Politics / Security Agencies Halt Further Killings In Odege And Agwada Communities In Nasar by chizgold80: 8:10am On May 05, 2017
The wanton destruction of lives and properties by Fulani herdsmen in Odege and Agwada communities in Nasarawa and Kokona local government areas of Nasarawa state have been brought under control by the combined efforts of security agencies and the state government.

Herdsmen had laid ambush on the defenseless people of the two communities killing many farmers and destroying properties worth millions during a misunderstanding that resulted between farmers and herdsmen over accusation of trespasses and destruction of farm crops by the nomads.

According to a press statement made available to our correspondent in Lafia and signed by Hon Samuel Egya on behalf of stakeholders of the two communities, the intervention of the state police commissioner Alhaji Abubarka Sadiq Bello, the Army, DSS and other security agencies have halted the spate of killings and destruction of properties as well as other forms of criminality by the rampaging Fulani herdsmen in the areas.

According to him “the intervention of the Nasarawa state commissioner of police in particular and other security agencies is not only restoring normalcy to the area but also the distress, mental trauma and torture that the people have been subjected to over their inability to carry out their farming activities and daily livelihood have been dispelled.

“Now, the people have started picking up the ruins and remains of their lives gradually with a view to returning to active living in their various villages that have been under siege for long time due to the nefarious activities of the herdsmen” Hon Egya said

He commended the police commissioner for intensifying police patrol in the areas with a view to convincing the people of government determination to completely protect the communities from all forms of lawlessness capable of jeopardizing the fragile peace currently prevailing in the areas.

The statement also appreciates the efforts of the State Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura, former Governor of the State Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Hon Muhammed Okpoku of the state House of Assembly for their relentless efforts in restoring peace in the areas.

“To all the people of the communities, we sincerely thank you for your understanding, perseverance, and patience throughout the challenging times, we also thank you for the confidence reposed in us as community leaders to lead the path of finding lasting solutions to the security issues facing the community” he said

He urged them to be law abiding and refrain from any form of baseless reports or information that may trigger any slight provocation, adding that the state government and security agencies are working hard to find lasting peace.

Politics / I Was A Powerful Vice President–atiku by chizgold80: 7:05am On May 04, 2017
Former Vice President, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, has revealed that as Vice President of Nigeria, he assembled the best brains from across the country, making his Office to function powerfully during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He spoke in Abuja at a Night of Tributes and inauguration of Dr Onukaba Adinoyi-Ojo Endowment Fund, where he donated N10 million to support the take-off of the Fund.

Atiku, described the late Dr Onukaba Adinoyi-Ojo, as a brilliant, transparent and forthright journalist, playwright, and scholar, who made tremendous impact during his administration as a Vice President of Nigeria.

He said as Vice President, he surrounded himself with about 8 PhD holders as workers in office, with Ojo as one of those that made his Office outstanding at the time.

“I like to work with people I will learn from and Ojo together with the rest actually formed the core of my office and of course in our
administration, you knew the impact of my office on our administration,” he said.

The former Vice President said he was terribly shocked and pained to learn of the death, on March 5, 2017, of Dr Adinoyi-Ojo Onukaba, saying the news was more shocking because Onukaba was at my residence just two days earlier on Friday, March 3, 2017, he visited me before travelling out of Abuja.

“I would later learn that Ojo, as all his friends called him, was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle, while fleeing the scene of a robbery attack around Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, while travelling between Ogun and Kogi States.

“That was one death too many. The late Ojo was a brilliant, affable, easy-going, unassuming and decent gentleman,” he said adding that he appointed him, first as Special Assistant on Media, in 1999 and later Senior Special Assistant on Media 2003, following Atiku’s re-election as Vice President.

Atiku, while announcing the donation of the N10 million, appealed to everyone at the solemn tribute to contribute generously to the Endowment Fund in order to help support the education of the children left behind by Adinoyi-Ojo.

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Modibbo Umar and many others at the event eulogised the virtues of Adinoyi-Ojo, while also calling on the Federal government to address the issue of insecurity and violent crimes in the country.

Special Assistant Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, also appealed to Nigerians to support the family of the deceased, especially the three children he left behind.

He said: “I will like to appeal to everyone of to think about those children. We knew Ojo left nothing because he wasn’t the kind of person who enjoyed keeping money or wanting money by all means as such”...

Politics / Ex-abia Governor Vows To Remain In PDP by chizgold80: 5:31am On May 03, 2017
Former governor of Abia State and serving senator of the federal republic of Nigeria , Chief Theodore Orji said he has no intention of leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for any other political party.

Reacting to comments by former Abia State House of Assembly Speaker, Stanley Ohajuruka, that he was not welcomed to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Orji, who is now senator representing Abia Senatorial District, said: “I have no intention of jettisoning my relationship with the party, not now, not tomorrow. I love my party.”

The senator who spoke to our correspondent explained that : “Let me tell you, if I decide to leave my party, the party I will join will be very happy because of my antecedent.

