Lagos Based MFM FC will host Enugu Rangers in Agege on Friday night, this will be the first Friday Night Football of the season, the home side has been in good form this season winning 3 and losing just once in their last 5 games. Rangers have not been consistent enough this season and they will want to get something from this encounter. It promises to be a great one... Watch out for it!

Akwa United who have been impressive at hone lately will play host to Abia Warriors, the visiting team's recent performance us nothing to write home about, picking four points from their last 5 games. The match will host on Saturday by 4PM.

And the other match on Saturday is a South West derby as Shooting starts of Ibadan will play host to Remo Stars, we will definitely know the real stars from this game. Abia Warriors defeated Katsina United by 2 goals to nil in their second game of the season as well as their second win.

Akwa United and Rivers United's game finished with a 1 - 1 scoreline.

Gombe won their first home game of the season against newcomers, Remo Stars; their second defeat in 2 games.

Ifeanyi Ubah won impressively by a 4 - 0 scoreline against matchday 1 sensation, MFM. It was a victory well deserved after the home's team poor show in Kano.

Lobi Stars also recorded a win against Kano Pillars.

Nasarawa United could only get a draw at home against Enugu Rangers.

Niger Tornadoes could not beat stubborn ABS at home, as the match end in a draw.

Plateau United were impressive as they beat Enyimba by 3 goals to 1.

And Sunshine Stars of Akure also defeated Shooting Stars of Ibadan by a lone goal.



Plateau United and Abia Warriors still have their 100 percent record after 2 games, they are followed on the log by ABS and Rivers United who has 4 points each and make up the top four.

The second game on the Nigeria premier league season will hold on Wednesday 18th of January 2017.

Abia Warriors will look to capitalize on their away win when they take on Katsina United who also won their first game 2 - 1.

Akwa United will want to get to winning ways, when they receive Rivers United that already has one win on the opening day.

Elsewhere, El Kanemi will also want to get the full 3 points at home as they welcome Wikki Tourists.

Gombe United Football Club received with shock the news of the brutal murder of Douglas Uzama in Benin City, Douglas has been a dedicated player with our club and we feel pained by his demise and the circumstances that led to his untimely death. The rate of killings of innocent souls in Nigeria is reaching an alarming stage; we mourn the untimely and grim murder of Douglas Usama.



Douglas Uzama was a promising young footballer, he has played for the National team at the Under-17 and Under-20 categories. He nursed the dream of playing at the very top, for some thugs to brutally take his life at this stage of his career means the life of an ordinary Nigerian is at risk day in day out, it speaks a lot on the spate of insecurity within us.

Our thoughts and condolences go to the family of the deceased. May the Almighty give them the fortitude to bear this monumental tragedy. Condolence also goes to his team mates, in particular, and the entire nation's football family, in general. As we comprehend this loss, our prayers should go to the bereaved family.

We are hereby calling on the security forces to hunt for Douglas Uzama's murderers and bring them to book. They should be made to pay for this dastardly act and shall never be allowed to go scot free. The entire landscape in Nigeria has been blighted by the endemic twin evil of crime and violence, these need to curtailed, the bloody killers of Douglas Uzama must be apprehended.
