We should be careful with Lithium ion cells. In all my builds I don't get close to Li ion batteries not because I cannot handle them but I always picture the client as a child that could not handle things well. So I opt for LIFEPO4 and except when extremely necessary (like Electric bike batteries) I go for prismatic cells instead of cylindrical cells |

ksmart027: Good day everyone. Please there is this 18ah lifepo4 battery i use for my rechargeable fan. Recently while changing the bms got damaged. I replaced with another bms and i noticed is no longer changing. I dismantled the cells and discovered using a multimeter that some cells has no volts.
Please is there a way i can revive this cells or should i replace them? Your inputs are appreciated It's dead and gone. You'll have to replace it. Also try not to directly solder the battery and if you must, let in not exceed 5secs per solder. Pro tip: always keep cotton wool soaked with methylated spirit close by and place immediately at solder joint after each solder to absorb the heat immediately cos lifePO4 batteries do not like too much heat |

iraybuju: That’s story for the gods oh, over discharging and over charging and charging with too much current will reduce the lifespan of the battery, any action that causes heat to the battery reduces its life If you heard me right I said calendar aging degrades your battery faster than your DoD and cycle count. That means cycling does degrade but the more thing to worry about is calendar aging. Now with advancements in lifePO4 technologies a good quality high capacity lifePO4 prismatic cell will last pretty long for you and will serve it's purpose even when the state of health reduces to 80 or 70% and that will take years and by then there'd be better technologies. I saw 628Ah prismatic cell the other day and even saw one up to 1000ah the other day in one of valto's post. As more and more capacities come, these ones price will keep reducing. So why bothered about your 100ah or 314ah battery lasting 50 decades for you ? |

ajabani4allah: Are you saying that discharging lifepo4 down to 2.5v everytime will not have significant effect on its degradation? See the links above. There are more sources out there. Also note that I didn't say it'll not have effect on the battery but that calendar aging will affect the battery more than the charge cycles will. So even if you don't use the batteries they'll still be degrading due to calendar aging . The video below explains it best cos it compares battery compression, charge cycle and DoD and calendar aging |

ajabani4allah: Cell UV values have been misplaced, the 2.7v should be for UV Alarm while the 2.5v should be for UV Protection and the 2.8v for UV Protection Release. This should be the reason why you are not getting the complete 100Ah but remember that this overall setting is an overstressed setting, it's equivalent to discharging and charging your battery from 100% to 0% and from 0% to 100% respectively everytime. This will degrade your battery and reduce its life cycle Age degrade lifePO4 faster than depth of discharge. Many experiments have shown that. I can give you some links if you think otherwise. DoD is only significant for lithium ion batteries not lifePO4 |

DesireV: Individuals don't disintegrate from a country. If you break Nigeria into 10 countries today, none of the 10 will be made up of only adherents of a faith. I'm not even sure there is a state in Nigeria today with 100% population of adherents of just one religion. There are minorities everywhere. How do you protect their interests? Breaking a country along religious lines isn't the best. It's even selfish of you to think asking the North to go is fair. Do you think about Northern Christians? Do you think Southern Muslims won't seek the protection of their interests? Rather, a system that protects the interest of every citizen is better. A system that will protect Deborah Yakubu among Muslims and pregnant Harirah Jubril with her children among Christians. A system where everyone is protected and tolerated!
Your second paragraph is the intolerant you trying to dabble into what you're ignorant of. It's not correct anyways. Lolll. Islam enjoins Muslims to respect the authorities. Nigeria is a secular state and the system of governance is democracy. This doesn't mean the basic rights of Muslims guaranteed under the same secular constitution should be trampled upon. As at today, the constitution guarantees every Nigerian freedom of belief and association. Our constitution recognizes the sharia legal system. I will implore non Christian Nigerians to tolerate the rights of their fellow countrymen as guaranteed in the constitution. You've said many things bro. I'm not against them neither do I have the wealth of time to comment and prove some points. I've been in the north and I've had personal experiences what you've written is good but it's not achievable truth be told |

DesireV: Are you sure you want us to have this topic? The customary laws protect the traditionalists' beliefs. The common and civil laws have origins in England and Roman Christianity based laws which protect Christians' beliefs.
Where should the Muslim Nigerians take their affairs? Don't they have the freedom of belief as enshrined in the constitution and international human rights laws?
Shariah laws aren't in conflict with the constitution of Nigeria. The constitution permits shariah law.
Nigerian Muslims are disadvantaged courtesy of the faith based colonialism we had. Missionary was part of the goals of the colonial masters. They gave us our systems which give Christians undue advantage. If anything, the system is "Christianized". Before colonialism, what do you think our forefathers were doing on Saturdays and Sundays? Now, everyone has to observe these two days as "weekends" against his or her wishes simply because seventh day adherents wanted Saturday and the other Protestants and Orthodox Christians wanted Sunday. Then it became binding on all. This is just one. Good write up. Then I ask, if there's political disputes between 2 candidates of non Christian background why don't they take it to the sharia court since the whole system is Christianized? |

1. 12V 104ah lithium ion battery - N185,000 2. 12V 100ah Lifepo4 battery - N203,700

Wizyoung: I just got a PWM souer cdrge controller of 30A for a LifePO4 battery of 50Ah and panel of 200W 18v(12v). Any advice boss and do you think I can manage with the pwm since I can't afford mppt for now?
The Charging and power of pwm can be adjusted for desired battery type (3 battery types are supported by the config on the CC) Assuming your battery is a 12v battery pack (my guess), the capacity is 12.8v * 50ah = 640wh Now you have a 200W panel. A PMW just like a buck converter steps down the panels output voltage to around 14.5v to charge the battery (a lifePO4 12v battery voltage is full at 14.6v). Assuming your single panel outputs 70% of its rated power = 0.7 x 200w = 140w (very unlikely from my experience), it will take about 4.5 to 5 hours (640wh/140w) of full sunlight to charge from 0% to 100% as long as you're not using the system while it's charging. |

MGDIMA4: Lithium Battery Capacity: 100Ah Nominal Voltage: 12.8V Sorry about that. I think something is happening in one of the parallel groups. May be one or few cells are bad drawing the group's voltage down to BMS cut off voltage. If you are technically inclined you can dismantle the battery pack and test the individual groups then check all cells in the defective group. If could be a case of disconnections of some cells from the group or some cells are just bad. This is one of the challenges with using cylindrical cells and also not using new cells that are identical in all measures. |

Small Build Update for My New 4S LiFePO₄ Setup
I originally planned to buy 4 pieces of used 12V 75Ah batteries for this build, but after thinking about longevity and reliability, I decided to switch to brand-new LiFePO₄ cells instead. I got a set of 4× 3.2V 314Ah prismatic cells from Valto, and honestly this was the best decision for the project.
Before trusting the ratings, I bought a shunt meter to run a full capacity test. The result surprised me — instead of the expected 314Ah, the pack delivered a solid 333Ah!. Total energy measured came out to be 4.26kWh, which is even above the standard 4kWh estimate for this configuration. The cells arrived well-matched and balanced, and the packaging and condition were all clean and professional.
Attached is a screenshot from my meter showing the test result. The cells behaved exactly like genuine, high-quality LiFePO₄ should.
I’m still working on the rest of the build - BMS wiring, enclosure (still waiting for my JK BMS). I used a simple unbranded 4s 100A BMS for the capacity test and discharged with 8 pieces of 12v 55W halogen car headlights connected in parallel
I’ll drop more updates as the installation continues.
(picture was taken after the BMS under voltage cut off)