“I have a track record of success as a civil servant and in politics, I have electoral value, unlike those who are spent forces in all ramifications of their lives. So, don’t mind them, they just want me to notice them.”

Orji said people from the South-East, leaving or had left the PDP did so for personal reasons, while noting that Nigerians could serve Nigeria, irrespective of political inclination.

“Those who are leaving the party, citing party problems as a reason, are not sincere, which is most uncharitable, especially when majority of them have benefitted hugely from it,” he said.

Ohajuruka had said members of the APC in Abia State were against people like Orji joining the party.

He, therefore, advised the former governor against coming to APC, as doing so would be a betrayal of former president, Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Mrs. Patience.

Ohajuruka told newsmen that Senator Orji’s governance style, while serving as governor was largely due to his leverage with Jonathan and his wife.

“It will be heartbreaking to the former president and his wife to see Orji abandon a party that stood in for him when he was unleashing terror on Abians and owing salaries of civil servants.

“While more politicians from this state are expected in no distant time to formally join the APC, we are against people, like Senator T. A Orji abandoning his party to also join the moving train. We are not ignorant of the role former president Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Mrs. Patience played in his governance. It will therefore, be costly and demeaning of...

Foreign Affairs / Affect, Affection, And Afffection: Busting Trump’s Bombs by chizgold80: 2:31pm On Apr 07, 2017
The image of children writhing in pain and gasping for air as they were asphyxiated and choked to an airless death was gut wrenching. It was a sight surmountable in its moral outrage only by an erratic, polls-driven, reactionary, and symbolic tomahawk bomb show, as we have seen tonight.

Given his sustained demonization of the Syrian refugees, Donald Trump, with an approval rating sitting in the lower thirties, the worst of any US president in their first 100 days in office, lacks every shred of credibility to engage in a sham and symbolic air campaign in Syria.

This is a guy who rode to power by stoking an anti-refugee sentiment among his xenophobic supporters, making it the centerpiece of his campaign. This is a man who believed that President Obama should not go into Syria without congressional approval. What changed? What changed was not the use of chemical nerve agents by Bashir al-Assad on his Syrian population; after all, this will not be his first time.

The first time Assad was known to have gassed his own people, Donald Trump was opposed to any military action by the then Obama administration without a congressional approval. Yet, here we have President Trump raining down 59 tomahawk missiles on Syrian airfield without a congressional approval. So Assad’s deployment of sarin gas on his people is not what changed. Neither is it the image of children gasping for air and rapidly expiring in airless death. We have seen similar images before. Who could forget the gut wrenching image of three-year old Alan Kurdi washed ashore on Turkish beach?

As much as Donald Trump wants us to believe that it is the images of gassed and gasping children that changed his attitude toward Assad and Syria, truth is he is lying. The images of children in distress have never bothered Donald Trump. If they did, the image of 3-year old Alan Kurdi on a Turkish beach in December of 2015 would have tamed Trump’s anti-Syrian refugee campaign.

So, moral outrage at Assad’s savage gas attack on innocent children was not the game changer that Donald Trump claims it is. Here is the game changer. Donald Trump is pitifully sitting at a 34% approval rating. He has done a horrible job of leadership. Everyday and every boneheaded action and tweet of his have continued to sink his approval rating.

Donald Trump is an immoral opportunist. He seeks to exploit the opportunity of the images of gassed and gasping Syrian children to shore up his plummeting approval rating. How can Donald Trump be affected by the images of the gassed and gasping Syrian children when he has cut funding for after school lunch for poor American children? How can Donald Trump lie through his teeth about his nonexistent compassion when he has cut funding for meals on wheels for poor American folks? How can Donald Trump assert moral imagery when he has not given up on his campaign to ban immigrants from Syria and other selected Muslim nations? If Donald Trump were a man of...

Politics / Reuben Abati Reasons Like A Road-side Tailor by chizgold80: 3:53pm On Apr 06, 2017
I am more comfortable writing on issues than personalities but it is almost impossible to talk about the evil spirits in the presidential villa that is behind all our problems without saying anything about the person who told us about them.

Just a month after a tailor in Lagos blamed the devil for making him rape a 3 year old girl, Dr Reuben Abati is also blaming the devil for all the wrong decisions they made in the villa. I don’t know why Dr Abati will be reasoning like that roadside tailor but his excuse for failure is the most ridiculous I have heard recently.

At moments like this it is normal to curse and ridicule him but it is also an opportunity for us to reflect on how a man can transform into the same thing he has been preaching against all his life. Perhaps he didn’t believe in what he always preached and needed power to reveal his true self or he meant every word but at a point lost hope and joined the thieving gang. His utterances recently make me believe the former and the ridiculous excuse of blaming evil spirits for his shameful performance as President’s spokesman only reveal how desperate he is to fraudulently find a way back into the the hearts of his long lost audience.

