Music producer Samklef has stated that Wizkid’s success in the music industry has given students a reason to quit school to pursue music.

Samklef revealed that he will be releasing a documentary that details how some Nigerian artistes have neglected school for music after Wizkid’s global success.

He explained that artistes like Dammy Krane and Flow Sick left school to pursue their music careers.

The documentary also touches on how  Wizkid inspired Afrobeats revolution in Nigeria.

Manchester United are considering a move for former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can in January, BenupdateNews understands.

The 25-year-old Germany midfielder spent four seasons at Anfield before leaving on a free to join Italian club Juventus at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

After a decent start to life in Turin, making 29 appearances in the Serie A last season, Can appears to have fallen out of favour under new head coach Maurizio Sarri.

It is understood Juventus would want in the region of £35m for the former Bayern Munich midfielder.

A Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court sitting in Abuja has sentenced Akeem Oluwafemi Akanni to one-month imprisonment with an option of N20, 000 fine over impersonation and deceit to obtain money by false pretence.

Akanni, it was gathered, met his waterloo when he falsely presented himself as an officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to Abdullahi Idris, a staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Kaduna.

The anti-graft spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren said this in a statement in Abuja.

He explained, “Early this year the convict, while posing as an EFCC officer, attempted to obtain a sum of N300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira) from Idris ostensibly to assist him “KILL A CASE FILED AGAINST HIM”, an action which contravenes Section 95 of the Penal Code, laws of the Federation of Nigeria (Abuja) 1990 and punishable under Section 322 of the same law.

“The defendant pleaded guilty after the charges were read to him”.

Presiding Justice I.O. Musa, therefore, in his judgment, sentenced him to one-month imprisonment with an option of fine based on the plea bargain agreement between the parties.

Students of Adekunle Ajasin University on Monday blocked roads to protest the increase in the school’s tuition fees announced last week.

The school announced fee raises last week, with students expected to pay 500 per cent higher than previous fees.

The students took their march to the streets on Monday and blocked major roads in Akungba Akoko, Ondo State.

The students union president, Ijanusi Olawale, told PREMIUM TIMES that protests would be held in various states such as Oyo, Osun, Lagos and many others.

“We believe the state is largely occupied by masses with nothing. 500% increment is too much and highly inhumane. The government is autocratic. They should reverse the fees if they don’t want touts littering the streets,” he said. Read more below:

The Arndale shopping centre in Manchester has been taken over by security operatives after reports of stabbings on Friday.

According to the BBC, the UK ambulance service was treating four people after the incident at the Arndale shopping centre in Manchester, UK.

Five people have been stabbed and counter-terrorism police are leading the investigation, British police said in a statement.

“We are on the scene, we are treating four patients,’’ a spokeswoman at the North West Ambulance Service said.
Manchester Police said on Twitter that they were responding to an incident at the shopping mall.

Meanwhile, a man has been arrested on suspicion of serious assault over the incident at the shopping centre.

Chelsea have been dealt a blow after N’Golo Kante suffered a muscle injury on international duty.

The 28-year-old had been included in France’s starting lineup for the Euro 2020 qualifier against Iceland on Friday.

However, Kante was forced to withdraw after pulling up with a hamstring problem in the warm-up and was replaced by Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko, what a bad news for Chelsea.
