crosbreaka: going by your il-logic, all those foreigners around the world, who left their own problems to tend to the Chibok girls abduction and to protest for the freedom of the girls, also deserve the same brutal treatment by their respective governments/military meted to the people of Zaria, "for not minding their business and setting their priorities straight".

PoliticsRe: Man Shot At PDP Rally For Wearing An Apc Shirt In Osun by ChrisOD: 6:55pm On Jul 27, 2014
Yoruba and deadly politics. There is APC and PDP in other parts of Nigeria and they do not go about killing themselves, unlike Yorubas. Useless people and their senseless politics.
PoliticsRe: Africa Should Heed Botswana’s Simple Success Recipe by ChrisOD: 1:14pm On Jul 27, 2014
A landlocked country doing better than those with sea access. Reminds me of how Biafra will look like in the future. And, Igbos should do well to seriously start planning their population. Good news is that of the three naija biggies, only igbos are doing something that looks like family planning.

But this is a cogent question that Buhari needs to answer. BUhari, why did you put VP Ekwueme in jail and Shagari the actual president in house arrest?

kobonaire: well she's registered in the commonwealth as a Nigerian .... not as a "Igbo national".
All the same she has repped Nigeria and her Igbo community very well. #NaijaPride.
So when Nigerians commit crime abroad, do they do so as Igbo, Yoruba, Edo, as Nigerians or as individuals?
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by ChrisOD: 4:54pm On Jul 25, 2014
Rossikki: Err...yes.., I've heard of Law School and Lagos Business School as well. In higher education, the term school applies to a place where a specialism is taught. That does NOT mean you refer to universities as "schools". In the America you're talking about nobody calls a university a "school". Maybe you're the "village champion". cool
Mumu it's called college in the US. However, college or university. it's all school.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by ChrisOD: 3:55pm On Jul 25, 2014
Rossikki: Can you moro.ns kindly stop referring to our universities as "schools". Thanks.
Village champion, ever heard of Harvard business school?
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by ChrisOD: 3:44pm On Jul 25, 2014
passion007: The only available ranking is from Webometrics, and their sole parameter is internet presence---that's too parochial.

The popular online ranking purportedly from NUC has been disowned by NUC. May be you fell prey to Yoruba hype.

http://www.thenationonlineng.net/new/nuc-disowns-2013-nigerian-varsity-ranking/
Did you say internet presence-based ranking is parochial? Pray tell how else do you make yourself known these days? How do you and I know about Harvard for example? I was in an international scientific meeting recently and the situation of UNN researchers in that meeting was pathetic. They complained about how the administration runs down the research funding there. Most paid with their own money to attend the meeting, unlike those from NAU, FUTA Akure, and even ABSU.

Still, thanks for bringing the fake naija ranking to my attention. Yoruba and propaganda sha.
PoliticsRe: Better Abia 2015: Ihejirika, Dr. Ogah Or Dr Alex Otti? by ChrisOD: 3:26pm On Jul 25, 2014
OdenigboAroli: May God help Abia because that state has so much potentials to even compete with or overtake Anambra. They just need a Peter Obi who will open their eyes and show them what they are missing. Abians aren't even helping matter....They don't care, everybody is just relaxing. I only know of Ihejirika but is he really the best Abians can offer. Abia needs a technocrat like Obiano .
I believe Otti is that one
PoliticsRe: Better Abia 2015: Ihejirika, Dr. Ogah Or Dr Alex Otti? by ChrisOD: 3:24pm On Jul 25, 2014
HisRoyalHardnes: Ihejirika isn't in the contest.

The most formidable structure is that of Dr Ogah. He would either be the gov or hand over his structure to whoever is "anointed" from the Ukwa-Ngwa axis.

