cupid4ig: Hello pls I know this might sound sillyYour car probably have a malfunctioned abs module or the electric motor inside the module is bad. the brake will still work without abs but risky |
Hardheolar: thanks very much.. just trying to confirm it cus of d shape of ur camshaft..From the head of the camshaft you will know already it is VVT-i, thats Toyota patent for adjusting the crank angle at different rpm speed. Honda has its own as VTEC |
pragmatistm: I so much appreciate your response. But please I don't know the lower engine side, Can you explain what part of the engine is that and what the crankshaft sensor looks like? Thanks. The crankshaft sensor is located at the back of the engine on the passenger side of the car approx a few inchs above the sump and actually on the engine block itself,i.e near the starter of the car. easily removed with a 10 mm spanner but can be tricky to get at especially if your a novice. Below is how the ckp sensor looks like

pragmatistm: Hello house.Kindly help me. My car developed a problem that it will suddenly switch off in motion whether forward or reversing. Then it will restart and move with some noise coming from the engine. Now it does not start again and makes some poor rolng sound when I turn the ignition. I then scan this morning and got codes P0335 (crank shaft position sensor) and 1336 (CKP Sensor POS cog). Please what could be wrong? The car is Nissan Primera P11 wagon year 1999/2000.Oga, what really happened is that your crankshaft position sensor is faulty, or the camshaft sensor as well is faulty. The P1336 is Nissan specific which automatically triggers on when P0335 is set. You have to locate the crankshaft sensor which is just at the lower engine side along the same area of the harmonic balancer. You have to unplug the connector wires leading to it, you will see the car will have the same running sound, that sound is the starter motor rotating to start the engine but the CKP sensor is bad to actually trigger the right plug to fire at the correct position, so what i mean here is that either it is misfiring at the wrong cylinder or its not firing at all. Check that and revert back. N.B: you can check with a digital multimeter whether the sensor is dead or partiallu dead |
fellow nairalanders, In quest of my furnace building project, i am looking for advice/ suggestion on where i can get an alumina refractory cement of up to a cement bag or so i can use to build my furnace project, it will just have the capacity to melt around 60lbs of aluminium, bronze and other low melting metals. I need good advice on this. Moreover i researched on perlites hardener with portland cement can serve as a replacement to alumina refractory cement. Any good chemical shop recommendation will be appreciated. |
HOW TO CLEAR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (TOYOTA) Actually, for you to clear the check engine light on view isnt done manually but through OBD2 scanning and resetting. you have to read the obd2 scan result to be able to diagnosis and know why the light is showing, its not there for fun. but in a scenerio where you have done all repairs yet the light still comes up, here is a quicky to take it off and keep your dashboard neat. before then, the check engine light comes up as a result of several problems in cars ranging from. 1. The oxygen sensors at the exhaust manifold is bad, this is a critical sensor that controls how the system injects fuel to the cylinders, when it goes wrong you run a risk of having high fuel consumption, it sends data to the vehicle ECU informing the computer how how RICH OR LEAN the fuel it burns out, if there are excess fuel air mixture from the exhaust the injector quirts just a little. 2. bad crank shaft sensor, it reads the position of the crankshaft and sends the data to the ECU for accurate ignition firing 3. when your fuel tank cap is open. 4. Too much dirt inside the engine chamber. and lots more possible causes. To clear the light, simply look at the speedometer, you will see a needle like screw nub, turn the key to ON position while pressing the nub on the dashboard down, hold it for 5-10secs, switch back to OFF, then turn your key to ACC while nub is down again, after 6secs, turn off. remove your battery terminals for about 5mins and fix back. wow, the light is gone! all dashboard lights cleaned! put down your questions for help

