Who is/are Izu Anioma and who elected him/them to speak for the Anioma people. We are not Igbos. Every state in Nigeria is made of several ethnic groups that speak different languages, the states were not created based on language. The days of Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba are over, it marginalises other prominent ethnicities, hence the identification as geopolitical zones. The Aniomas preference is to form a brotherhood with Itshekiris, Ijaws, Urhobos and the other ethnicities that make Delta a wonderful, important and welcoming state. All those agitating for Anioma are power hungry and selfish individuals looking to create a puppet state they can control. It will never happen! It is because of people like your that intelligent journalists do not abound in Africa because when we make a publication and present information that is somewhat alien to you, instead of you to do a simple research and learn from it, the first thing you do is to ignorantly attack the author. You even had the audacity to say that I wrote nonsense.
Look at the location of Calabar on the map again before you make a mockery of yourself publicly. Geographically speaking, Calabar, Cross River State is located in Nigeria's South East. Whatever you designate it politically does not change the location on the map. Mr Man this is just crafty. You should know about the political nuances of Nigeria and that the South East Region as far as Nigeria is concerned doesn't include Cross-River state. Stop brewing confusion, it won't work, Ever! |

Ned is wasting his energy. Anioma state will never be a reality. We Deltans are very happy co-existing with our Itshekiri, Uhrobo, ijaw and igala brothers and sisters. We prefer to be affiliated with them than South East. Ebonyi citizens are currently being mocked and treated as second class south-easterners we don't want that treatment. The people of the South-South are more humble, less arrogant, fairer in their dealings and are generally not greedy.
Ned wants to create a puppet state where he can be the supreme power, similar to what is going on in Lagos but it won't work here. |

Believeintruth: Soyinka didn't flee from Abacha, Tinubu too didn't flee abi. Sometimes you guys talk like you have air filled in your skulls in place of brains. I do not support secession, but Nigeria is not doing igbos any favor by not letting them secede, check the income per capita of all the regions in Nigeria. South east has the best income per capita. Take out Lagos and South West has low income per capita. I dare you to bring data on Income per capita do not use IGR because IGR in most cases is an indication of citizens being over taxed. so i dare you to bring data on Income per capita. I appreciate your willingness to keep this country as one. Soyinka and Abacha are not kinsmen and those were entirely different circumstances. These examples you stated are brainless. It's not the lack of opportunity or unfavourable economic indices in the East that Easterners are running from, it's the viciousness , envy and greed when it comes to money that they run from. |

Believeintruth: nobody brought Yoruba into this discussion, stop being too smart for your own good it is hard for you. Good. I see you know the answer to that question and you didn't like it, besides the point still stands. Igbos need to look at themselves in the mirror, no other tribe in this country has fled from their kinsmen like the Igbos, Igbos would rather live amongst people they don't like than live in their own lands. I honestly believe Nigeria is doing Igbos a favour by not letting them secede, Igbos are yet to come to terms with who they are yet, especially their weaknesses. |

LOVEALAIGBO: To start with, where are you from? I ask so we can place your answers in their proper context! And why do you spell Igbo as 'ibo'?
I hope you're not confusing Ndigbo rightfully laying claim to Igbo territories wickedly carved into the 'south-south/Niger-Delta' as us 'claiming other peoples land'!? Besides Mazi Kanu, who took the position that all parts of the defunct Eastern Region/Biafra would be invited to join the newly planned Biafra Republic (a position which even i once supported but have now seen to be unwise and unworkable) can you tell me of any time any Igbo person or group INSISTED that ethnicities in the south-south/Niger-Delta would be FORCED into being part of Biafra....and more importantly, can you tell us how the Igbo would go about FORCING anyone to join them in said new republic? Sorry igbo not Ibo, noted. I'm sure I didn't say igbos are forcing anyone, but I've seen some silly maps of so called biafra territory that included the Niger-Delta. |

LOVEALAIGBO: "It still pains them"! What's with the gloating....and where are YOU from!? Is there any country that loses a part of their territory and is gleeful about it!?
The only reason Port Harcourt and other parts of the Niger-Delta were eventually 'lost' by Biafra to 'ndi liberators' was because of the sabotage agaisnt the new republic by certain ethnic groups within the territory (Ikwerre inclusive) and their collusion with the federal side! There's hardly any country that survives a war with external agressors when they have saboteurs amongst them as part of the indigenous population!
Said Port Harcourt was being positioned by Dr M I Okpara to become the preeminent economic hub and destination for investment not only for the Eastern Region, but Nigeria in general! Look at the the national economic dynamics today as well as the general political-economy of Nigeria and see if you still wanna gloat stupidly! Look at the challenges of environmental degradation and decades long wasting of hydrocarbon assets which have made little or no commensurate impact in the economy and lives of the indigenous ethnicities of the region! Look at all this and tell me who was eventually proven to be on the right side of history! You still feel like gloating?.....That is if you're actually from the Niger-Delta and not another busy-body meddlesome interloper from outside the eastern part of Nigeria! Why don't ibos focus on the development of the east and the environmental degradation going on there. Why are ibos eager to "help" other regions develop when you haven't developed your region yet. Why do you keep insisting that the South-South and Niger Delta are part of the East, When the indigenous people of that region have unequivocally distanced themselves from Biafra. |

