flokii: They prefer to be asking Exxon Mobil, Shell etc. to move their Headquarters to Akwa Ibom, Delta and likes instead of having a super coastal highway that will link major cities in the South in space of 4 - 6hrs. My own joy is that it will decongest Lagos and boost economic activities in other parts of the country. Lagosians will breathe air of relief again. Do you know what would truly decongest Lagos? Allow States to control their resources so Lagos can "breathe air of relief" Where do you think the money for this project is coming from? How much forex does Lagos generate for this country? The country has been leeching off the Niger Delta and they are not being unreasonable with any of their demands. |

abimbola74: The south south leaders are to be blamed . Have the masses ever made anyone accountable for the 13% derivatives they receive ? Even the oil company consider people from the local communities while employing so abeg try explain to us how they’ve been abandoned. Gej had 6years opportunity to transform the place , he couldn’t even transform his village . Let’s sort the problem we have within first before requesting for anything cos it will still end in the hands of those gluttons I think this is a bit harsh. Everyone knows how difficult it is to hold government leaders accountable in this country. I take it you're from the South West, don't the leaders there steal, who has been held accountable? Ondo State also derives 13% from oil and gas income, what is the situation of Ondo State? The only institution that seems to be at the forefront of prosecuting thieving governors is the EFCC a federal controlled body. The government have abandoned the people they are meant to protect from greedy leaders. Also, the 13% is not enough to combat the massive pollution that the oil and gas industry has caused in the Niger Delta. Osinbajo went to oloibiri and launched a 30 billion dollar initiative to clean up that area what has been done about it today? Is it the state government that would generate 30billion dollars from 13% derivation to clean up the place? The exploitation of the resources in the Niger Delta is a Federal government operation, the clean up should be a federal government operation and the development of that region must be overseen and ensured by the federal government. The region has made great sacrifices for Nigeria and I fear that when the oil is no more in demand and the people are still suffering and the land polluted , ungrateful Nigerians, in typically selfish fashion will say : after all they gave them 13% |

SmartPolician: Can someone tell me why this project is more critical than investing that money in the almost-dead power sector? A country of 220 million is generating less than 5k megawatts of power in 2024. Instead of investing massively in power generation across the country, FG would rather splash #1.06 trillion (almost the entire budget of the FCT) on a road project where there's an existing road connecting the same route.
Many companies and businesses close shop because we have epileptic power supply, yet no government declares a national power emergency! Is it that we don't understand priorities in this country or there is a value this project will deliver that I don't see? If you do a little research into the background of the Hi-Tech, the company that was awarded the contract things would be clearer. Construction contracts are some of the easiest contracts to use in enriching yourself as a governor/president. Power projects are too much of a hassle. |

Th RickyJesus: Nairalanders can be very dumb and emotional, this would have being a good topic to discuss with the issues he pointed but this bunch of sentimental folks won't allow us to have an intelligent discussion, someone that went to Guinea for the negotiation due to landmass is who they don't even want to hear from.
Looking forward to read a good rebuttal from someone prominent with a good insight on the negotiations and deal carried out.
His basic argument was that they can do away with the north but that would limit how they can stretch through the sea and I am sure he is not saying that the north would have the other part, it will simply lead to the north not having any stake at the oil.
Either you use their landmass to get more access to sea or don't and case them away and make do with what you have. I believe the furthest offshore oil field is the Egina oil field and it is located about 150km offshore. Delta state has a lateral distance from its southernmost point to its northernmost point of about 180km. Whatever offshore oil riches we are currently enjoying is not as a result of the landmass afforded us by the northern part of the country, although that may change in the future. |

The only way for us to experience rapid growth is when states are in full control of their resources, that's the only way the government and citizens will get serious with their affairs. |

Just today I broke up with my woman because I refused to take the things I usually take easily before now. Nigeria of 1979 is not the Nigeria of today. The country has never been more polarized . The bigotry and prejudice of the APC has been extremely blatant. During the military regime there some moderation in religious and ethnic bias but now non-Muslims are openly called secondary citizens in this country. What is 75 million compared to the damage that has been done to those families? His donation was more political than humanitarian. He should keep his money - or rather give out all the money has has been stealing from the corruption, the man has become a recurrent expenditure on the budget of Lagos State. Now, understand the animosity. This man went across the length and breath of this country telling people that Buhari was the best person to lead this country, we know how we were in 2015 and the situation in 2022 and till now there has been no indication from him that this regime has done terribly. You could say he is quiet as a political strategy but is all the bloodshed of the last 8 years worth his political ambition? For a man that prides himself on choosing the best man for the job, he committed a blunder and we have seen the limits of his character. He has given this country a grievous injury. He himself said it and everyone knows it, that without him Buhari won't be president and for this he is to blame for sorrows in the land. LegendHero: But any Christian that vote PDP Atiku helped the Church?
What I don't understand is that you guys would still never vote Tinubu even if he picks the pope as his vice. Why then are you bitter about all these things and evoking religious sentiment to hide your innate animosity against him.
---Tinubu was the first governor to hand over missionary schools back to the christians even when fellow muslims revolted against him.
---Tinubu donated 75million to catholic injured and victime families in Owo during the unfortunate incident by terrorists.
This is now where the hypocrisy is very evident: --In 1979, Awolowo ran a christian-christian ticket and the Yoruba Muslims & Christians ALL voted him by 90%
--In same 1979, Zik ran a Christian-Christian ticket, the Igbos all voted him by at least 75% of the votes.
If they support that kind of ticket then, what authority do you have to dictate some kind of moral superiority this time?
It is very simple, any Christian that feels what Tinubu did is wrong, they should just vote Obi or Atiku. But all these cries and blackmail will be counterproductive in the end. |

