I have automated processes that research my pages that are loosing rankings, then it compares them to pages that are actually displacing them, it uses that information to update those pages ensuring they retain their ranking or even attain improved rankings. Google love pages that are getting frequently updated and I am actually doing this at scale.

But again, SEO is so hard only people like you and I that are in the game can understand. That's why I always tell people reaching out to me for gigs that SEO is no child's play, it's not something you do and forget, it's something that evolves every single minute.

Sometimes an update might actually push your rankings up. It's not always negative. For me, this particular update seems to be a big plus for my SEO efforts.

True but I am not blogging, I am building distribution for my saas. This makes it more enjoyable and easier to endure the long wait. It takes about a year of active work for efforts to start bringing in decent income.

Google has completed the rollout of its most important update for 2026. Google's core update 2.

This update focused on erasing bot impressions (yes lots of AI agents and LLMs now have google search capabilities and many of them only scrape the SERPs they don't make clicks.) This inflate impressions and lowered CTR.

Core update 2 also de-indexed billions of AI generated pages, low quality pages, etc., a lot of pages were also pushed further downwards because this update made a lot of changes to how Google determines helpful contents.

Amazingly, (and you'd understand why this is amazing if you have been following my posts here on Nairaland), non of my pages were de-indexed! In fact about 200 more pages were indexed after core update 2!

Due to core update 2, I suspended all optimization features I was working on to see how the update itself affects my contents. Also I have been working mainly on my SaaS. However, my overall CTR has now improved to 0.4% and my impressions remain high exepcially as new keywords are getting indexed.

These are not just good results, they are maaaad results. Used to work as a VA for this client and all I had to do was vet and approve guest posts. It was a blog based in Bostwana.

Of the requirements to approve a GP, the most paramount was that, should there be a previous author whose contents are performing really well, then his/her next guest post must be approved.

That gig taught me writing to please the audience and writing to rank can be completely different (as of then though) even now that google is de-indexing pages and bloggers are all over X screaming, you have managed to convince Google that you have good contents.

I am not an expert but I think these are crazy results especially since the platform is new.

I'd be curious to know what this looks like in a year. Wanted to start a blog too, two months in and an unfortunate Nigerian hosting company frustrated my efforts.

So I built a platform https://academial.org called to help students with academic resources and mentorship.
I noticed something worrying with Google indexing. At one point, Google indexed a good number of my pages, but later most of them got de-indexed. Right now, thousands of pages are sitting in “Crawled – currently not indexed,” and the number keeps dropping over time.
I’m trying to figure out if I did something wrong technically or content-wise. The site is still relatively not that new (10 months), and I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with this before.

So far on Nairaland I seem to be the most reputable SEO expert and you can actually check my profile but don't take my words for it without making your own research. The truth is, there is bad news and good news. Let me start with the good news.
thousands of pages are sitting in “Crawled – currently not indexed,” and the number keeps dropping over time. This is completely normal. I am guessing your site is relatively new and you are making a lot of content over a short time frame. Google has a very small crawl budget for new sites. That budget can be further shrinked down if your server is slow, considering that google has to crawl billions and billions of web pages per day, there's only so much crawl budget they can dedicate to new sites especially if over half of you contents are deemed 'good' but not very very good (there's a difference).

Now it is completely normal for you to see that crawl message from google, it means those pages are known and discovered by google but google hasn't made a decision about indexing them probably because your site is too new, has history of poor content or google is just waiting to see how those contents evolve. News sites also have small indexing allowance, if these were not so, it would be possible for anyone to create a million pages website today and google would index all, that would be chaos! the indexing allowance is google's way of telling you; Hey! take your time and make good contents, we are not going to index anything more than ten pages from you this month anyway so why the rush? So you have no worries about that.

The bad news, though it is normal for google to sometimes deindex a few pages. Sometimes two or three of my pages are deindexed each month (happened twice and my site is only 4 months old) (But over 400 pages could also be indexed that same month) If your pages are getting massively deindexed wthout signs of new indexing then you have been hit by the recent google updates. A lot of sites are going through this right now and only when you provide more info can the situation be helped. I'd suggest you read more about the recent google updates online.

This further proves that my content generation strategy is top-notch since real humans and companies have identified them to be really ranking on google and now wants to feature on them. Mind you my platform only recently clocked 4 months.

My contents are technical. SaaS and Business niche.

Don't ask me how I generate contents. Just read my previous post. Google's updates in 2025 became so strict that if yourcl contents are not worthy, they won't be indexed at all and you can see my indexing rate has been increasing steadily which is awesome for a very new website and domain!

Generally the traffic has been steadily increasing. About 110 visitors per day now

I currently manage a private business plus I am working hard on my medical education so honestly I have not been able to optimize anything these past few weeks. The website is barely four months old and is competing with top business and SaaS websites in the USA. So it may not look like it but this is actually a good rsult considering that I am in direct competition with platforms like zapier, anthropic, hubspot, etc.

I plan to wait things out, optimize contents, hired creatives on remote job gigs etc to shake things up and improve it.
For now all metrics on google are fine, no single error. Organic traffic is poor but AI traffic is great! (About a 100 daily clicks from bing AI answers and google AI snippets)

I started working on the real SaaS itself, a mentor in Russia currently employed at Yandex (he's actually a senior developer at their search algorithm unit) advised me to work on the saas and bring it to life. He wants me to stop building distribution and get the SaaS live because search engines will limit my growth if my primary product isn't live yet. Funny enough, I made some research today and discovered that google indexed 99% of all my pages they crawled. Of the very very few pages they didnt index is my homepage! cux' my product is still in the waitlist which means the expert is correct.

It's hard to rank in my niche o and I believe taking on an extablished and competitive niche like Business and SaaS is not for the faint hearted.
