The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board has closed the 2016 admissions to all federal and state universities, its Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, said on Thursday.

He, however, announced an extension of admissions to polytechnics, monotechnics, colleges of education and private universities.

He said, “All tertiary institutions and the general public are hereby informed that the 2016 admissions exercise into public universities closed on Wednesday November 30, 2016. However, the minister of education has approved an extension of two weeks (from December 1 to December 15, 2016) for all polytechnics, monotechnics, colleges of education and private universities.

“All institutions concerned are advised to promptly process their recommendations to JAMB within the approved period.”

As JAMB prepares for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, Oloyede said, all owners of computer-based test centres had been invited to apply online for accreditation.

He said, “The CBT centres are invited to attend a meeting on Tuesday December 13, 2016. To attend this meeting interested CBT centre owners are to register. The registration closes by 12.00pm on Monday December 12, 2016.”

Oloyede advised the public to disregard all websites and social media accounts posing as sales agents for 2017 UTME.

“JAMB has not commenced the sale of the 2017 UTME application forms and has not appointed and will not appoint any agent/or cybercafé as its agent. The public is advised to beware of fraudsters. JAMB advises all candidates to always visit its website on for registration and other necessary information. We call on all patriots to support JAMB in enhancing access to and equity in tertiary education in Nigeria,” he said.

Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan denied reports that he wasthe “grand patron” of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) militant group.

Jonathan gave a comment to a correspondent of Sahara Reporters in Zambia.

This became necessary as a splinter group, The Reformed Niger Delta Avengers, released a list of militants’ sponsors on Saturday, August 6.

The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) group has claimed responsibility for multiple bombings and acts of vandalism on pipelines and oil facilities, starting from the end of May 2016.

The Fulani Herdsman yesterday 18th June, 2016 attacked the people of Logo Local Government in Benue state again.

The herdsmen attacked a village killing a whole family in Ugondo, Nenzev council ward in logo local government of Benue state.

Benue State house of Assembly member representing Logo local government Hon. Dr Terna-Kester Kyenge who visited the mortuary as the corpse were brought, consoled the crowd that rushed to witness this inhuman act.

Kyenge also promised to report the sad incident to appropriate authorities for immediate action.

This is not the first time the Fulani herdsmen will attack the people of Benue state, we are yet to get over the Agatu and Buruku massacre and this one again?
The people of Benue state should rise and defend their fatherland.... We can't take it any longer.

This is certainly not the best times for Popular musician Korede Bello as he is currently having problem with his lecturers.

The Mavin records act who recently had his matriculation for his Higher National Diploma (HND), at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) has been warn by his lecturers not to participate in the forthcoming exam.

Noniwap.com grapevine gathered that Korede Bello’s lecturers have threatened to resign if the singer is allowed to write his exams because he has not met up with 70% of his class attendance for the semester.

The source also added that the one of his lecturers in his class disclosed that he will resign if Korede Bello is allowed to sit for his exams later this year because he has not been attending lectures due to his busy schedule.

It will confirm what is already known that it is hard to combine a teeming music career with schooling. The likes of Wizkid and Olamide have had to drop out while they pursued their careers.

The lawyer of Nnamdi Kanu, director of Radio Biafra, Vincent Obetta has denied reports that his client apologized to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Report had surfaced that Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) apologised to President Buharifor referring to him as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile in his radio broadcasts.

The apology was reportedly contained in a statement which the 48-year-old pro-Biafran agitator made available to the DSS on October 23.

Speaking on Wednesday, December 30, Obetta said it was impossible that Kanu tendered an apology, The Cable reports.

According to him, the report was an indication that the government was trying everything possible to destroy Kanu’s defence.

“The government is using every instrument to puncture what we are doing,” he said.

Kanu has been in the Department of State Services (DSS) detention over charges of treason and other ancillary offence.

A chief magistrate court sitting in Wuse zone 2, Abuja, had earlier discharged him on all counts of criminal conspiracy and ownership of an unlawful society brought against him by the federal government.

During his arraignment at a Federal High Court in Abuja on December 23, Kanu had made an objection, saying he had no confidence in the court to give an order and have the authorities follow it, asking the court to leave him in detention.

In his ruling, Justice Ahmed Mohammed said he sees nothing wrong in the defendant’s objection. He also excused himself from the case against Kanu.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has extended the timeline for Nigerian bank customers in the Diaspora to enroll for their Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) to January 31, 2016.
This is contained in a statement by the Bank’s Director, Corporate Communications, Mr Ibrahim Mu’azu, released on Monday in Abuja.
It explained that the extension was to enable the customers in Diaspora to complete the enrollment as well as link the BVN to their respective accounts. It also stated that the extension was only for customers in the Diaspora and advised Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) to ensure that the exemption was utilised by the targeted group only.