No President in our history went to the Holy Land (Jerusalem) or bowed on alters of the Almighty more that President Jonathan but his spokesman remains the first to blame evil spirits for their failure. Is it that the Almighty refused to listen or he was not praying at all? If the juju was making everybody sick or killing people or attempting to kill like Mr Abati want us to believe then why did he do everything including putting his confidence to sleep and locking his brilliant brain in God-knows-where to remain there? Or na de juju been iiuide worry am?

I know Aso Villa is the peak of power and money in Nigeria and people will go there with all kinds of fetish things but blaming how Nigerians reacted to their government, all deaths, accidents, malfunctions and the insults he showered on his friends and former colleagues on evil spirits is ridiculous and to an extent fraudulent. What ihappened to Abati in Aso villa is what happens to our quiet, humble and morally upright friend who gets a good paying job and transforms to a pompous extrovert and womanizer or what happens to a course mate who becomes the Student Union leader and thinks it is an abomination for him to be the first to greet any time you come across each other. It is not about demons. It is what has...

Politics / Buhari And The Big Tray Of Jollof Rice by chizgold80: 8:42am On Mar 29, 2017
I can’t remember how old I was then. Maybe I was in primary two or three, I can’t readily remember. All I know is that I was old enough to go to my mother to complain over anything that I wasn’t happy with. But on this day, this was one complain that taught me a great lesson of my life.

On this fateful day, it was evening time, and I was hungry. My mother and elder sisters were in the kitchen, cooking jollof rice. I was then the only son. Maybe I allowed it get into my head, maybe the aroma from the jollof rice that I inhaled, went into my tummy and caused a little katakata therein, making the little worms in my tummy to protest, rattling and unsettling me. The biting revolt in my tummy readily found an expression in my mouth. I went straight to the sitting room, where my mother was attending to some visitors.

“I am hungry, you people should give me food”, I cried, with tears dripping down my cheeks.

My mum didn’t utter a word. Mrs Edet, my mother’s friend said, “Chuks, be patient, your mother is still preparing your dinner”. I just mumbled and grumbled and went out of the sitting room. Later, I went outside to play with other children, until my immediate elder sister called me that food was ready.

I got into the house, and was moving straight to the kitchen. Then I saw a mountain of jollof rice on a very big tray–that kind of tray that they used to fill with rice during our birthdays in those days. I was shocked! Before I could fathom what was happening, the sitting room door was jammed from behind. I looked and saw that my mother was already standing by the door with a big broom in her right hand, with that kind of frown that foretells that danger isn’t too far from you.

She bellowed: “You can’t disgrace me in this house. You want to tell the whole world that I don’t take care of you. The fact that you are the only son is not a licence to be stupid. Before you disgrace me, I will put sense into that your head!” Pointing to the Dining table, she screamed: “Now, go and sit there and make sure that you finish that food on the tray before the next fifteen minutes, or I will teach you the lesson of your life!”

For those who know my family very well, they can attest to the fact that it is far better to fall on the wrong side of my father than my mum.

Back to my story. I looked towards the kitchen, the door had been closed, apparently by one of my sisters, and it must have been in strict adherence to my mother’s instruction. I looked at the tray of jollof rice, puffing out hot misty smoke. The aroma no longer had its usual effect on me. I looked at my mother again, and the broom in her hand and then her face. Terror gripped me!

I was like a trapped rat with no means of escape. Food made no meaning to me. Hunger left me, or I forgot about my hunger. The thing that was of utmost importance to me was a means of escape, not jollof rice, not food. I could have traded anything, just anything I had, to escape the looming Armageddon. Unfortunately, there was nothing to trade.

There was no way I could have finished that tray of jollof rice in 3 days time, given a normal situation, but I was not in a normal situation. I was in trouble. My inability to hold my tummy in check has led to its conspiracy with my mouth to ‘land’ me in trouble.

“Are you deaf? Didn’t you hear me? Go and sit and finish that food now!”

As I tried to take a step towards the dining, my legs gave way. I fell on my knees and started asking for forgiveness.

I don’t know how many blows my head and back received of the broom, all I knew was that, after what seemed like endless serious bombardments on my head, my shoulders and back of the head, I was finally free! Free not to eat the jollof rice, but free to ‘bolt’ out of the house! That was the greatest freedom that I badly needed then.

My point in this story?

Governance, especially in Nigeria, and at the highest level, is like jollof rice. Very great aroma! Great taste, with all the perquisites and trappings of office, but we should always ensure that we have the capacity to take in all that we crave for, especially, when we make so

Food / Is Egusi A Soup Or A Sauce?: How I Lost An Argument To A 12-year Old by chizgold80: 10:20pm On Mar 06, 2017
Last night, I honored a dinner invitation by a Nigerian family friend. On the table was a big bowl of pounded yam and a big bowl of egusi soup. After meal prayer was said by the daddy of the house, everybody but Kobe, their 12—year old son, proceeded to get a cut of the pounded yam and some scoops of egusi soup into their plates. Kobe did not go for the pounded yam; he went straight for the egusi soup; scooped quite a quantity into his bowl; and proceeded to drink and leak it with a spoon. It was then that this exchange ensued:

Me: Hey, buddy, you are wasting the soup...

