m.skysports.com/article/football//8828148 United poised for business Chief executive Ed Woodward has left Manchester United's tour of Australia early to carry out urgent transfer business - with Sky Sports understanding the deal involves a player arriving at Old Trafford. Although it is unclear what deal Woodward is working on, he apparently told United officials of his immediate departure whilst they were at the State of Origin Rugby League match at ANZ Stadium. Woodward was not at the game and is expected to return to Europe at some point on Thursday. United have been linked with Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, and have already had one bid turned down by the Spanish champions. Everton duo Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini have also been strongly tipped to join their former boss David Moyes at United - with the Merseysiders already rebuffing one offer for Baines. Woodward's sudden decision to return to Britain comes as speculation continues over the future of unsettled striker Wayne Rooney, with United rejecting an approach from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the past 24 hours. He was due to return home on Sunday and his decision to cut short his trip to the Far East indicates the urgency of the situation requiring his attention. |
Fabville: Rooney hates competition. I believe that is his problem. This isn't what I saw on skysports, or did they make it up? |
Well, I wouldn't expect United to accept the 1st offer. Just basic business technique. |
Fab to Cabaye! |
Even Hazard is now a fan of Rooney! I see Rooney going to Chelsea. |
Fabregas buy-out clause is around €200 m. |
E don enta Fabregas now! |
Some fans eeh! So the guy is now not good enough for United?. |
dademola: bt serzly, is it dt we cant sign playrs dt interest oda big clubs, or wot exactly is d problem??More interested in finding sponsorship deals. |
Watch out for another big name from 2moro ![]() |
elampiro: The lastest rumours is Modric. But I am relaxed becuase I believe the club knows best. Moyes can see better than us. He is more experienced than us.No more high hopes 4 me anymore in our transfer until I see them confirmed officially on MU. website |
dayokanu: Who is the best young midfielder in the worldCleverly ![]() |
afrodoc: there are always choices especially this early in the transfer window.the club just has to be proactive that is all.Fellaini and Carrick in d mid? That'll be the dullest mid in Europe! |
Nawa! Those wey get enof still de collect more while those wey no get went n bought Varel* de find Baines ontop. |
DM should not continue wit this Jones in d mid from SAF. |
Unless Rooney doesn't want to leave. If Thiago who we need now and at such a cheap price doesn't go thro then I'll see the alternatives. Just that it's becoming our way in missing out talented players by stalling in transfer like we did in Ronaldinho, Di maria, Moura cases, to mention but a few. |
Moyes on Thiago: "I never said he was a target". http://www.manutd.com/en/Tour2013 /Tour2013News/2013/Jul/david-moyes- press-conference-bangkok-on-transfer- market-search.aspx# Moyes happy with search. United boss David Moyes says he is happy with how his search for new talent is progressing. The Reds manager is continuing to look at ways of adding to this squad following the arrival of Wilfried Zaha and Guillermo Varela this summer. Reports that Bayern Munich are close to signing Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona were said to be a blow to Moyes' transfer plans, even though he has a policy of not commenting on players from other clubs. "We're on with targets that we are chasing at this moment in time," revealed Moyes at a press conference in Bangkok."There are people we are actively chasing and, at this moment in time, we're happy with how things are going." When asked directly if Thiago was still a target, he replied: "I never said at any time that he was." Moyes also brushed off the latest questions about the future of Wayne Rooney, after Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho expressed an admiration for the England international on Friday. "People are entitled to talk about good players," he insisted. "I'm sure Jose has been asked about lots of players as well. I'll keep repeating myself: Wayne is a Manchester United player and he'll remain that." The likely absence for Rooney due to his hamstring injury is expected to be "two or three weeks" and he will work in the gym and pool in Manchester. Guess he is saying this to save his face if we lose out. Cos it would be more stupid if we didn't go for him in the 1st place. I hope Fellaini n Baines are not the people he's chasing cos i don't us becoming Super Everton! |
Ogbeche77: who was sold?To those clamoring for Rooney sale. Let's buy 1st abeg. |
We're are calling for a buy you are selling. |
elampiro: Premier league Spending Spree in this window Till nowLol! Arsenal I hail oo! Well, i jus sit down de look MU n DM, jus pray we don't become like Leeds n Liverpool. Cos now I can't blame those that questioned the future of this club. |
Ogbeche77: Strootman is heading to AS Roma not ChelseaYa. Chelsea is gettin De Rossi while Strootman is slipin away, Thiago is goin 2 Munich and we're doin what? |
I wish this is not true. Chelsea were last night closing in on prime midfield target Daniele De Rossi after completing the signing of PSV Eindhoven's Kevin Strootman - DAILY MIRROR. No Thiago! No Strootman! |
Money gives u trophy in 2day's football oo! It's either u join or u're left behind. |
Here is a good article which explains whya possible deal for Thiago isn't as straight forward as some may think I got from MU forum. http://www.trulyreds.com/20130710 /why-thiagos-release-clause-is-so- complicated/?utm_source=feedburner& utm_medium=feed& utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TrulyRed+%28T he+Manchester+United+fans+blog+%29 |
RuuDie: The gaffer knows best...no shaking as far as I'm concerned! We've been hearing that for close to 5yrs! Our lack in mid has made our football boring and too predictable. If DM doesn't strengthen his mid, he'll fail woefully cos he lacks such Fergie's touch. |
SailorXY: Hmmm hardly vindictive. If price is the issue here, what about the guys that have buyout clause & won't mind joining Man Utd? *Thiago & Fellaini at least* Just activate it & BINGO! All these speculations may be propelled from the Glazer family to get fans excited & buy tickets in anticipation of great talents joining the club. The funny part is that you can deceive some people sometimes but can't deceive everyone every time. I still hear an improved bid will be returned to Everton for Baines.... Shake My Black Dcck VigorouslyWhat marvels me is why we buy players 4 positions we're ok in. Varela for what? And now Baines? These are not our priority. SAF that claimed we're ok in the mid was playing a CB in our mid. Maybe they see this team in a way we fans don't. |
Even GK suppose get hat trick. |
I guess he said that not 2 make us look desperate for MF cos that will high price of any MF we show interest in. Even MU haters know we've only Carrick in that mid for a top club like ours. |
THE SUN Rio Ferdinand has warned Wayne Rooney that if he quits Manchester United he may miss out on more medals - just like Cristiano Ronaldo. Bryan Robson has told Wayne Rooney he'd be a fool to quit Manchester United. This guy should talk on time cos pre-season is here already. Let d club know their options on time. |
elampiro: Where is Coogar? Hope he is fine?Lol! R u missin him now? |
Villa 4 wat? I'll rather take Thiago+Song, that's if Rooney is not willing 2 stay |