I believe its was The Internet, streaming platforms and YouTube that decentralised music not just in Nigeria but all over the world. I would be difficult for Kennis music to have that dominance if the Internet was available at that time. KiNg0G: When I see people talking about how tiktok, instagram, social media influence the whole nigeria music and made it more opened to the masses (upcoming artist) to thrive on. I quite agreed with them but one thing they always forget is to give accolades to the two men who made it possible before those app came noticed.
We all knew how the nigeria music industry operated in the early 2000s, ( 2 decades ago) it was controlled by different cabals who called themselves record labels, from kennis music, square records, storm records, mo hit and some other few. if you don't belong to any of the aforementioned you can't get a collaboration not to talk of making it big in nigeria. they were many upcoming artist then who were so good but was never heard of because soundcity refuses to play their songs. Them never play kennis stars music finish, na you when dey ojulegba...na them want play? Radio stations were delibartely turning down upcoming musicians record tapes except you got connection to pull some strings.
Then came wizkid and Davido, they changed the entire music scene from the hands of this cabals and the monopoly they practiced. like so many wizkid was signed to eme record when he was still a teenager. he spent few years and left, during that time alot of upcoming artist saw that they could actually thrived, since wizkid did it, davido did it within a short period of time they could also.
That was the end of the Godfatherism in the nigeria music entertainment. so many of them old school musicisns with likes of dbanj, 2face were forced to retirement home! thumbs up to wizkid and davido they made the industry opened to everyone because they practically decentralized it and they forever have my respect for that. |

PresidObi: Ibrahim Alhassan wrote:
Peter Obi is a good man, one of the best presidential materials. But the hard truth is, no South Easterner can win a presidential election in Nigeria without the support of Northern Nigeria. This is not a curse, it is a statistical fact. If the majority of the good Igbos out there and Peter Obi's campaign team wants him to win the election, lets them do the following, it is not going to be a rocket science:
Agreed 1. Translate All Peter Obi's speeches into the north's two major indigenous languages; Hausa and Fulfulde .
2. Buy Radio airtime in major Radio stations in the North where Peter's translated speeches, interviews and his campaign menifestos will be played on a daily or weekly basis.
3. BBC Hausa and VOA Hausa are very vital. Get in touch with them to be granting regular interviews with powerful influential northerners to be appointed as Peter Obi's campaign Directors in the north. Engage other International radio stations such as Radio Deutch Welle (DW) and Radio Beijing with considerable number of Hausa and Fulfulde listenership.
4. Identify and engage popular Northern Nigeria Social Media influencers and bloggers like Northern Hibiscus, Hausa-Fulani, Kano Online, etc.
5. Create physical presence through liason offices in key Northern cities. These offices should be functional and be effectively engaging grassroot political formations from wards, to LGAs and states levels to propagate the message of a new Nigeria through Peter Obi.
6. A powerful Northern Nigerian Vice President should be selected from Kano, Kaduna or Katsina - the super 3 Ks in terms of number of eligible voters.
7. Create a Shadow Cabinet with Shadow Ministers.. A Shadow cabinet doesn't have executive power since they are only executive members of government in waiting. Distribute key Shadow Ministries to the 3 Ks. This will create a deep effect in the political conversation in the North. The Shadow Ministers will operate just like normal Ministers, they should be given official cars and their job will include to criticize the original Ministers in the current administration - offering a better alternative to the unsolved problems of the current cabinet. Shadow cabinets are powerful opposition tools. This alone could place Labour Party as the main opposition party displacing PDP which is almost on its way to the grave.
8. The North is Nigeria's most politically conscious region. We don't vote money, we vote interest. Protect Northern interest in Nigeria while ensuring a balance in the South.
9. Supporters of Peter Obi MUST TRY as much as possible to avoid getting into Social Media wars and confrontations with Northern Nigerians. Stop the subs.... Northerners are your partner in constructing the new Nigeria. I've always maintained that the North is not in enmity with the South. Some evil politicians created a fake division. Peter Obi must expose that division and seek to be a unifier. Supporters of Peter Obi must have at least 10 or more influential Northerners who are partners in the rescue Nigeria project.
10. Avoid religious misunderstandings. Respect each other's religious opinions. Religion should never be part of politics. It was some evil politicians that brings in religion into Nigeria politics for their personal selfish interests.
11. Protect northerners and their businesses in the south and vice versa. Extend friendly hands to make the south, especially SE a safe haven for northerners.
As a Northerner who believed in justice, equity and fairness, and who is well informed about the good intentions of Mr Peter Obi, I'm convinced that when given the opportunity and with the right and selfless people in his government, we will see the birth of the new Nigeria we are all dreaming of. Let's give South East this opportunity, I will volunteer to be part of Peter Obi's team in the north.
Peter Obi is smart, focused and one of the best presidential candidates. But would his campaign team and kinsmen agrees to and implement the above quick wins campaign strategies I outlined? Let's gets this message across many platforms until Peter Obi and his campaign team come across it!!!!. |