Dr Otti stands no chance.
Is Otti not Ukwa Ngwa even of Aro origin?
PoliticsRe: Better Abia 2015: Ihejirika, Dr. Ogah Or Dr Alex Otti? by ChrisOD: 3:23pm On Jul 25, 2014
mikolo80: I beg to disagree running the army is exactly like being a governor. Budgeting from different departments(ministries) and ensuring the money is used judiciously(natural to soldiers)
He has a boss (CGS)and he has close subordinates (GOCs) watching him closely and who he would be wary of. He has no executive power as a gov has.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by ChrisOD: 3:19pm On Jul 25, 2014
passion007: All schools in Nigeria are currently underperforming, no thanks to our jungle government.
But, I'd like to know if there are specific instances you have in mind.
Otherwise, UNN is still at the forefront of scientific research in Nigeria.
Recently,
Dr Nwoga's research has shown great promise in converting Mimosa into solar cells (He already has a patent for this)
Two other lady scientists won the UNESCO prize for science.
This is a modest feat considering that the University attracts the cream of the crop.
Even the Teaching Hospital isn't left out; every Consultant wishes to work at UNTH (even though it's in a village in Nkanu/Awgu). Only when they're rejected do they consider NAUTH, FETHA or the FMCs in Umuahia and Owerri.
In other words, UNN is in a different league altogether.
Those pitching NAU up against UNN are not well informed.
But it'd give me great joy if someday, another Eastern university will start to compare with Nsukka. But for today, there's no comparison!
Okay since you are now comparing schools based on your last paragraph, how does UNN compare with its real peers elsewhere in Nigeria? What is its ranking in Africa relative to other Nigerian universities? I don't even want to go into specific details now as I am typing with a phone.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by ChrisOD: 2:17pm On Jul 25, 2014
Handsomegod: With all due respect to Unizik in their current enviable standard,I wish to halt those who compare it to UNN in their self delusion.Pleasedont fall into such error.I graduated from UNN in 2008 and while in school,we usually wonder the basis for University rankings where u have LASU and many mushroom enclaves placed ahead of UNN.when it comes to research and scholarship, unn is in a class of its own by a long shot. Is it the class of lecturers, faculty, current state of facilities and international affiliations/exchanges and e-learning partnerships? Someone above me said unn lecturers aint selected on merit and I wonder where he got that from.did I hear u say past glory? Landlord travel and see. Please brothers let us celebrate the academic merits of our eastern universities and avoid the temptation of turning this discourse to the unhealthy skirmish that erupts any time a similtude of comparism between two climes surfaces. It is well with us. #teamunn:econs class of 2008#
I am not comparing UNN with any other school. However it is obvious that UNN is underperforming and it is apt to want to know why.
PoliticsRe: Better Abia 2015: Ihejirika, Dr. Ogah Or Dr Alex Otti? by ChrisOD: 1:17am On Jul 25, 2014
filiks: I understand your sentiment bro, but I personally think any of the three will do well.

Ihejirika has nothing to offer in terms of economic mgt? I don't agree with that. Come on man! He managed military funds better than any other person I know of in the history of Nigeria! Do you know how many military facilities he overhauled even while effectively handling the security crisis in the country?
But managing the army isn't as executive (nearly absolute power, per Naija style democracy) as being a governor. I might be wrong in my assessment of him, of course. But I believe of the three Otti is the most fitting.

I feel Abia needs a financial guru like Anambra got in Obiano.
PoliticsRe: Better Abia 2015: Ihejirika, Dr. Ogah Or Dr Alex Otti? by ChrisOD: 12:36am On Jul 25, 2014
Otti fits the bill. Abia has tried a biz man in Kalu, a civil servant in Orji, and now it needs a thorough professional such as Otti who will invest public money in developing Aba city.

Ihejirija has nothing to offer in terms of economic mgt. Ogah is a business man like Kalu who will most certainly run Abia like his private enterprise

spyder880: To restore the dignity of man.
UNN has so consistently underperformed in many academic indices that I get surprised at how this came to be. Bad management or underfunding?