Kobe: How? What do you mean?

Me: You are drinking the soup without eating the pounded yam...

Kobe: How is that a waste? What am I wasting, the soup or the garri? (he calls everything garri)

Me: (already feeling boxed in) The soup

Kobe: But I'm drinking it, how can that be wasting it?

Me: Sorry, the garri...

Kobe: How can I waste it when I don't eat it? If I don't eat it, doesn't that mean that I save enough for the rest of you to eat?

Me: (not sure if it was me or the air was no longer working) Kobe, you eat the garri with the soup...

Kobe: Why, Uncle? If egusi is a soup, as you say it is, then it does not have to be taken with anything. You drink it like you drink other soups...like chicken noodle soup, Chinese rice soup, creamy tortilla, carrot soup, broccoli and potato soup, gumbo soup....

Me: Will you stop listing soups, you are not a chef! (his smartness was becoming irritating)

Kobe: Sorry, Uncle, but I'm just saying... What you are saying will make sense only if egusi were a sauce. You use a sauce to eat something else. Do you think egusi is a soup or a sauce, Uncle?

Me: (eager to end the intellectual assault by a 12—year old) I think egusi is a sauce, not a soup...

Kobe: So why do Nigerians call it a soup?

Me: Kobe, will you stop bothering me! Pass me the...

Politics / Buhari-led FG Is Neglecting The South East (see Proof) by chizgold80: 4:27pm On Feb 01, 2017
Quite early in his administration, President Muhammadu Buhari had in an interview mouthed off that there is no way it would be expected that he would give the same type of attention to those who gave him 97% of their votes, and those who only contributed about 5%.Many people thought of it as a gaffe, but, he has been living up to his words.

The South Eastern part of Nigeria, voted massively for Buhari’s opponent in the last election, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, and for that, they were marked by the government as the “enemies”

An examination of some of the actions taken by the Buhari-led Federal Government reveals well worked out efforts at denying the South East of what is being given to other parts of the country. Below, we highlight some of them;

1. Killing of innocent citizens by the military: No doubt, the South East is the home of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) agitators. Reports, even authenticated by Amnesty International reveal that on several occasions when IPOB members have gathered to peacefully mark an occasion, Buhari’s military had recklessly opened fire on them, and slaughtered hundreds of unarmed and innocent citizens. The South East is not the only place where demonstrations hold, but anytime anybody from that area engages in any form of demonstration, they are shot at, and mostly killed.

2. Economic and Dvelopmental Plans: The Buhari administration has found a way to always ensure that when developmental and economic support plans are made, people of the South East are conveniently omitted.

For instance, when the government submitted a plan in support of its USD29.96billion foreign loan request, it was evident that none of the projects for which the loan was being asked for, was to be executed in the South East.

Again, the monthly stipend of N5,000 which the administration promised would be paid to poor and vulnerable Nigerians has commenced. Sadly, none of the states from the South East was included!

Recently, as the government kick-started its economic empowerment and poverty alleviation programme, it has stated that 23,400 beneficiaries have been chosen from 13 states. Of the 13 states, none is from the South East!

It seems then that for the Buhari administration, South Easterners do not...

Politics / Freedom Of The Press: The Die Is Cast! Who Are The Intimidators? by chizgold80: 3:58pm On Feb 01, 2017
I was shocked as I read with bated breath the hue and cry of Ikenga Chronicles Editor, Oruh Nnaemeka who let the cat out of the bag on the calls he had received for queuing behind the suffering masses on whom Buhari’s rudderless and clueless economic policies have impoverished.

Hear him: ‘’ Some minutes before my criticism of the Buhari government, I had engaged in a verbal war with a close associate of Buhari’s favoured son (the poster child of corruption) and Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi during which I was referred to as a full anti-APC writer. My feeble attempts at explaining that I am just focused on the welfare of Nigerians fell on deaf ears. But that of course does not really matter.’’

He added: “What matters was that throughout yesterday, I have been inundated with calls and messages warning/cajoling/advising me to take my feet off the gas when it comes to anti-Buhari expressions. I was directly told that for my security, I should desist as a clampdown on all social media users who ‘abuse’ the president will soon be engaged in by the Department of State Services (DSS).”

For me, the so called callers must be treading on a dangerous path for attempting to clampdown on freedom of speech in a democracy that the press fought hard to win. The attempt to take Nigeria back to the dark days of military dictatorship by Buhari’s overzealous aides and faceless supporters must be resisted by well-meaning Nigerians, civil societies and human rights activists at all cost.

Without fear of contradiction, the APC has not been fair to the media. Just within two years of Buhari’s administration, series of arrests of bloggers, newspaper reporters and even a dog owner have advocates worried about a chill on freedom of expression.

The latest assault on the freedom of the press was the clampdown and whisking away of Premium Times publisher, Dapo Olorunyomi, alongside the paper’s judiciary correspondent, Evelyn Okakwu on trumped up charges.

