This is not going to end well.
Djibouti owes $1.1 billion to China for building the port, the airport, the railway line to Ethiopia and the pipeline bringing fresh water from Ethiopia.
When they fail to pay, which is a sure thing - all this infrastructure belongs to China, as happened recently in Sri Lanka.
Will the US, France, Japan and Italy continue servicing their bases from a wholly-Chinese owned and run port?

I don't think that port will be 100% chinese owned, but owning some tansfertable shares is possible. And it's not exclusive.

AUSTRO ENGINE AE330 RECEIVES EASA CERTIFICATE FOR 1,800 HOUR TBO

Austro Engine is proud to announce that the 180hp AE330’s TBO (Time between Overhaul) has been increased to 1,800 hours just after two years of its introduction to the market.

Jürgen Heinrich, Managing Director of Austro Engine and Diamond Aircraft Austria: “Austro Engine products have proven their outstanding capabilities in versatile operation profiles all over the globe, generating countless stories of success for our partners. On a retrospective view, we are certainly proud of having set entirely new standards in engine reliability, quality and operational efficiency for our customers, whose appreciated involvement in continuous product and service improvements have been vital and the key to success. Being energized by achievements, we are striving to further enhance operator’s experiences.”

The 180hp jetfuel engine AE330 is based on the successful and reliable 170 PS AE300. It provides more power than the AE300 at the same weight. Great fuel efficiency, reliability and easy operation make the AE330/AE300 the best aviation engines of today and the future.

At equal power the Austro’s jetfuel engines have a 45 % lower fuel burn than conventional piston aircraft engines running on AvGas. They produce significantly less exhaust emissions and are exceptionally silent. Especially flight schools, whose aircraft are operated on an above average level and are often located near resident areas, benefit from these qualities.

Very popular with pilots is the easy engine management by an electronic controlled system (ECU) with integrated single power lever design, as this allows them to focus on the actual flying. Given that the AE300/AE330 are multi-fuel certified, easy worldwide operability is not a problem unlike Avgas engines, because in certain regions of the world Avgas is hard to get and often at multiple the price of jet fuel.

More than 1,500 Austro jetfuel piston engines are in operation worldwide having produced more than one million flight hours.

I was few days back reading a report which came to me , it seems Chinese natural resources like water , arable land is diminishing fast , so they will have no alternative then make a move to grab the resources of other countries.

Easiest is up north , but the Wiley Russians have deployed considerable assets to deter such a move . How long it will hold let's see

Presently they have new tactic , there r sending waves of migrants to south East Asian countries to demographically change the native population in a long term plan , then they will move in one way or the other just like they used ancient maps to lay claims on islands etc.

LOL grin
sending waves of migrants to south East Asian countries? grin

Those migrants to south East Asian began and ended centuries ago, after the fall of Ming Dynasty, earlier than Christopher Columbus found America.

Modern day Chinese immigrant most likely destination is USA not some East Asian countries.

I really wish CCP have balls to take back those long disputed islands grin
. But I was disappointed. grin

Nowadays Chinese population is declining very quickly, many foreign labors(eg Vietnamese) rush into China to get job. How many immigrant can China send abroad?

Indian population is growing quickly they need more land and resources ,and is about to surpass China as world No,1. I am very confident in India. Go fvck those countries by sending waves of migrants to south East Asia. grin

China Wanfeng Aviation Industry Buys Diamond Aircraft Industries

Bin Chen, the new chairman of Diamond Aircraft Industies, welcomes Diamond employees to the Wanfeng Aviation family.

Hangzhou, China-based Wanfeng Aviation Industry has purchased Austria’s Diamond Aircraft Industries. In late 2016, Wanfeng acquired a 60-percent stake in Diamond’s manufacturing operation in Canada as well as rights to manufacture the seven-passenger DA62 twin and four-passenger DA40 single. The acquisition includes aero-diesel engine manufacturer Austro Engine.

Wanfeng Aviation is part of Wanfeng Auto Holding Group. The aviation division includes a Part 135 charter operation, an aircraft management service, and a Part 145 maintenance facility. The company operates an Embraer Phenom 100E and Bombardier Challenger 605, and plans call for expansion into aircraft manufacturing, airport management, flight training, and other general aviation operations. Under Wanfeng’s ownership, work will continue on new Diamond models, including the diesel-powered, five-seat DA50 and the Dart turboprop military trainer.

