Adultery is sexual relations in which at least one participant is married to someone else. It also refers to marital infidelity. The union of marriage, as instituted by God Himself, is on permanent basis. The man should leave his father and mother and “cleave” to his wife to become one flesh. As far as God is concerned, divorce is a taboo on the corridor of marriage. It is supposed to be “till death do them part”.

The Pharisees came to tempt Jesus by asking if a man can put away his wife (Mk. 10:2). Jesus told them that divorce was not part of God’s original plan for marriage. It wasn’t God’s ideal. Instead, God wants married couple to consider their marriage permanent. Don’t enter marriage with the option of getting out (divorce). Your marriage is more likely to be happy if from the outset you are committed to permanence.

In creation, God removed a rib from the side of the deeply sleeping man, and with it, formed the woman. Let us look at it this way. The process of 'expansion' of the rib bone, humanly speaking, would have ordinarily made the resultant creature, the woman, weaker than the man. No wonder the woman is termed the weaker vessel (1 Peter 3:7).
