I want to share some important information with you all. But before I go on, let me drop this one.
If you're always suffering from malaria like myself, it's probably because your genotype is AA which is homozygous and it's normal Hb and susceptible to malaria. Unlike AS genotype which is heterozygous and resistance to malaria so also CC genotype which has a high resistance to malaria.
Now let's begin.
Please read all for easy understanding.

There are three different Hb alleles under discussion

A = the 'normal’ allele. Many people are AA, homozygous for A, and they're susceptible to malaria
S = the ‘sickle-cell’ allele. People who are heterozygous AS have resistance to malaria, but people who are SS, homozygous for S, often have sickle cell anemia, something to be avoided
C = an allele that gives high malarial resistance when homozygous, CC, but not when heterozygous, AC. SC heterozygous individuals often have sickle cell anemia, again to be avoided

So SS and SC are the two types that are problematic.