“We were attracted to Diamond’s leadership position in the market”, said Mr. Bin Chen, Chairman of Wanfeng Aviation Industry and President of the Wanfeng Auto Holding Group. “Under the 25-year leadership of founder Mr. Christian Dries, the Diamond team has developed a broad range of superb aircraft that have gained worldwide respect for their performance, efficiency, safety and innovation. Based on this excellent foundation, we intend to take Diamond to a long term leadership position in worldwide general aviation.

Wanfeng Auto Holdings Group is a global company with more than sixty (60) subsidiaries with industrial headquarters throughout the world. Wanfeng Auto Holdings Group employs over 12,000 employees in six industrial sectors. Wanfeng Auto Holdings Group is amongst the Chinese Private Enterprises Top 500 (#123) and China Auto Industry Top 30 (#18). Their performance around the world can be directly linked to Wanfeng’s mission to maximize the interests of the customers, employees, and the shareholders.

Mr. Bin Chen is the CEO for Wanfeng Auto Holdings Group and Chairman of Meridian Lightweight Technologies, Inc., and numerous other Companies throughout the globe. Mr. Chen holds a Master of Science in Management (MSc) from University of Hull in the United Kingdom and is amongst the new class of young successful entrepreneurs in China. Mr. Chen has been awarded the prestigious Chinese Management Masters while also serving as Vice President of China Transportation Association along with First President of General Aviation Industry Association of Zhejiang Province.

This purchase is the latest move for Mr. Bin Chen and Wanfeng Aviation Industry. As one of the new visionaries of Chinese Aviation, Mr. Chen is committed to build a whole-industry chain in aviation covering five business segments (Aircraft Manufacturing, Airport Management, Flight School Training, General Aviation Operations, and Flight Service Centers). Within only the last five years, Wanfeng has invested in numerous aviation projects throughout the world including the Czech Republic, Canada, United Kingdom, and China.

Almost exactly one year after investing in Diamond Canada, Wanfeng Aviation Industry adds the research and technological talent of Diamond Austria and Austro Engine GmbH where it will continue to develop new technologies and aircraft models, including the Dart turboprop aerobatic trainer and the DA50 models, for the global general aviation market. Wanfeng Aviation Industry’s intent is to continue to invest in the Diamond Global R&grin Center located in Wiener Neustadt to bring additional jobs and opportunities to the local economy and community. Diamond Austria will also remain a Global Engineering Service Platform supporting worldwide aircraft manufacturing centers by licensing advanced technologies which only help progress the global general aviation market.

Wanfeng Aviation Industry and Mr. Bin Chen are uniquely positioned to remain at the forefront of global general aviation market by acquiring one of the world’s leading manufacturers of piston aircraft, and will strengthen their global presence by announcing their vision for Chinese and Global Aviation industries for decades to come.

Mr. Bin Chen shall assume the position of Chairman of Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH. Mr. Frank Zhang shall assume the position of Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Christian Dries will maintain an advisory function to help guiding the new ownership and ensure the continued development of Diamond Aircraft Group.

On December 21, 2017, Diamond Austria employees celebrated the acquisition completion as part of their annual Christmas celebrations. The employees agreed that Diamond Austria is in good hands. In the interest of a successful long term future, Diamond needed to find the right partner to continue their good work. Wanfeng indeed has a long term strategy and the resources to see their vision through.

Diamond Austria’s Directors on behalf of all Diamond employees bestowed the following: “Dear Mr. Bin Chen, Welcome on board our “DIAMOND” Aircraft. We look forward to you being our captain and guiding our aircraft (company) safely through good economic times as well as in different circumstances. “Fly as over clouds to clear skies and shield us from heavy thunder-storms. As your “DIAMOND” Aircrew, we will support you with the best developed, certified, manufactured, and maintained aircraft that you could think of! BE UNIQUE – BE DIAMOND”

pic 1 :Diamond DA62 MPP
pic 2 :Diamond DART-450.

The DA62 MPP, like the DA42 MPP, can be equipped with three different sensors. A belly pod is designed to house a gamma ray spectrometer, for measuring radiation levels, either natural or from a nuclear powerplant or weapon. The wingtips can be outfitted with magnetic sensors sensitive to the earth’s magnetic field, capable of detecting unexploded. The nose boom hosts a low frequency sensor that can be employed in mineral exploration and/or locating sources of groundwater.

