Gracey259: They do because the Constitution "accommodates" elections. Nairaland has no court room. The lady is doing this from her own "church mind". Just take a look how you have just been littering here with your tantrums. Please learn to walk when things don't favour you. This is not an insult but an advice. |

HOW I SPENT MY HOLIDAYS AND MY GOALS FOR 2020 Who doesn’t love holidays? They are special periods we make out time to see, visit and spend some quality moments with our loved ones. My adrenaline was at its peak as I penned down my holidays destinations; the Eastern Nigeria, a region I love so much. As the alarm woke me at exactly 4:50am 24thDecember 2019, I jumped out of the bed and had a very fast shower. I wore my cloth and dashed straight to the car, said my prayers and hit the road heading to the East. Off course everything was packed into the car the previous night. I knew it would be a long journey driving through many states and obviously many “potholes”, so I was really prepared for it. I had my bitter kola, my selected musicals and some bottles of Coca- Cola which will help keep me from dozing off the steering. Finally got to Aba few minutes after 9PM with shouts of joy emanating from my friend’s apartment after being away for 9 years. The excitement made me forget I had been sitting and driving since 5am from Lagos. After the exchange of banters, we headed for a local “bush meat joint” where we had numerous plates of “Isiewu” {Goat Head} and other native delicacies till it was Christmas morning. We retired back to the house at about 3:46am Christmas Morning. I woke around 8am to sound of fire crackers courtesy of the young boys and girls in the neighborhood. Brushed my teeth and decided to move around the area to see some other folks who I haven’t seen or heard from for years. It was an emotional re-union. Many of us are now fathers, doing well and ageing well too. A lot of our female folks are married; some are still living within the neighborhood. With the permission of everyone and their partners, we fixed a very quick get together that same Christmas day. We sat, played and joked. We relieved of all the good old memories and then I realized that life is truly in stages. We all now have “higher” responsibilities parental responsibility. We formed a Whatsapp group, bade goodbye to each other and then left for our various homes. Very early in the morning of 27th I left Aba for Owerri, I had a traditional wedding to grace. I got to Owerri by 8:30AM, lodged in a hotel and slept till 1:30PM. I had a cool shower, dressed up and headed for the event. It was my courses-rep in school that was wedding. I got there and the show had already kicked-off. The girl looked familiar and I loved the way they stared at each other. When the couple began their dance, I moved forward to spray some cash on them, the normal Nigerian/ Igbo way. As I did I looked closely at the girl and remembered immediately this was the same girl our course-rep always referred to as his cousin. They always moved together then in School. If any guy wanted to make a move then, he would tell us she was his cousin. In fact this even made us even help our friend in looking out for the girl and “spoiling shows” for other guys in school in the guise of looking after our friends “cousin”. We all laughed out so loud because we all came for the event. We found out we were all played. We had an after wedding party at another location thereafter I headed for my hotel room for the night’s sleep. I left Owerri the next day 28th for Enugu to see my Sister and the family. I arrived late in the afternoon and had a very delicious beans and plantains. I got nice gifts for my nieces and nephews and then quickly settled for a long gist with my sister. We always had many. The husband came and was excited because he never knew I was coming, it was a secret. He sent for “Nkwobi” and drinks. We had that till late into the night when we all retired to sleep. I accompanied my sister to the market the next day, helped her with all we bought. Got home, she made a delicious Nsala soup and I had to do good justice to it with two {2} wraps of pounded yam. We all went out for a musical concert that night and returned home late in the night. The kids slept of immediately as my sister and I settled for another round of gist till few minutes past 4AM in the morning. I had to sleep because I would be visiting Awka that day. I arrived Awka by 1PM 30th December, met my friends and we then visited a lot of places. I made sure I was not going to be out beyond 6PM as I needed enough rest so I could drive safely back to Lagos the next morning. I had good plates of pepper soup, rice with ofe akwu. My stomach was so disappointed as there was enough to eat I was scared of paying the price {Purging} the next day. The holiday was over by the time I woke the next day 4:30AM 31st December. I prayed, had my bath and hopped into the car. Lagos I headed. As I drove I remembered every single event I attended and everyone I met since I visited the East on 24th. I had no reason not to thank God for all I am and all I will be. In the midst of all these enjoyments/ fun, I saw some people who couldn’t afford even the basic things of life particularly the widows, who were struggling with the role of a mother and a father. I saw children whose future looked so bleak. I knew that their condition and whatever they’re going through will be included in my 2020 goals. As I seek to know God more, grow more in my career. As I watch my family grow and break strides, I will have to accommodate some of these widows/ orphans/ Aged in my goals. A whole lot of people are suffering and I will contribute my own little quota to humanity. I arrived Lagos weak and tired, picked my bags from the booth and walked into my apartment with a smile on my face. A smile of an accomplished holiday tour! 4 Likes |

Barrytone: [quote author=Barrytone post=82690776] I have this investment. People pay "before" I give them the keys to the hall. I mean full payment. If you have your building at a good location with good road and car space your hall must be busy with occasions/ programmes. 5 Likes |

