So TSTV has taken down the Channel list on their website. I actually don't think all is well with TSTV.

I NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE

I noticed that some stations stopped working on my 68e, 28e, 16e and 4.9e. I did a blind scan on all but Celebration, Champion TV, Mercy TV on 68e failed to come up (56% highest on 68e). Likewise Core TV and Galaxy on 28e (83% on Ksf) .

Tvc news and entertainment also missing on 16e, even with 81 highest TP on 16e.

France24 and Nigbati on 4.9e also missing. 65% on DW

Can it be my disec or what? I changed my disec about 4 months ago. It's relatively new. Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks

It's possibly diseq problem but run a straight cable from the lnbfs, if the signals are full them it's diseq.
To avoid another loss of your diseq, keep it away from rainfall.

Much as DSTV is sucking us dry, we have no option than to stick same because this TSTV is failure by birth.

Until TSTV acquire their own rights for sub-sahara Africa, let's not waste our time waiting for them to bring anything good.

Startimes & Kwese Sports have rights to certain leagues and matches. TSTV should try and do same.

Their so-called hybrid whatever won't stand the test of time.

And what do you stand to lose?
You buy the box for 5k, common Huawei modem is 7k.
You enjoy 4.5g Internet with 10g data with free TV for 3k.
9mobile's 11.5g of data is 8k.

I don't see reason to panic. In this country we're always skeptical about good values because of scammers but there is too much risk with this TVSV because the setup is too cheap, we should embrace it, it's win win.

Chinedu,
Needless to say, the results have been quite impressive. From hispasat to nilesat, hotbird, eurobird 7A, badr, etc
I will take a little time to compile and publish channels receivable along with signal quality.
This will be the subject of another post. Coming soon.

Meanwhile I'm using a 36" Eurostar heavy duty jack.
Thanks a lot for that. This is very refreshing. I will be in touch cos I will need one soon.

Freshclean777,
The dish itself was bought a couple years back and I only did renovation on it recently, hence the need to re-install. I may not know the current price for now. It is made of metal (pan) with galvanized sheets. The guy's name is Okey in kaduna. I can drop his contacts here if needed. Cheers!
George, a lot of people will be interested in having such dish, including myself but if you don't mind share the result of this setup with the jack. I am curious.

Bros, let's be patience with them.they will still add more channels .The infrastructures I saw in their office in Abuja I was so impress.
I am not in a rush, here in Onitsha CTL & METRO air matches with BeINsports and Sport TV. I meant they are not running proper test transmission like Star Times did. They selected channels to run test on.

The Bein Sport stations are IPTV on TSTV. You can only view them via Internet Protocol and not ordinary satellite. So, don't rush to conclude that sport stations are not on test transmission
If it's on satellite channel list the other it should be satellite and there is Bein sports HD1 there, at least that one should be satellite not IPTV.

Tstv has started test transmission on Abs3w with TP 11053H30000 with some nice channels including beINsport and Foxsport .let's enjoy while it last and while waiting for their official decoder.
With only few useless channels showing without Bein Sport or Fox Sports. How test transmission is that?

Let's cut them some slack( I hope I'm correct)

I made enquiry last week, and was told that the Oct 1 launch date is not the sales of products commencement date, but awareness day.

I made a mistake to not update the info on this thread.

Yes, it could take up to a month for Lagos and Abuja to be saturated and another 60-90 days for other states.

Its like Ntel too. They needed to come out first and start selling thereafter.
My issue lies with their failure to allow the ABS 3 satellite to run test transmission for months. Star times did it at 10e C band in 2010
First, they should have made that point clear that sales won't resume immediately.
Again, test transmission could've calmed people's anger.
Bad planning so far.

Imagine after all the noise TSTV doesn't have decoders to distribute to the agents. They are even saying it could take extra 2-3 weeks to have the decoders in stock. Imagine that. I don't think these people have a good structured plan.