Last year, the army said it wanted to question a journalist who had posted a link to a video released by the Boko Haram extremist group. Also,a journalist investigating arms smuggling was assaulted in June 2015 after a meeting at a Nigerian border post.

Musa Azare, a blogger known for being critical about the government of Bauchi State, also found himself under arrest this month.

In Ogun State, the story is even worst, as the Governor has been unleashing his executive power on bloggers and who dare write anything negative about him.

It’s not just journalists that are facing threats. Police took a man in Ogun State last year August into custody for naming his dog “Buhari”.

Not only that, I also have a fair share of the threat last year when the National leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu declared me ‘’wanted’’ for publishing a story that he termed‘’ false.’’

It is worrisome that this dastardly act still happens as Nigeria’s leaders have pledged to respect the freedom of the press, with Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed saying that the government of Buhari does “not intend to do anything to stifle press freedom”.

APC should know that the press has gone so far that ‘’mere threat calls’’ and indefinite detention cannot make them to abandon their responsibilities as watch dogs of the society.

Recall that during the military era many journalists were arrested, detained, tortured and jailed. Several media organizations were sealed off, closed down, proscribed or banned. Several thousand copies of newspapers and magazines were either confiscated or destroyed. Some media houses were either vandalized or torched, yet the Nigerian press survived.

It was during that dark period of the Nigerian press that Dele Giwa of Newswatch magazine was assassinated in a manner suggestive of systematic and deliberate government involvement, yet the press did not go underground.

Also, the Buhari regime that started on December 31, 1983 was obviously dictatorial. He had hardly taken the office when he declared that he would tamper with the freedom of the press. Buhari’s anger stemmed from what he termed the “raw deal” he got from the press over N2.8 billion scandal when he was Minister of Petroleum Resources, so he therefore accused the press of recklessness, hence his government came up with Decree 4. Two Guardian journalists–Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor– became victims of this decree which led them to jail, yet the Nigerian press survived.

If the press can survive military dictatorship for donkey years, then the present ‘’ranting ranters’’ attempting to...

Politics / EXPLOSIVE: 5 Unfolding Political Dramas That Would Make Or Mar Buhari In 2017 by chizgold80: 10:19am On Dec 31, 2016
The following unfolding political events would most likely make or mar President Muhammadu Buhari come 2017.

The events are as follows:

1 Emergence of a Mega Party:

Some prominent but aggrieved leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC)Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)and politicians from the Social Democratic Party(SDP)among others are said to be behind the formation of mega party called Action Democratic Party(ADP).

APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu as well as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar are considered to be among leading political stakeholders oiling the formation of the mega party.

However, Tinubu had denied the move, saying he would not engage in ‘’destructive pettiness’’ adding that he would remain true to the progressive ideals that fuelled the creation of the APC.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who appears dissatisfied with the way Buhari has handled the economy, said recently, that he would support the mega party, if Atiku Abubakar is not the presidential candidate.

Currently, the likelihood of ADP becoming a registered party is bright. The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC)on December 20 gave the political association the nod to go ahead with the procedures for full registration after receiving ADP’s application for registration as a political party.

2. Nnamdi Kanu And Supreme Court Justices’ Trial:

The prosecution of justices arrested for alleged graft and Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB will also take the front seat in 2017.

Nnamdi Kalu’s trial commences January 10, with international observers monitoring the court proceedings.

Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court, who is facing 16-count charge bordering on money laundering, age falsification and alleged illegal possession of multiple international passports, on December 7, told a Federal High Court in Abuja that he was not ready for trial.

Ngwuta who was docked before the high court on November 21 and subsequently granted bail to the tune of N100million, pleaded for an adjournment to enable him to adequately prepare his defence to allegations the Federal Government levelled against him.

The matter was eventually adjourned till January 18 and 23, 2017, for trial.

3. Winning The Boko Haram’s War

Last week, the Nigerian Military said it had cleared the dreaded Sambisa forest of Boko Haram insurgents after capturing Camp zero–the insurgents’ headquarters.

However, Boko Haram’s elusive leader, Abubakar Shekau appeared in a new video on Thursday to dispute the claim that the jihadist group had been flushed out of its Sambisa forest stronghold. “We are safe. We have not been flushed out of anywhere. And tactics and strategies cannot reveal our location except if Allah wills by his decree,” Shekau said in the 25-minute video.

With Shekau’s claim, the government, in 2017, has to go the extra mile to really show that the sect has been crushed.

4. Niger Delta Militancy

The government has to diffuse the tension in the Niger-Delta this year to gain maximally from oil production.

The year 2016 witnessed an avalanche of bombing of oil facilities by militants, which adversely affected oil production. On December 28, the Presidency said it is in search of genuine Niger-Delta leaders....

Celebrities / Are Blacks More Racist Than White? by chizgold80: 3:22am On Dec 31, 2016
In some private moments I have wondered to myself: if power advantages were reversed, if black people had power advantage over white America, would race relations have been better or way worse? In other words, would black America have been way more racist than white America? I know that sounds like a counterfactual, but it’s worth a thought.

