Me too! I wanted to travel out after my university days and waited for 3 yrs before eventually took my destiny into my own hands and started a small scale business. I am not doing too badly today. I would love to visit as a tourist now and not a permanent resident
proeast: Sure, that's my view but I don't think its off the mark. America is a great country, and I almost had a nervous breakdown about 7 years ago after my NYSC when I was desperately seeking for American visa. There were no jobs then but a maternal uncle who was there couldn't help me come over after all the promise and my family pledging to foot all the bills. Now, I'm into business in Nigeria earning naira & also dollars as a freelancer, my sister have been pressuring me for donkey years to consider traveling to US but I'm no longer interested. I've seen the bigger picture, I own my business in Nigeria & work at a leisurely pace, if I'm to travel to US & make it soon will mean hustling different jobs like crazy while always looking over my shoulder at bills that have to be paid. My university degree wont worth anything there & I'll probably be stuck with menial jobs! Its still my dream to touch foot in US but that will be as a tourist.

The moral lesson here is to try and publish as many Android / Ios app you can as a programmer which would in turn increase your chances of becoming an averagely successful Android/ ios Programmer so that you can earn $400,000 per year!.
Unfortunately, Nigeria has only a handful of Android / ios programmers (less than 100). majority of the programmers in Nigeria are web programmers!(at least 99.6%).They code with languages like Php(Laravel), Asp.net, node.js et.c....these web languages can help you get a few freelance jobs but ultimately you would not make as much money as even an average mediocre Android developer.
This is why developers in Nigeria are struggling!!. And that is why in my previous post i suggested that anyone considering to learn programming should just learn Android /ios programming (kotlin or swift).
Believe me, there are Flashlight apps on the Google Play Store that make more than $3,000 per day

True and likewise in Nigeria. I don't think there is any street presently in Nigeria where you don't have a millionaire or sometimes multi millionaire. So why don't we turn this thread into a connecting avenue where Nigerians in America get contact of trustworthy people they can do business with and likewise those in Nigeria working and doing business with people over there. No need trying to act better than the next person. Success can be found in every environment

You can only go broke in America if you are lazy! Some Naija(and other immigrant from around the world) are even doing better that American citizen. It can only be difficult in the first few months or years in America depending on your situation. But the risk of relocating from Niaja to America worth it X million
The OP is a bit heavy with words but almost all his observations are correct. I have never visited America myself but I read events everyday and have 6 siblings and cousins over there I talk to regularly
I am into real estate. How much do you think will build a standard 5 bedroom duplex and how much do you think an average Nigerian American can save monthly? That will answer your question.