The precise procedure is as follows:
On your RCU press MENU >>>SYSTEM SETTINGS >>IP SETTINGS

Under Network IP Settings, press LINK TYPE >>>CABLE [WiFi] >>IP SITUATION >TYPE >Select Either Static\ DCHP

In my own view selecting either Static\ DHCP will not reduce or stop the freezing, its a matter of software adaptability. Audio & Video in the current software upgrade running in GSKy v.6HD is well synchronised and without minor hitches.

I have a Strong srt4950h and i applied the above changes but there was no definite effect. Fortunately my signal is @60%-65% and its what helps.

You are right, it's not about settings, it's about the software adaptability to the hardware. For now only Gsky and Tiger are close to perfect. Srt 4955 is the worst so far.

I guess this settles it. The decoder is embedded with dual function tuner, hence most Beinsports will be IPTV, but quality may not be HD, in order for it not to freeze or buffer.
Hence one Device that would be showing satellite TV and Broadband TV. The broadband is powered by the dish, for those we are used to VSAT technology, they would understand. The internet that would be needed for transmitting the internet TV channels is surplus, the reason why there's extra 20gig for subscribers.

I can liken it to gas flaring in the ND. Situation where total data volume needed would be like 50gig for 24hours view of the IPTV, but actually, ABS is producing 70gig per month. Instead of wasting the extra 20g, they give to subscribers as bonus.

If not for anything, people can subscribe just to get the 20g, cos their speed would be 4.5g which is higher generation to IPNX, Spectranet, smile, mtel. Its a package of paying 3000 naira for a service of N50k per month.

More like semi FTA cheesy
It's exactly what I thought but still a very good deal. I will definitely have it. No doubt.

Goodday house,i'm finding it difficult to track sp24.I tried it for almost 6 hours in my 3.5m mesh dish

TCHAD 71% i tweak and tweak the Lnb still no way.I used 17kk supermax lnb. What am i not doing
right?
I said earlier that the West is more difficult to get now than the East because of that tweaking.
Follow these tweaks
* I recommend glass over plastic plates.
* With Supermax lnb, drop it in until the number 32 line.
* Place the glass plate vertically.
* Place only half of the plate inside the lnb while the other half will be outside, like half and half.
But for the East, normal Kwese TV lnb setting is good enough to get it.
Good luck.

Can't I wipe the software myself?
If,I got you well, does it have to do with using RS232 cable to connect 2 same decoders together?
If yes,pls enlighten me on how to do the wiping of the software
You can do that only if the bad decoder accepts access to accept files from another decoder. That fault is mainly caused by bad virus from a removal device. It's often difficult to use cable to solve rather a technician can remove the chip and reconfigure it before putting it back, unless the chip has been damaged then you will need to replace it.

I have upgraded it to 198p but it's still blind scanning and repeating same channels on two TPs.even when I inputted TPs manually, they turn green but upon scanning,it brings those particular channels......pls, help a brother urgently
I can only think one of solution for this issue at the moment since it seems to be software problem. You will need to visit a decoder technician to clone your decoder's chip. I mean he will wipe off the existing software and install another one.

The issue about Right of EPL broadcast between DSTV and TSTV is speculative as TSTV has repeatedly affirm that she will show live matches.

I remember during the RDV era(senegalese channel), they show big matches on same satellite as DSTV for about 2-3 seasons but commentary was in French. I remember clearly during a match between Chelsea and Man U, when the main anchor person in their studio mistakenly spoke in English to his fellow analysts at half time about the match and he quickly told them he's not allow to communicate in English as a condition to show the match. Then continued in French.

So I suspect that TSTV may broadcast Arabic commentary from BEIN sport because the package advertised only the Arabic speaking channels (BEIN sport 1-10) without the English speaking ones (BEIN sports 11-13).

A modification will be to turn off or turn low the Arabic commentary and have a TSTV studio with a commentator that just says a word or two about the match per time in English.