Anti-miscegenation laws, which criminalized interracial sex and marriages, have since been ripped off the statutes in America. Yet, Serena Williams’ engagement to a white man has received mean-spirited flak from black people whose only grouse is the race and color of the man.

Again I ask, would black people have been way more racist had they had the power advantage? Just a thought.

In the meantime, congratulations, Serena! You hit an ace there! You knocked it out of the pack! Anybody who has a problem with it can go cut their wrist. Nonsense.....

Romance / I Want To Make Love To All Of Your Senses {adult} by chizgold80: 10:06am On Dec 25, 2016
“I want to do with you what Spring does to the Cherry trees.” ~ Pablo Neruda

This time, let’s take the slow road, the road less taken, the one that’s slightly muddy and smelling of a fresh rainstorm.

The one that meanders through the field thick with golden rod and queen’s anne lace dancing in the soft breeze.
I want to make love to each and every one of your senses so that you can feel every inch of my body pressed against yours, so that the smell of my hair will fill your dreams even when I am not lying next to you making goosebumps rise upon your skin.

This time, I just want to take it slow.

We Will Watch

My skin is pale right now after the months of snow and cold have kept me hidden inside under heirloom quilts and fluffy down comforters. I don’t even mind the way that every freckle, every scar is easily seen, because I will love to see your eyes try to take it all in at once…like you are finally seeing what you never thought you’d have.
I will dress up for you in sapphire blue lace, and maybe even heels.

My honey colored hair will probably be messy and untamed, cascading around my shoulders and back— bedroom hair as I am told it’s called. My dark blue eyes will be heavy with desire, my lashes brushing your cheek as I come to stand in front of you.

Slowly, I will undo my lace and let it fall to the floor, because as much as I will know you love seeing me all beautifully wrapped up just for you, what you crave, what you desire is my skin, bare and exposed against yours. It’s going to kill you not to touch me, but you…

Romance / A Sunday Kind Of Love. {adult} by chizgold80: 5:30am On Dec 25, 2016
I want a Sunday kind of love—one that is as comforting and warm as my favorite soft robe tied tight around my breasts on a foggy morning.

The kind of morning that licks at my consciousness and makes me still feel as if I’m dreaming—that hazy blur where reality and my burning desire collides.

A love that wakes up with the sun, lips against my shoulder smelling of last night’s whiskey kisses, strong hands pulling me close, nestled into the soft voluptuousness of my breasts and grabbing hold of your dreams, the fit of an arm around my waist.

Our Saturday clothes full of adventure and sunlight will be left carelessly crumpled on the floor of my room, little bits of leaves and dirt scattered about—now nothing more than just artifacts of our late night walk in the rain, but still smelling like rusty promises and a desire so hot it will singe your fingertips as they slowly UnCloth me.

I want a Sunday kind of love.

Although you’ve been undressing me for a while now—first my skepticism and sarcasm fell from my shoulders like heavy stones to the bottom of a cold rushing river; I stepped out of my insecurities and fears while you held my hand and that now seem to have been misplaced somewhere along the way.

My masks of who and what I should be that I wore for far too long now collect dust and seem like nothing but sad old memories that I have no need to cling to any longer.

Just when I will believe I couldn’t bare any more of myself to you, you’ll take your hands and draw the soft blue cotton of my dress up around my hips, my waist, exposing my breasts, over my head tossing it…

Politics / Otos Umusu: Now Your Watch Is Over Warrior by chizgold80: 3:13am On Dec 24, 2016
There is nothing as earth shattering as the manner in which I learnt of your demise.Usually, Betty sends me news links, so when she sent me one that black day about a soldier killed by Boko Haram, I didn’t really take it as something that needed my urgent attention (goes to show how much we never appreciate the travails of our soldiers). But she had followed it up with a request that I call her. So I called and her voice was so low that I could barely hear her. But I did make out the expression “Have you seen the link I sent?”, and in a bid to show that I had gone through the link, I quickly clicked on it. Your pictures assaulted me, and the news that followed the pictures took the wind off me. I needed it to be a dream; I wanted so much for what I was reading to be false.

A blanket of anguish seized my heart, knotting it in pains. Otos was gone.I felt winded, and the tears came despite my attempt at being a “man”.

The first thing to do was to put a call through to Ufuoma, but what was I going to tell a 33-year old, who suddenly found out that she is a widow? Was I going to tell her that everything will be alright? How in hell can anything ever be alright?

When I finally called, I blurted out “How are you doing?” And she gave me the apt answer; “How do you think I’m doing?”

The days that followed have been horrible days. In dealing with my own pains, I tried to imagine what Ufuoma will be going through. I pick my phones daily to reach out, but again, what do I tell my young sister? How do you build strength in a 33-year old? How is she to deal with this cruelty? What do you say; what do you do?