SoNature: Life is all about taking risks. People even say that it's risker not to take risks at all. If individuals like Dangote could take risks, lose a lot of money and still become successful, why can't governments through PPP arrangements?
I have talked about government in the South investing massively in agriculture. A serious eastern government can invest in oil palm plantation (it can also be other crops, depending on what grows well in the state) and massive cattle ranches to make a lot of money from it.
If you imagine how much foodstuff sells in the market, you understand how much a government can make from investing in agriculture, creating massive jobs, and improving IGR and GDP. Nobody should be in government and be boasting of not borrowing to invest in ventures that yield money for the state. This is something other states should learn from Lagos and AKS. Your points are valid. A major Lagos has is continuity and a strong sense of loyalty to the the objectives set out by BAT. No other state has that level of consistency and absence of rancour amongst past governors (except maybe Delta state). Investments like the ones you mentioned have a considerably long gestation period and it's likely any gains achieved by the previous administration will be abandoned by the incoming administration and any challenges encountered with the investment be surely be used as a weapon to attack the previous government |
Politics › Re: The Idea Of Free Market Economy Is Illusionary – Fashola by chucky101(m): 1:56pm On Jun 13, 2024 |
SoNature: Fashola is right. Once in a while, the government will intervene in the market and stabilise things. If not, things will go wrong.
The speech I consider most interesting was that of Oluseun Onigbide, I just came across the name today. He encouraged everyone to show interest and get involved in governance.
Prof Soludo did well, but I don't think being in government and not borrowing to invest in ventures that will yield more money for the state is something to celebrate. I think it's a good idea to not borrow money for business as a state government if you're not sure about success. Nigeria is a graveyard for capital most of the time. The chance of success is very slim. |

And these countries are not black skin people.
They have similarity with whites. You won't understand because you are still in basic human education of probably university degree or msc, when you study higher and do more research about humans you will understand our flaws as blacks without ego Don't you sell outs have any self respect? Do you think racism is a joke? At some point in the recent past black South Africans were not allowed access to certain parts of their own country they were equated to dogs.. You need to understand how the world financial system works, It has been structured in a way to favour the westerners, if you try to do things in a way to favour your own strengths you'll get killed or they raise an opponent from within your ranks to sabotage you or gather together to sabotage you . I'm sure you're aware of the recent failed coup in Congo involving Americans and Brits. You must be extremely naive to think whites are saints, they are ready to bomb and destroy full countries so their own countries can continue prospering. Unity of purpose is a major strength for them, Africa needs to be united. But sell outs like you who are ruled by their belly and fancy toys will always sabotage the process. There is no one world, every one is putting their interests first.. sometimes long term interests (to deceive people like you). They give you chocolate then come back and take your entire cocoa farm. Why is the world trading in Dollar? Do you think Americans aren't corrupt? Do you think they are wasteful.. It is because of force and military might. |
Politics › Re: Who Is Out Of Reality In Terms Of Minimum Wage: FG Or Chatgpt ? With Snapshots by chucky101(m): 8:28pm On Jun 11, 2024 |
jumper524: The labor force of federal govt of Nigeria is about 2million, Let's inflate the figure because of corruption and looting to 3million.
We sell 1.5 million barrel of crude oil daily @%90 per barrel which equals to $135million daily.
Let's assume 40% of this funds is shared across states then %20 is spent on salaries while the fg retains the rest 40% for capital and reccurent expenditure.
20% of 135million = $27million. Multiply by 30 days in a month= $810million.
If you divide this figure by 3million workers, that's $270 per individual workers.
Depending on heirachy, I see no reason why the FG can't pay a minim wage of $120 as minimum wage. That's about 140k In naira if you deduct $20 for pension and tax.
If labour are being realistic 140k is a fair deal, that 60k they are all talking about is absolute hogwash and I'm not joking. So also the 250k labour is requesting. It does not work that way. The oil companies have sharing contracts with the FG and they sometimes get as high as 70% of the proceeds leaving FG with 30%, but usually FG gets around 45% on average, this is due to mismanagement, poor negotiations, inefficiency, inability to invest in exploration and many other ills that bedevil that FG when it comes to managing businesses |

This is good news
For those who have no idea on what's going on, very very soon a new insurgency would spring up in and around Congo courtesy Total Energy.... Total should leave us to develop our oil resources at our pace and in a manner where Nigerians and the Niger Delta would be the major beneficiary. In this case the socio-economic and health implications of marrying these girls off trump any moral justification.