Or worst still use pigin English......lol
I agree with you. 100%. That could be an option. I just hope they don't mess up like HITV. We need it.

the catch is the 20gigs of data, and pricing, forget football, no other satellite provider will offer what they advertised for 3k monthly, personally am a documentary person, they offer, nat geo gold, nat geo, discovery sciences, idx, fine living, etc if it is only thing football channels that I will use the 20gigs with then is a bargain for me., however we have to wait for tstv with cautious optimism as certainly every new thing will have teething problems
That is my point, I believe it's very interesting. I will go for that too. IPTV is the only way they can legally host BeIN Sports.

I'm having a discussion with TSTV and thereafter would post my findings here, as I do not want to speculate based on rumors or what flies around, which may be frivolous.

In the meantime, I do know for sure that there's likelihood that they use the IPTV platform to broadcast, but that would be 'disastrous'
'disastrous' in the sense that, our slow and expensive internet technology would put people off. In one of their ad on the website, they mention providing about 20 gig data, which comes along with the package monthly. If true, this corroborate the fact that they may broadcast some channels using the IPTV technology.

The challenge would then be whether or not the satellite dish can transmit data to the decoder to serve as a server/router for internet service in broadband kind of arrangement or if they would be relying on other ISP.

My worry is with our acceptance of IPTV, cos of slow network and high internet cost.

From my travels around continents and interesting countries, NETFLIX (https://www.netflix.com/) is taking over. NETFLIX is a luxury in Nigeria, but outside Nigeria, it is not. https://www.netflix.com/ng/

In Perth, I have a friend that uses NETFLIX and monthly sub is less than 20AUD.
Same in Sydney and Melbourne. I was privileged to watch couple of movies about 15 days ago whilst in Wentworthville NSW
https://www.netflix.com/au/

What I do know also is that the internet connection must stable, to avoid buffering.

SA too is doing same. Whilst DSTV operates from SA, Lots of people in Jo'burg are also 'NETFLIXING' They have some super stable internet in SA. I can attest to this
https://www.netflix.com/za/

On My Andriod box back home, NETFLIX is just there, as I prefer Mobdro for football matches.

In all,

1. We need to wait for TSTV to launch and we get a feel of how they would operate. Whether its going to be direct satellite TV channels or through IPTV. I'm 100% sure 80% of their channels would not be on IPTV.

2. If Canal sat Afrique is broadcasting in west Africa and showing almost same thing DSTV offers in terms of sport, why cant DSTV hack them or challenge them within the West Africa sub region? Or can we say it cos they broadcast 95% of channels in french Language?

My second submission above would corroborate the fact that they may not broadcast beinsport on IPTV platform after all, since they broadcast not in English Language

Similar, in the UK for instance, Sky sports got EPL rights, same with BT sport. These channels broadcast in England, N.ireland, Scotland, Germany, R.Ireland etc without any conflict

Fair point but Canal is for French speaking West African countries, it's not the same as having two companies broadcasting the same content like EPL in a region unless they agreed to share like BT Sports and Sky Sports in UK. But don't forget that Sky can't play the same match that is live on BT Sports. So, it's not the same thing.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Chinedu7: 10:45am On Sep 21, 2017
People shouldn't get worked up about TSTV. You guys just don't understand what the package is all about. If you do, then you should know that there is nothing special they are offering you.
Let me break it down. They are a combination of satellite & Internet TV. Most of the Sports Channels will be on Internet TV just like what you have on Android TV platform and the satellite TV will be regular channels they are allowed to host.
Example: They can't host BeIN Sports channels on satellite because DSTV will never allow that as their zonal rights will clash. Even if TSTV reach agreement with BeIN Sports to have them on Satellite, DSTV will still not allow that.

So, in all there is nothing new they are offering that you can't get elsewhere but if they can offer enough data at cheap prices then it could worth it because I believe that it's the Sports Channels that will attract subscribers to them.