Otos,God, or the Fates bleeped shit up here. Daylight was cut short at midday.

But it could have been better, you would have still been here with us if at least the blabbering government had equipped its military with all that is necessary. As I heard, you bled out, why wasn’t there an equipment to aid in stemming the bleeding until you could get better care? We have questions, but I am more interested in calling out a government that defeats insurgency only in the...

Romance / Dear Pretty Young Woman Flirting With My Husband by chizgold80: 2:28am On Dec 24, 2016
Thank you.

My husband is hot. It’s one of the many reasons why I married him. I know you think he’s hot too, and I’m cool with that.

He likes the attention. In the store. At the restaurant. You make him feel visible. You make him feel like “he’s still got it,” and that’s a good thing.

And I’m not mad or jealous.

Maybe I envy your gorgeous hair, your lovely, smooth body, and your wrinkle-free eyes, but I’m actually glad I’m not where you are in life right now. You’re still trying to figure things out. You’re looking for something that feels real to you, and fulfilling, and substantial.

You want meaningful.

You’re out there in the world trying to conjure your future, following everything and anything that will manifest your dreams. It’s a bitter-sweet place to be, but time is on your side. I remember it well.

I love that my husband feels good about himself. When you pay attention to him, he feels happy and confident. And, let me tell you, him feeling happy and confident works in my favor.

You see him in his khaki pants, and his sexy buffalo-plaid flannel shirt. You eye his awesome dad bod and his expensive boots, and you just can’t resist. He’s adorable in all the right ways. I get it.

I know he kind of looks like George Clooney. I know he’s aging ridiculously well, like a soap star. His salt and pepper hair, boyish face, and kind brown eyes are a beautiful combination. I know how it feels when he smiles at you and treats you with respect because I feel the same way. That’s who he is. He’s a pretty great guy. He looks at you directly, and he listens. He laughs at your….

Romance / I’ll Never Regret Loving You by chizgold80: 2:11am On Dec 24, 2016
Though the world may spin and collapse in your absence—I will never regret loving you.

There were days when I had chased this love away as the sun tries with the dark and treacherous storm clouds, yet part of my journey was realizing that I needed the time in the rain to truly appreciate the beauty of growth that it could bring into my life.

I didn’t want to love you, but even that was a lesson that I continually pricked my finger upon, until I finally gave in, because fighting it just took too much effort.

This life is made up of a million moments—some we wish could last forever, and others we close our eyes trying to erase the memories, but each one with you is one I know that I will hold onto forever.

I don’t know if I have the words to describe all that has transpired between us, but I do know that I don’t regret a single second. You were always exactly what I needed to experience in that moment, whether it was tears, or the way your lips felt against my collarbone as you broke through my walls to the heart that awaited you on the other side.

You were what I needed to experience.

Of course there was a part of me always hoping for a different ending. One where I would find you steady and sure against my side on the darkest of nights and whispering with me under the soft light of the moon—but I know better than to try to force my own agenda against what is meant to be.

And so, I always let you go. I let you go softly, and with bitterness. I’ve let you go with tears and with smiles, and I’ve let you go in a thousand and one ways that only….

Romance / I Am On Fire With Desire For You by chizgold80: 1:51am On Dec 24, 2016
I know that what beats between us is not just sex, but right now, tonight, all I want is you.

I don’t want you just for the man who I see, I want you for the man who you actually are.

The one who I know I bring out in you.

And tonight, I want that man—I want you—to touch me.

I want you to touch me here and there, and simply f*ckin’ everywhere.

While we set fire to these sheets, we also set fire to each other’s souls.

I’ve finally stopped trying to figure it all out, because I never really came up with any tangible answers anyway.

Because now I’ve simply decided to let go and fall into you.

I don’t want to just float safely upon your passionate breath but I want to submerge myself in the desire that floods our bodies and makes us fly into the impossible.

I want to make you burn with the same fire that you ignite within me.

So, tonight, I just want to leave everything that we should have done at the door, along with our clothing of tightly woven securities, and take you into me.

Into the snug place of wellbeing and high voltage energy that leaves us gasping because of its realness, tumbled by the dizzying fantasy of it all.

I tried to fight these flames for so long—to submerge myself into the cold waters of reality, trying to find the bottom once again.

What I found though, is that no matter how I tried, my desire just kept coming back, stronger than before.
So this time, I just want to see how hot you can get me and how much I can make you sweat, with my ravaging flames.

Everything else between us, besides the sex, makes the sex itself so….

Romance / Cheating: 2 Uncomfortable Truths About It That We Need To Hear. by chizgold80: 3:21am On Dec 20, 2016
Cheating is a touchy subject, and most people profess very clear ideas about it. But 95 percent of the time, when we talk about “cheating” in relationships, our use of the word isn’t even appropriate.

If that sounds outrageous, please read on.

“Cheating” means:

doing something behind someone else’s back…
with the intention of harming them.

On a poker table, the cheating player is trying to damage the other opponents. In business, people cheat to get an advantage over a competitor.

