EducationDs Adegbenro Ict Polytechnic Rector To Resign Within 24hours In Office by Choochai(op): 11:11pm On Sep 23, 2019
NAPS rejects alleged tuition fee increase by DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic Authorities
The National Association of Polytechnic Students has vowed to resist plans by the authorities of DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic to increase tuition fees by #5,000.
Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye, National Public Relations Officer of NAPS, in a press statement on Tuesday alleged that NAPS had received the report that the authorities of DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic led by Dr. Olufemi Fatade had concluded plans to jack up tuition fees.
Ijaduoye said the leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) on Tuesday gave the authorities of DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic 24 hours ultimatum to revise the schools fee of the institution to the initial fee. Also, NAPS demands for the resignation of Dr. Olufemi Fatade.
Ijaduoye however, alleged that Dr. Olufemi Fatade intends to blackmail the government of Prince Dapo Abiodun by making education a “debt” sentence to the students of the institution. Therefore, demand for his immediate resignation.
“It is no longer news that things are not rosy with the students of DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, especially as it relates to tuition fee, student rights, fair representation and welfare. The authorities of the DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic led by Dr. Olufemi Fatade has carried an independent assignment to deal with its student by increasing tuition fee with an additional sum of 5,000 naira.
By this fee hike, what the DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic authorities appear to be doing is to blackmail the Prince Dapo Abiodun Administration. This same leadership did not deem it fit to increase fee even when the last administration was not concerned about the education sector in the state. Also, having thirteen tertiary institution in the state, none is thinking of doing such in this critical time except DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic. We won’t let this go so that other institutions will not use DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic as an excuse to increase fee. Therefore, the National Association of Polytechnic Students NAPS, hereby calls for the immediate reversal of the added fee.”
He further explained the previous and new fee to be paid by the students. He also acknowledged his displeasure on other fees he termed as “unnecessary”.
“We urge the students of DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic and members of the public to condemn this extortion. We can not imagine an increase in ND fee from #55,000 to #61,000 while HND fee increases from #71,000 to #76,000. We should also reminde everyone that this students will have to pay for house rents, sundry fee of #12,000, developmental fee of #15,000, late submission of file #10,000 and updating of file which cost #5,000. We insist that education must not and should not be a “debt” sentence. This matter is therefore a matter of urgent state importance”.
Ijaduoye further encouraged the rector of the institution, Dr. Olufemi Fatade to tender his resignation due to his lack of quality leadership and student friendly act.
“The fee hike in DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic is a confirmation that Dr. Olufemi Fatade is tired and needs to step down from the leadership seat of the institution. Hence, the leadership of NAPS demands the resignation of Dr. Olufemi Fatade as the rector of DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic to further enhance growth, student rights, fair representation and welfare in the institution”.
He, therefore, called on parents/guardians and the good people of Ogun state to join hands with the association to fight the course on behalf of the students.

EducationNaps Prompt To Efcc To Investigate Management Of Ds Adegbenro Ict Polythecnic. by Choochai(op): 11:04pm On Sep 23, 2019
The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), an umbrella body for all Polytechnics, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the Rector, Registrar and Deen of students affair of D.S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic for extortion and misappropriation of the institution fund.
The Public Relations Officer of NAPS in Nigeria, Comrade Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye, made the call in a statement made available to news men in Abeokuta on last week Tuesday .
“The attention of NAPS, an umbrella body for all Polytechnics,, has been drawn to an injustice going on in D.S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic which aim of the authorities is to extort the students billions of Naira.
The rector of D.S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Dr. Olufemi Fatade have decided to use his doctorate degree to extort over 5,000 families in the name of tuition fee with other abnormal charges. Also, his accomplice which is the registrar and the deen of students affairs collaborate in this acts.
“We can not imagine an institution with over 5,000 students that pays #55,000 and #71,000 for a calendar year in the national and higher national diploma respectively. Other abnormal fee includes, sundry fee of #12,000, developmental fee of #15,000, late submission of file #10,000 and updating of file which cost #5,000. All these do not leave the clearance fee out for freshers. In the 36 states of Nigeria, we have never heard of students’ affairs fee, this institution is the first to do such.
“We urge the students of DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, the reputable government of Ogun state and members of the public to condemn this extortion. We insist that education must not and should not be a “debt” sentence. This matter is therefore a matter of urgent national importance.
“Thousands of Nigerian students in the institution are yet to benefit any meaningful project for three years that Dr. Olufemi Fatade have been appointed, and this is absolutely alarming and contrary to the Anti-Corruption Crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari,’’ Ijadouye said
According to him, NAPS is appealing to EFCC as an ambassador of justice to commence the immediate investigation of the rector, Dr. Olufemi Fatade and the Registrar, Mr Bayo Ogundimu to crop irregularities in the institution.
“It is alarming that a man who is suppose to be passionate, caring and have the progress of students at heart is doing otherwise. Yet, he decided go add #5,000 as a pain affliction on the parents and guardians of the Nigerian students and as such, that is why NAPS is blowing the whistle,’’ he said.