Well, making out my little time to help Niggas, yet to roll out video tutorials on youtube. What sort of problem is your vehicle having? Have an idea of your vehicle's problem before taking it to a mechanic. Today [ WHY YOU MUST NOT REMOVE YOUR VEHICLE THERMOSTAT] Modern cars now have a kind of valve regulator that regulates the amount of water coolant entering into the vehicle's engine compartment. it doesn't just flood it always like the old Peugeot 504 we all know, that why when you open the hood of recent vehicles now, you feel like wow! what a great piece of engineering. The thermostat is a mechanical regulator that contains wax inside. when the engines heats up, it melts the wax thereby expanding it, this expansion causes the valve to slack down and allow the coolant to cool the heated engine, this happens approx. around 200degrees. https://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/techarticles/E36-Thermostat/pic4.jpg Most of today's cars and trucks are designed to operate with a 195* F thermostat. If a lower temperature thermostat has been installed, it will affect several systems in your car. A vehicle with a computer controlled carburetor or fuel injection will sense the lower temperature and compensate by making the engine run richer, causing excessive fuel consumption and possibly a high idle. A lower temperature thermostat will also decrease the amount of heat available to keep you warm and defrost your windshield. Then again, if your thermostat is stuck partially or completely open, you will have the same symptoms as an incorrect thermostat. Unfortunately, a thermostat that is stuck only slightly open will cause double trouble. It will make the engine take much longer to warm up, but may not allow enough coolant to flow at high speed to keep the engine cool and might cause an overheating condition. A thermostat can last many years but it might be a good idea to have it replaced the next time your cooling system is being serviced as a preventive maintenance procedure. Also, remember that most manufacturers recommend a cooling system reverse Flush and refill every two years.

pragmatistm: Hello guys. I took the car out for the second tome on a 160km journey yesterday. I just noticed during the journey that the check engine light came on. This morning I did the self diagnostic scan and obtain P0420 which is catalytic code, bank 1. What could be wrong with the engine please? You can as well test the working of your o2 sensors and see if they are still working, 1 good thing with all these sensors is that they really last very long time, yet they can still get damaged; that's why we have the spare part shop. Get a digital multimeter from electronic store, with the red wire of the o2 sensor attached to the red of the multimeter and the black wire of the multimeter attached to the metal body of the sensor, put on a gas burner and gradually take the sensor near to the flame, keep it above the flame. the meter should read sharply to about 0.6V to 0.9V (not more than that). This shows your sensor is working fine and running rich mixture. If approaching the flame and it doesn't show any reading on the meter, definitely your sensor is bad, get it changed immediately, this is very essential to the engines smooth running, modern cars from 1994 I guess have these sensors, the send data to the vehicle's ECU to enable it adjust how much fuel it injects into the system and blah blah blah happening inside the cylinders. so when it goes wrong, the system will definitely be faulty. NB: to use your multimeter, you have to set the range to the lowest voltage range, some meters have it as 2V as the lowest range. Hope it helps

guys just hit the fact straight without bias. Every institution established has a founding Act and principles/regulation on which it was established. You don't tell me that we current generation got wiser or what. Actually, University was established has the highest education institution in Nigeria and world over, meant to award degree, Masters, Doctorate degrees. All have its own cadre. Polytechnics were established to support the university graduates as a middle level manpower. It was all laid down went it was been established! Over the years politics has taken turn to spoil every position in Nigeria. This incident started in the era of OBJ when stella is late wife been an HND holder was not able to accelerate in promotion compared to her degree counterparts. OBJ had to engineer the policy to favour his wife, then they started allowing HND holders go for NYSC. It all started getting messy. Then in academic institution they started looking for administrative positions like HODs which was strictly meant for Degree holders, some institution started making HND holders Acting HOD, you see were it all went wrong. This sort of mismanagement don't occur in developed world. Secondly, i saw some people comparing the knowledge of an Hnd holder to a Degree holder. It's disheartening we all are displaying ignorance here. In current academic environment in Nigeria we have just about 45.8% serious academia who really know what they came for. There some university graduates that don't have anything to offer, well the law of Karma is taking cause; you all can see it with high level of unemployment in our country. Comparing an hnd metal & woodwork now termed mechanical engineering with core mechanical engineering degree we talk of mechanics of machines, thermal analysis, quality control, HVAC, fluid mechanics, advanced gas dynamics, numerical anaylsis of finite elements these few give you the foundation of a pure mechanical engineering course not what they do in poly, its not all about loosing and tightening of nuts, alot of strength analysis is required. We have to keep facts straight. Thirdly, i am mesmerised when i see ppl complaining, you knew it was going to be like this, why go further going to poly since you want to be amongst the ogas at the top. soon enough NCE/TTC will come up and demand equality. shit happens thou. its better you go further, get your degree and save your energy protesting if u really want to lead. Finally, i think FG has to look into the matter, it seems HND holders are marginalized to the extreme which is very bad for work motivation and this nation in general. everyone should feel ok in his/her workstation. thier should be more fairness. Thankyou all |
ITbomb: Forgive my ignorance but do we have Professors in Polytechnics?you just hit nail on the head! |
but it's better to ask questions and be called a fool than to regret later
