,

We all have problems but problem pass problem your own need my be 20m but a friend net problem is just 100k ... nothing stops you from blessing that friend, make e leave God alone to attend to you cheesy

Entitlement is not as Evil as our Generation try to promulgate, why are we friends if i cant ask you for help or you dare not ask me

We all have our stories of ingrate friends, But thats clearly not the story of today.

Nobody owes you anything 100% but no man is an island ... even dangote go get people e dey call for favours

Why exactly are people cursing this man? Why don't you refute his statements? I pay more than N600k every month in utilities abroad per month, N3.2M in mortgage for one house alone per month, I will never pay 20% of that in Nigeria. You people never see anything good in your country. Between August last year and February this year, I was paying about N6m per month in mortgages which included an empty house under renovation. You want me to tell you how much I pay in taxes per month?

Abroad go bill you like crazy, Imagine your own house in Naija with no mortgage and a 24hour solar light? O boy, Naija na paradise on earth I swear.
Oga your school fee was total waste of Money,
How can you use worthless naira currency to justify your cost of living abroad

Dont convert to naira, tell us the minimum wage of Us, how much you earn and lets weigh it to your re-expenditure

If you think naija naa paradise come back home and be making 6m ... yeye people

using dollar to juxtapose naira economic is better is the height of illiteracy

The guy started complaining that he can't be paying huge some for electricity, asking rheotorical questions like should NEPA bill in a years be more than house rent, I aggresively told him you can even pay a month bill equivalent to your 1 year house rent if you have heavy appliancens that consume energy so well. Ever since that day, I have never heard the sound of his AC's compressor again.
Maybe energy is expensive But not as Expensive as people like you try to promulgate

SmartEnergyng:
Ah, “feigning stupidity,” you say? Fascinating choice of words—from someone who's working overtime to pretend **complexity is ignorance**.

Let me flip it back at you: maybe the only one **“feigning intelligence”** here is the one who walks into a nuanced economic debate and expects every answer to come gift-wrapped with applause lines and short-term miracles.

But let’s take your points—since we’re here for clarity, not clapbacks.

📌 **Point 1: “Anyone can have a PhD. Intelligence lies in impact.”**

True. And that’s precisely why **your argument collapses on itself**.

Because when someone with that much education and experience spends his time simplifying policy for public understanding, he’s doing exactly what *impactful economists* are supposed to do—**translating complexity into clarity.**

Impact isn’t always building a dam. Sometimes, it’s helping a country walk through the storm **without losing its sense of direction**.

Fasua has:
- Advised the presidency during one of the most difficult economic transitions in decades.
- Helped draft policy that prioritizes **internal production over external illusions**.
- Spent years creating jobs through SME development, running businesses, and mentoring entrepreneurs—real people, real jobs.

That’s tangible. Maybe not flashy. But **real work rarely comes with confetti.**

📌 **Point 2: “You shouldn’t compare $1 with ₦1,500. Compare the lowest unit of both currencies.”**

I see you’re reaching deep into the bag of analogies—but you’ve pulled out the **wrong scale**.

This is where your logic breaks down:

In economics, **purchasing power parity (PPP)** doesn’t compare coins. It compares **value in terms of what you can buy locally**. You don’t compare a dime to a kobo—you compare **how far a person’s money goes in each country**.

So no, we don’t compare ₦10 to 10 cents. We compare **what ₦1,500 can buy in Nigeria vs what $10 can buy in the U.S.**

That’s the whole point Fasua was making. The fact that you missed it doesn’t make him stupid—it just shows **you came to a chess match swinging a frying pan.**

📌 **Point 3: “Highlight one real, relatable impact of Tope Fasua’s work.”**

Let’s try:
- Championing economic literacy across TV, print, and podcasts in a country where misinformation runs wild.
- Supporting SME policy frameworks and entrepreneurship as a private sector actor.
- Helping shape **non-theoretical, boots-on-ground policy advice** that supports long-term reform—whether you like the reforms or not.

But here’s the real irony: you ask for **"tangible impact"** while contributing nothing but **tangible bitterness**.

