Travel / Re: Thousands Of Vehicles Stuck In Traffic In China (Photos) by chineselink: 10:06pm On Feb 26, 2018
Beautiful Hainan island. Haikou is the capital but sanya is more than beautiful, I lived there for over four years. Tourism is the key to their success.
Automotive1:

Mind-blowing pictures show thousands of vehicles stuck in an epic 10km traffic jam in China as holiday-goers try to return home

More than 10,000 cars and over 100,000 travellers were stuck in a massive traffic jam in China last week as they waited to get on ferryboats to leave popular tropical island Hainan.

According to Chinese news site Sina, the huge queues stretched for around 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) at one point. The congestion was caused by heavy fog over the Qiongzhou Strait in Haikou.

The incredible gridlock took place at the end of China's seven-day national holiday to celebrate Lunar New Year.

As a tropical destination, Hainan Island was hugely popular among tourists who were looking for sunshine.

In the space of seven days, around five million people swarmed to the island which is roughly the size of Belgium.

But when they were trying to return home, they found themselves trapped on the island due to foggy weather as boats could only operate periodically.

Huge queues of vehicles were spotted outside of the islands Xiuying Port, Xinhai Port and Nangang Port from the evening of February 19 and by midnight, over 10,000 vehicle had been stuck.

As a result of the traffic jam, the price of the flight tickets out of Hainan to major Chinese cities soared up by some 20 times.

It's said that after the ferry re-opened on the morning of February 20, 30 boats shuttled between the strait to transport nearly 7,000 vehicles over in 4.5 hours. It took another 24 hours to clear the queue.

The worst traffic jam ever in China took place in 2010 where motorists were caught up in a 60-mile tailback which lasted for more than 10 days on the Beijing-Tibet Expressway due to roadworks.

Be grateful you’re not stuck in this kind traffic jam, with thousands of cars, buses and lorries in front of you.

Family / Re: Since I Married My Wife, I Have Been Having Bad Luck by chineselink: 10:29pm On Nov 23, 2017
[Her spiritual husband is the tough type. All the problem is from the marine world.quote author=ghostfacekillar post=62624803]I got married about 4 years ago to a lady i courted for about 2 yrs. since then we’ve not had a child, and it has naturally become a source of worry as my parents have not hidden their concern at all.

Now, as a born again christian, I believe in totality that children come from God and he alone gives at his time, but I also know that the bible commands us to ask, seek and knock and that he that asks, receives. But my frustration in this whole thing is the wife I married.

Firstly, for strange reasons, ten months after marrying her, I lost my job of 12yrs, and since then I’ve been struggling to make ends meet. I must thank God for his goodness and mercies all the way. At least there has been no reason to beg anyone.

Secondly, she has strangely refused to support any effort I try to make for progress. She sees things differently with no better alternative to bring on the table and each time I go ahead, she wants it to fail. she’s a graduate who has also refused to do anything for flimsy reasons, not liking a business type, lack of interest with her certificate, not even to teach as an educationist. And for these reasons, we have remained almost always at loggerheads.

Thirdly, in an effort to find solution to our childlessness, she has frustrated every bit of the attempts. She has refused us exhausting medical options insisting that the problem is spiritual. And on the spiritual options, she has been half- heartedly involved. My parents invited us for prayers with a man of God,we got there on my insistence at least to honour them and she ended up embarrassing everyone including my parents as she vehemently refused to stay back for prayers as advised by the Man, and even accusing me of ganging up with them! That was Oct last year. Even if she didn’t believe the man as she claimed, i thought she should have been polite and respectful about it..

Needless to say, my parents have been hurt with her actions since then and wish I can just divorce her. Most frustrating for me is that presently, I’m observing a month long fasting and prayer period.

Even though she claims to be fasting and praying too, she has refused to go with me for prayers in Church for once. Please advice me on what to do as various thoughts keep running through my mind…

I am still very young and i think letting a woman who’s mindset is far below my ambitions will be doing harm to my future. my friend snd this to me. help him[/quote]

Travel / Re: Bribe Collection At Murtala Muhammed International Airport by chineselink: 10:59am On Aug 20, 2017
Ezniteadin:
Have you been to the Murtala Muhammad international Airport lately?

It is the most crowded Airport in my experiences, the prying eyes and busybodies waiting to latch on to your purse forcefully by all gimmicks

They beggarly initiate all method of trickery to collect bribe from travelers

The lack of CCTV surveillance camera is one major reason the attending offices are the more brazen,

they practically beg for money and threaten you if you refuse to grease their corrupt palms

You wonder why Government workers are so bold to Beg for money in an international airport

They search your Bags with bare hands and look for what is not lost, whereas other countries of the world would pass your bags through a search machine to spot items not fit for travel

Nigerian Airport workers practically search your bag in attempts to find anything for which they can collect bribe from you even your underwaer

I am just wondering, Any Nairalander who have experienced this brazen thievery by employed and unemployed loiters at the Airport

The Nigerian government is pretending and acting as if bribe does not happen at the airport Or else, something should have been done to stem this shameful acts of international embarrassment

what is your story at the airport ?
I challenged them for trying to extort money from Chinese guy's I flew in with just because of their food items.

Thanks for the motivation. I bought one plot of land on the 30th march and added another yesterday been 03/04/2017. Though a bit swampy but it will soon get in shape. My advise to people is,don't see anywhere as undeveloped or bad roads as excuse. Development is a gradual process.
Car Talk / Re: See The Rare Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion Which Sells For N2.5billion by chineselink: 7:58am On Mar 17, 2017
And am still begging to sell my 2008 model for six million . check my signature in auto section if interested.

An exceptionally rare 1998 Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion has sold for $5.665 million (N2.5Billion) at Gooding & Company’s auction at Amelia Island.

Just 20 units of the GT1 Strassenversion were produced for the street to meet homologation requirements to allow the GT1 Evolution to race at the 1997 Le Mans 24 Hours. As a result, the car really is a racing car for the road, not simply a road car with a roll cage and lightweight wheels.

Beneath the skin, the 911 GT1 Strassenversion features a twin-turbocharged 3.2-liter water-cooled flat-six engine delivering 544 hp at 7,000 rpm and 600 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. While those figures may not be extraordinary in 2017, the do allow the street racer to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and a 310 km/h (192 mph) top speed.

The example in question is chassis number 005 and was reportedly just the second example produced. It was originally delivered to a German customer and during his ownership, driven a total a 4,400 km.

In October 2003, the GT1 was sold to Don Wallace from Florida where it remained until 2009 when another Florida collector purchased it. It was ultimately purchased by a German and returned back to its motherland before coming back to the U.S. in 2015 where it underwent a meticulous detail.

At the time of sale it had 7,900 km (4,900 miles) on the clock. Porsche 918 Spyder eat your heart out.