But what about relationships? Is it often the case that someone does something behind our back, with the intention of harming us?

Yes, people may sometimes cheat on their lovers just to make them suffer. But how common is that? This probably only happens about five percent of the time. In most other cases, cheating doesn’t have anything to do with the partner being cheated on — which is a hard truth to digest. Let me illustrate this point.

If I complain that my girlfriend has cheated on me, it really makes it sound like what happened is about me. That she and her other lover are doing whatever they are doing just so they can hurt me.

This puts me both in the role of the victim, and in that of the main character. But most of the time, I’m neither. They’re probably just enjoying themselves, and not thinking about me. I’m not the star.
This is the first uncomfortable truth:

What is happening between my partner and his or her other lover has only got to do with the two of them. It is not about me.

My partner and her lover like each other, and they want to connect intimately. They would do it if I didn’t exist. And they want to do it even…

Romance / Do You Want To Get Wet With Me? by chizgold80: 4:45am On Dec 18, 2016
“I know I am a handful but that’s why you got two hands.” ~ Unknown
This isn’t about just the act of getting wet with me—but about seeing if you’d be alright with being submerged in my waterfalls.

Although I burn, the truth is that I flow as well.

I drip, and sometimes I even gush—though not every lover can be the sailor skilled enough to ride my waves.

I love your kind of sex, but here are some things that I would like to do with you.

Definitely when no one was watching. Most likely no one even knows about you and me and the fire that we have begun to create.

I have levels which no one besides you has experienced—and whether or not I understand it, you somehow have unlocked them all.

I’d like to get wet with you.

I’d like to UnCloth one another and let the warm water of the shower cascade over our bodies until I can slide my skin along yours, making you gasp in the simple delight of the way it feels to have my whole body in your hands.

We’ll take our time and enjoy the physical sensations of the moment until you feel me shudder and gasp against you as I gently bite your shoulder.

Because darlin’ I’m beginning to think that there are just certain things I need to do with you to stop burning the way I am.

There are secrets in my oceans that I’d like to let you explore—taking you to places that I’ve never led anyone else before.

Sex is just sex, and sometimes it’s something more.

Don’t yet ask me what more it is, because right now I don’t really think we need to say....

Romance / My Favorite Part Of Sex Is You. {adult} by chizgold80: 10:06pm On Dec 17, 2016
While there may be innumerable aspects of you that I love, none compare to the feeling of having you inside of me.

For some reason, I crave being naked with you more than I ever have with another—it’s almost as if our clothes are just an unnecessary and unwanted barrier between us.

There was never an instant when I didn’t enjoy the times we spent bare-skinned and dewy from exploring one another’s bodies, yet perhaps now it’s less to do with the act itself and more to do with the person I am experiencing those moments with.

I trust you—not just in the way of words, but with my very body—and more importantly, I am now seeing my soul.

In the distance of seasons, I have realized that while we’ve had sex numerous times, it wasn’t until recently that I really let you into the world of me.

I suppose the truth is that I have finally stopped trying to be anything other than the woman you seem to delight in, while I straddle your lap kissing away time.

This isn’t a moment of certainty or promises, but rather the delectable magic that occurs when we can simply live in the moment relishing in whatever pleasure it brings. I never assume or take for granted that we will have more time, so perhaps that is what truly makes it taste so sweetly in these moments.

No matter how long it’s been, my body begins to vibrate when you are in my atmosphere, making my legs tremble with the seduction of lingering touches and......

Politics / Help-mate Consult’s Staff Confirm They Were Contracted By An APC Chieftain To Pr by chizgold80: 11:14pm On Nov 07, 2016
More sordid revelations have emerged of alleged attempts to rig the December 10 Rivers rerun poll in favour of the All Progressives Congress(APC).

The police had on a tip-off stormed the printing press, Help-Mate Consult, located at 12 Isiokpo Street D-Line Port Harcourt, where it arrested the company’s director, Atonye Peterside(there are indications that this is not his full name), and other workers for allegedly printing fake INEC result sheets for the ten local government areas where the rerun is to take place.

Earlier reports claimed Peterside is a notable member of the APC from Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of the state, but the state APC Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, said in a statement that no member of his party was involved in the act or arrested.

He in fact stated that the whole thing was stage-managed by the state governor, Nyesom Wike, and the PDP to put the APC in bad light.

But soon after the news broke out, more details have emerged that....

The effort by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to bring lasting peace to the troubled Niger Delta region hit a snag on Saturday November 5 as Government Ekpemupolo also known As Tompolo and Asari Dokubo threatened war.

The Niger Delta Militants clearly dissociated themselves from the meeting the elders from the oil-rich region had with Buhari in Abuja, last Tuesday.

Apart from distancing themselves from the meeting, they warned the Federal Government not to rejoice yet over the recent rise in oil production in the country, threatening that a series of attacks await oil facilities in the region in the days ahead.

The militants also asked the Federal Government to drop the charges against Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, and other leaders from the region.