If policy must be shouted or sponsored by Hollywood before you recognize it, then maybe **you’re not actually looking for impact—you’re looking for theatre.**

---

✅ **Final Word:**

You don’t have to like Fasua. You don’t have to agree with him.
But let’s stop pretending that a man offering honest, accessible policy insights during a tough time is the villain—while those who gave us cosmetic economics are suddenly heroes in hindsight.

As we say, *“If you break the drum that carried you to the dance floor, don’t complain when the music stops.”*

Don’t knock the man cleaning up the mess just because **you preferred the illusion that made the mess look pretty.**
When you have meaningful contributions backed with results .. prevarications won't be a lifeline ... are you a poet

Before you misconstrue my context, Maybe Nigerians have outgrown "applaud lines" and we all agree naa only Jesus "Miracle" no dey taya ... so your interpretation is just a mischief

If Tope intention is to simplify economic policies then he did an awful job, cos both the elites & illiterate dont buy the wack analysis he gave, a mere common sense who have flawed Tope pov, how do you justify a worst performing currency

lemme ask, is Tope really about the people or he is trying to earn his pay, Nigerians are not fool naw
i tried to leave the messenger and dwell on the message

If Fisua had advised the govt at our most challenging time, so what depict the economic is out of challenging times, give one tangible result to validate, please

Between you and I, what are the indexes that portray prioritized local production so far ... have productivity increased cheesy where??

Thats you own bo'lè kaja economic, In standard economic purchasing power btwn two nation is guaged purely on "minimum wage" it an abberation to use $ to juxtapose cost of living a country with valuless currency

Yoruba adage says, Oun ti o ba jora la"fin wey ará wòn i.e compare whats alike

Pick Us lowest currency and compare with Nigeria lowest currency, highest vs highest thats the logical scale or go minimum wage

Everything you said about Tope resonates paper works that never transcend beyond illusions, since you cant place the results
Politics › Re: $1 Buys A Meal In Nigeria, But $10 Won’t Fix The Economy: A Reality Check by chidiokay: 9:27am On Apr 07, 2025
SmartEnergyng:
It’s one thing to critique policy. That’s fair game in any democracy.
But to discredit someone’s competence based on a surface read of their CV? That’s not analysis—it’s academic snobbery dressed in lazy thinking.

First, let’s get the facts straight.

**Tope Fasua is not just a “commercial banker.”/b] He holds degrees in Economics from institutions like the London School of Economics, earned a **PhD in Public Policy & Administration**, and is a fellow of several professional bodies. He has written extensively on economic reform, public finance, development economics, and policy architecture. That alone already puts him miles ahead of many “theoretical economists” whose only engagement with Nigeria’s economy is through Twitter threads and textbook quotes.

Second, your argument reveals a misunderstanding of what **an economic adviser to the president** is supposed to do.
It’s not about drawing equations on a board or quoting Amartya Sen on TV—it’s about **understanding fiscal policy, interpreting data in real time, communicating strategy clearly, and advising on implementation in a complex, imperfect system**. And on those fronts, Fasua has demonstrated more depth and clarity than many of his peers.

Third, dismissing him as someone “putting out fires” for his boss is rich—coming from people whose own fire is often just Twitter rage and echo-chamber retweets, without the burden of actually solving anything.

Being “into developmental economics” isn’t a badge you wear—it’s a mindset applied to real policy issues. And if you bothered to read his work instead of skimming a resume like a lazy recruiter, you’d know he’s done plenty of that.

As we say, “A man who judges a book by the cover often misses the wisdom in the pages.”

So next time, come with a real critique. Not this shallow take that couldn’t pass an entry-level debate class.
I dont know you but i am more disappointed in you, @least we know why Fisua is feigning "Stupidity"

Anybody can have degree, phd and whatever But true intelligences lies in " Real impact" ... fasua might have written more on economic reforms But please highlight One real impact traceable to his works

Forget academic resume, No sensible person will compare the lowest unit to highest unit, $1 is the lowest currency of Us

America lowest currency cant buy meal anywhere in Us, how about Nigeria lowest currency lets use #10, can it buy any meal .... thats the logical scale to juxtapose

Seems you know Tope well, highlight Tope's works relatable to "tangible impacts" so far
