goldfish80: Please professional football is not age grade competition. Check the average age of Zamalek, Tp Mazembe, Sundowns. Even outside the shores of Africa, what's the average age of Real Madrid and Barcelona? Professional teams should have youth teams who are engaged in their designated national or regional championships, not the main team parading an underage team. Thats true but my point is that they should also be giving youths chance, they should have youth set ups to promote young players at any given time instead of this recycling of old worn out players all the time because no reasonable scout will recommend those old men to any European club. |

Now if u wanna know why other West African leagues have been exporting quality players to Europe compared to the NPFL, watch this match btwn Enyimba and Williamsville of ivory coast. 90percent of the Ivorians look under 20 while almost all the Enyimba players look way beyond their 30s bar Ikouwem Utin Udoh . This match is a match btwn old men and teens. These Williamsville players look like Academy players, they even look younger than Paul Aigbogun's under 20 boys. |

Most especially, Midhat Bajric, Keanan Bennetts and Deji Beyreuther who have all openly indicated to play for Nigeria U20 and SE. While at that, he should also consider players that won the last U17. I think only Kingsley Michael and Samuel Chukweze are eligible to play for Nigeria U20 because they were born in 1999.
I hope Shawn Adewoye and Adam Idah are considered. Can you show us where Bennets openly declared to rep Nigeria abi u dun start again? |

forgiveness: You are right about that. Let us hope Bennetts and Mandela Egbo get to play for their new club in the Bundusliga, Borussia-Monchengladbach before the U20 begins but you should let them now we need them.
I know Bobby Adekanye very well. From his days at PSV to Barcelona back to Eredivise because Barcelona broke UEFA rules and sanctioned for that, before he finally went to Liverpool.
He begged Manu Garba and Emmanuel Amuneke tire to play for Nigeria U17 team but he was snubbed on those two occasions before he agreed to play for Netherlands.
Anyway, he is still eligible to play for only Nigeria SE but he has to g Can u give a link to where he begged those coaches? I can remember vividly Amunike asked him to come down like other kids to slog it out with his mates because there aint no special invitation for any kid. Ejaria, Abuchi obinwa and a few others were never specially invited rather they came down like Isaac promise to fight for their respective places. I could be wrong anyways |

Loogan: Who else has noticed that most of our players from the 2015 U-17 set are not finding it as difficult as the previous generations in terms of adapting very quickly to the high standards in Europe top leagues likes of Kingsley Micheal, orji, chuckwueze, kelechi N....signs of progress in our football BTW where is zakari Lukeman? bundle of talent but no major transfer! Our Academies are improving and gradually we are getting it right age wise. The previous ones found it so hard because most had passed their formative(learning) stages and even their primes when we paraded them as U17s. Guy if u come to Diamond Football Academy umuahia, u will agree with me that we have some good Academies. At Diamond, ur original first school leaving cert is ur primary credential to get admitted, in fact they dont normally take students who aint in secondary schools unless u are extremely good, so no how u gonna doctor ur age and it has grades, hence u are placed where ur age falls. They already have a club in the Portuguese third division where they give their top talents that first European exposure to prepare them well. |

He brings in favoritism. He chooses to promote his U17 players at the expense of quality players out there.
We need a coach with an open mind that can select the best within that age category. Ur first paragraph killed Amunike while ur last paragraph is almost impossible down here in Nigeria because to me, that person doesnt exist in this part of the world. |

forgiveness: Sunderland’s Asoro prefers Nigeria to Sweden
by David Ngobua @Ngobuadavid
Joel Joshghene Asoro who plays for English Championship side, Sunderland has expressed readiness to switch allegiance from Sweden to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Although he has represented Sweden at the U-17 and U-20 level, the attacking midfielder’s parents are Nigerians and so he is eligible to play for the Super Eagles. A confidant of the player, who spoke to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity, said the youngster is willing to dump Sweden for Nigeria, if the Super Eagles coach would give him a chance.
He said the strong forward is ready to give the other strikers in the Super Eagles a fight for shirt in the team that will represent Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
“It is true that Joel has featured for Sweden at the junior levels but he is keen on playing for his fatherland. “Although he was born and brought up in Sweden, his parents are Nigerians and he is yet to feature for Sweden at the national level.
“Joel will bring attacking options to the national team so if I have access to the national team handlers, I would ask them to give the youngster a chance to fight for shirt in the Super Eagles.
“He said he is ready to come if invited. He is also ready to fight for shirt for the 2018 World Cup,” said the player’s associate.
Asoro signed for English side Sunderland in 2015 but made his professional debut on 21 August 2016, in the league against Middlesbrough.
The 18 year old, who has played 9 times for the Sweden U-21 side made his debut when he started in the 1-1 draw against Spain on 5 September 2016 and also scored the last goal in the team’s 3-0 victory over Estonia on 6 October 2016.
https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/amplite/sunderland-s-asoro-prefers-nigeria-to-sweden.html Ur post didnt quote Asoro neither did it quote his agent but an anonymous confidant. Not credible enough even though it sounds interesting. I want to read it from the horse's mouth not from someone who knows someone, that knows someone, that knows Asoro |

charlesemeka85: the best time to capture this kids is when they are yet to reach stardom. the nff should mandate our youth team coaches to add a certain quota of foreign born players in their teams to any tournament. imagine if we were fast enough to get ademola lookman, the kid would have been on of our breakout stars at the just concluded world cup My anger is that during that period, Ademola was a core member of team Nigeria UK handled by the honorable man himself Doherty. Still beats me why he was never considered by Manu even though he was doing well for both Charlton and team Nigeria UK. |

He was invited by the under 20 coach for the Egypt friendly. What Paul Aigbogun is doing with this boy is what Manu Garba should have done with Charlton's Ademola lookman but no, he chose the Sokaris and Bubwas of this world instead. This also is what Amunike should have done with Ebere Eze, Raba Maja, Onyedinma et al but no, he chose under age boys instead. That said, I hope he casts his net wider and not just in the UK. Somebody like Franklyn Akammadu of fiorentina, Shawn Adewoye of Genk, Midhat Bajric of hoffeinhem, Deji Behruether of Frankfurt, Maduka Okoye of Fortuna, even that westham youth team goalkeeper etc should be given a look in |

BascoVanVeli: We will be a very tough side if we make it to the U20 world cup with all these Euro based players gaining experience already. That will only be possible if Aigbogun does not become too loyal to those grandpas he is parading as U20s when they must have given him a worldcup ticket. Dat time sef, some us go support him with d normal cliche monkey nogo work for baboon to chop, hence, doz Dat suffered under this harsh and unfavourable African condition(weather) to qualify us, should be the ones to rep us.