2nd of June 2015 I got a call for an Interview in Lagos as a Sales Rep. I was happy about it and I left my base in one of the Eastern towns of the country. I got to Lagos, stayed in my Sisters apartment and practiced all night. Fantasised so much about the job and how to talk so well during the interview. Did I tell you I bought new shoes and a suit for this. Morning came I had my bath, said my prayers and bade mum and my sisters goodbye. I got to the address in Ikeja. I was a bit confused because it didn't look like a company but like a residential area. I got into the building and asked a guy washing a car if this is "XYZ" company and he said yes. I stood waiting for the the staff to come around which they did around 9am. My interview time said 8:30am. When the opened the door I went in with them, they gave me a seat and told me to hold on for the "Oga". I sat while watching the rehearsing in my head for the purported interview. Around 10am a man walked in wearing a " Coat ", not even a suit. A " coat " the size of Dangote trailer on his extremely slim body. He beckoned I joined him I'm his office, then I learnt he was even sharing this tiny spaced office with three other "companies"... chai!!. He began his questions and I was answering, then all of a sudden he told me he was recruiting for a very big company in Lagos. He told me they can pay any amount provided I always met my sales target. He said they are contactors to Coca Cola, NBPlc, etc. When we were done, he now called the Supposed MD of the " big company " and the man told him he's around that I should start coming. When I was leaving he joined me and begged me for money for breakfast that he forgot his Wallet at home. I just had little money on me as I never envisaged that I'd have to go to another address for another round of interview. The rain had already started, I don't know anywhere in Lagos as I'm not based there, but I squeezed out #500 and gave to him feeling happy this would even make him recommend me more for the job. He advised I should go under the rain, Chai Chineke, with my new shoes and suit plus my credentials. The road was also flooded but I set in. He told me the Company is at "xyz" road by Wewe Chemist. I never hear that name before "wewe Chemist". He told me to get to Oshodi bus stop and then find a bike to the place. I trek o till I come reach where I go enter Oshodi bus for Ikeja. I was asking everyone how to get to that address but no one knew. When we got to Oshodi I luckily met an Igbo Mechanic who had an idea of the place. He called a bike man and the bike said #400 to the place. Odiegwu, the only money I had was #300. Do I find my way back to my sisters place or do I find a way to this" big company " as I believed Satan was doing all he can to deny me this job. The Igbo guy saw the look on my face as the bike man said #400 for the fare. He asked me what I was going to do there, I told him I was going for an interview. By then my shoes and Suit don soak water finish. He pitied me and paid the bike man, wished me luck and we set out. On getting to that road, the kind of Old dilapidated houses I was seeing was a turn off, but my mind kept on telling me " o boy chill the company go stand out for this area". As we got to the address the bike man rode past as me self nor believe na the 'big company ". We got to the end of the road and there was no company at all, I told him to turn make we begin search again. We got to that same Number again, I now saw the supposed 'big company" name written clearly on the wall of this one- room apartment. The building self don tire and the next rain would surely sweep off the building. There were little grasses on the compound. The bike man looked at me and looked at the building. He asked "Oga dem look you finish come say make you work here"?( He heard when I was conversing with the Igbo Mechanic I was coming there for interview). Me self look my suit, my new shoe as rain don design every every. I didn't even come down from the bike, I just told him I'm going to Bode Thomas " please take me to where I can find my way back biko'. He took me to Oshodi-Apapa Express way and gave me details on how to get back to my place at Bode Thomas. When I got home I couldn't talk for more than 30mins as mum and my sisters were even eager to gist them how I landed the job. When I started and concluded my ordeal, dem laugh tire even as that first man collected #500 from me. Till today I still have that shoe and suit with me, they always remind me of my funny movement that day in June 2015. 22 Likes 4 Shares |

All the People saying the "Publishers" should attach their reference numbers alone; my question is what if after sacrificing themselves to publish this and it then opens the way for all of you by making the "Presidency" to see to it that everyone who's on the merit list gets absorbed would you guys apologise to th publishers? Since it seems the "publishers" don't want to backtrack, you now have to pray that whatever decision that will be taken after the publishing turns in your favour. Mind you I didn't write the test, not even the interview. I just bumped into this thread and it's been an interesting read for me. Two years is so long for a recruitment for Christ sake, everyones emotions differ. Maybe one person can hold on but another can't I'm not an Interested party to this recruitment but Dear "Publishers" majority are begging for month end, please see reasons and wait. Month end is just next week. 5 Likes |

misterEli: The honest truth I'll tell you is to Practice SHL.. go for a time based practice and work on your speed and accuracy. Go online and search for them. Read and know about Process issues too, that is if you'll be writing the Technical test too. The bottom line is Practice, Practice and Practice with speed and accuracy. When are you writing and where? |

misterEli: You'd always need information but you'll never ever help with yours. Even from the other Total thread people have been asking you questions but you'll pretend you don't see/read only to be asking around for Info. |
