SailorXY: everyone knows the first 11 minus injuries, not much given away IMO McNair is the only fit/available CB with Rojo Herrera & Rooney will be absent from the team against West Ham, Mata is the obvious choice for Rooney (the world knows that). who slots in for Herrera is anybody's guess. the emphasis is on tactics, not bodies
My problem with him is saying how our back will look like. Blackett is back while some thought Jones is fit. Would have kept his opponent guessing.
coogar: herrera's replacement would be one of fellaini, fletcher or anderson. thank fëck for the international week. by the 20th, at least 6 of the 8 injured players should be up & running.
LvG said no Fellaini so that leaves us with Fletcher, Ando and Pereira.
coogar: everton would be destroyed on sunday. we have the home field advantage & everton just got back from their tie in europa game. the fatigue would tell on them if we make them chase the ball.
We'll miss Herrera, don't know anyone in that midfield to help us in keeping possession.
Btw, I think LvG talks so much about the squad pre-match that the opponent already knows the line-up.
StarBoard: I still think we are gonna struggle. This side hasn't found the necessary balance to move forward in my view.
We have an over-abundance of attacking talent with a dearth of defensive players. The midfield is caught up somewhere in between the two extremes. Add to Louis van Gaal apparently taking the easy route by playing to the gallery in the way he's handled Rooney.
If we make the champions league it will be a huge achievement.
My solace is that apart from Chelsea and City, others are also struggling like us.
SIRcumalot: In my opinion we should just steal everybody at Southampton in charge of youth development. The amount of quality player out of that academy is so good u go start to wonder whether IFA is involved
Manchester United are set to poach Matt Radcliffe from Southampton.
Radcliffe is regarded as one of the best physios in football and his last game before he joins United will be Southampton's trip to White Hart Lane on Sunday.
He is joining United to replace Rob Swire after the long-serving medic retired in the summer and Neil Hough was promoted at Carrington.
elampiro: Four minutes video on all Welbeck 13 goals and 1 assists last season for club and country.
He chip the goalkeeper for about four od the goals. Three of his goals for Man United came from a through ball by Rooney which set him one-on-one with the goalkeeper. I think he is good at converting big chances.
coogar: that was what ruined welbeck's career. i was told by fredthered that it was that moment fergie lost hope completely in welbeck's progress & was earmarked as one of the players to be sold.....
before the game, united's analysts had studied neuer for hours & they noticed the average position of neuer in most games is outside the box. they instructed welbeck that a chance might come where he would be one v one with neuer & he must shoot low to get the better of him.
they recreated different scenes at carrington. they worked at it for several days telling welbeck which side of neuer he must shoot when the chance comes. lo & behold, that chance came at old trafford. welbeck ignored the instructions he was tutored for several days & opted to chip neuer instead.
united crashed out & welbeck's stock dipped.
That guy gave me lots of HBP.
I've noticed he scores more one-on-one when he is positioned by the side than central.
elampiro: A simple solution. Play Januzaj there. He will at least add some creativity. He will complement the forward players well. Then we get Rafael to seat back a little.
That will expose our midfield that is open already. Januzaj is not disciplined for the midfield.
elampiro: * Herrera despite being a midfielder has the highest tackle per match for Man United. Non of our midfielders even comes close to that. Anderson has the worst record * He has the bext record among midfielders in terms of number of clearances. * Interms of interception, only Fellani is slightly ahead. * Herrea has won 50% of his aerial duels. Only Fellaini beats him.
I don't even need to mention his offensive stats. No one gets close to him.
After looking at stats, I want to say Anderson should not even be considered. He has a long way to go.
Not to mention our only MF that scores. When last has any of our midfielders scored?
coogar: time for anderson to step up. he's the most mobile among the replacements. carrick is the best passer though but his lack of movement is a worry.....besides, carrick is a slow starter.
Yeah, Ando's problem is indiscipline. LvG is likely to feature Fletcher and Blind.