“What makes the solution unique is the fact that [it has] all three types of geophysical sensors,” said Michael Pregesbauer, CEO of Geoprospectors, which makes the sensors. Before Diamond offered its turnkey platforms, customers had to buy sensors independently, integrate them into an aircraft on their own, perform all required calibration, and then learn how to use the equipment, Pregesbauer said. The DA62 MPP not only comes with installed and fully calibrated sensors, but Diamond also includes complete training and aftermarket support for the aircraft. Pregesbauer noted that while such sensors are sensitive to “noise” sources, the Diamond’s composite construction “gives a good signal-to-noise ratio compared to metal airframes.”

Underscoring the MPP platforms’ turnkey nature, the Austrian OEM is also showing in public for the first time its Diamond Ground Station, a high-tech intel center in a tent that can be quickly set up in a remote location, where all data gathered by Diamond Special Mission aircraft can be received and viewed in real time.

The DA62 MPP is powered by twin turbocharged 180-hp Austro Engine AE330 Fadec powerplants. In loiter power setting, the two engines burn a combined 7.4 gph, according to the company. It can be operated single pilot, though all four seats can be filled with flight crew and equipment operators for demanding missions.

Any combination of sensors can be incorporated—a LIDAR camera can be installed in the belly pod rather than a gamma ray detector, for example—and a satcom pod atop the aft fuselage can host additional Special Mission hardware. Though a helicopter could physically carry such equipment, Pregesbauer noted, the vibration and rotor wash affect accuracy of the sensors, and rotorcraft are much more costly platforms to operate. No cost for the platform has been announced.

Also making its Paris debut are the Dart 450, a single engine turboprop introduced in April at the Aero Friedrichshafen show in Germany. Making its world debut is the DA42 MPP TerraStar, a new member of the growing DA42 MPP fleet. The Dart (Diamond Aircraft Reconnaissance Trainer), which had its maiden flight last month, is powered by an Ivchenko-Progress/Motor Sich AI-450S turboprop engine, turning a five-blade MT prop. An undisclosed customer recently purchased two TerraStars.

The in-development DA50, the company’s top-of-the-line general aviation piston single, introduced at Aero Friedrichshafen, is also making its first Paris appearance. On track for EASA certification next year, it will be offered in five-seat configurations as displayed here, and a four-seater aimed the trainer market. The five-seater will be powered by a 260-hp Safran/SMA SR305-260E diesel engine, and the four-seater by a 230-hp version of the powerplant. A seven-seat version is slated for development as well. The seven seater will be available with three engine options, including a GE turboprop.

Bronco Combat Systems (BCS) USA has announced the launch of its new aircraft, the Bronco II, a two-crew C4ISR and precision strike aircraft.

Capable of carrying a wide range of weapons, sensors and systems in extended airborne mission operations, Bronco II will target the US military’s light aircraft market.

Based on the Advanced High-Performance Reconnaissance Light Aircraft (AHRLAC), the Bronco II has an open system design which allows emerging technologies to be incorporated later.

Its Interchangeable Multi-Mission System Bay (IMSB) allows a single airframe to be reconfigured for multiple roles. These include high-performance targeting sensors, network communication systems, precision weapons, an electronic self-protection suite, and mission planning systems.

According to BCS, it will do all of this at a fraction of the cost compared with aircraft with similar mission applications and capabilities.

The aircraft is completely digitally designed, making it possible to produce entirely in the US. Work has already started on a manufacturing base in the US that can build the airframe and mission systems integration.

Newly-formed BCS is in a funding partnership with Paramount Group USA, Fulcrum Concepts LLC, and the Aerospace Development Corporation (ADC), who designed the AHRLAC platform.

“This is not simply an armed variant of a civilian crop-duster or a modified training aircraft,” said Paramount Group International Chairman Ivor Ichikowitz.

“Every inch of this aircraft is designed for purpose—specifically for the kind of asymmetrical warfare that sophisticated military forces are now being asked to conduct.

“These missions demand rapidly deployable, hybrid ISR and close air support capabilities for which no other platform has been specifically designed.”

He added that discussions are underway with ‘highly respected and experienced US suppliers’ for the Bronco II.

Dr Paul Potgieter, CEO of ADC, said: “This aircraft is a completely clean-sheet, next-generation design, using the latest CATIA and digital design systems specifically for digital production.

“Even the factory in which this aircraft is currently being produced embraces the innovative principles of the Fourth Industrial Revolution by emphasising the use of rapid digital prototyping, laser additive and 3D printing, and a jig-less manufacturing approach.”
