I hope this does not end up taking us some steps back to the stone age. Its good but it sort of looks a bit barbaric. Its soo aggressive! our strengths should be channeled into constructive and productive actions and activities abeg. The formal boxing as a sport demands boxing for points but this one, from my understanding, guys box to DOWN the other fellow. Abi no be soo?
Foreign Affairs › $100,000,000,000,000 Note Released - Is This A Joke? by chudie(op): 10:19am On Jan 17, 2009
Zimbabwe releases 100,000,000,000,000 bank note

Zimbabwe's central bank is releasing a new bank note that's worth 100,000,000,000,000 in local dollars, news organizations report.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe announced via the state-run Herald newspaper that it's introducing a family of notes denominated in trillions.

"The $10 trillion note has the image of the RBZ Building and the Conical Tower at the Great Zimbabwe National Monuments," the paper says. "The $100 trillion note has the image of a buffalo and the Victoria Falls, the $50 trillion the Kariba Dam spilling and an elephant, while a mineworker drilling in an underground shaft and the GMB grain silos appear on the new $20 trillion note."

BBC News says the new 100 trillion bill is worth about $30.

Zimbabwe has the world's highest rate of inflation. Over the summer, AFP says the government reported a 231 million percent inflation rate.

Guys this is really crazy. So they might have to redefine counting for us. Abeg, after trillion, what do we get? is it zillion?
Politics › Minimum Wage Review - Is It Because Of Inflation? by chudie(op): 10:12am On Jan 17, 2009
The NLC had late last year sent its request for the wage to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed. The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Mr. Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN, on Monday confirmed that government was in talks with the NLC over the minimum wage.

However, the source said the N52,000 demand was unrealistic because government was responding to the global financial meltdown by cutting down on several expenditure items in the 2009 budget. The source listed such areas to include the embargo on the purchase of new vehicles and the reduction of foreign and local trips by civil servants.

He said that if government could show this level of commitment, then organised labour should realise the outrageous nature of the demand. The source said, “I have seen the letter by organised labour asking for a minimum pay of N52,000.00. That is not possible. It is even ridiculous for that amount to be demanded, even though we all know that it is meant to be negotiated upon as what they want might be in the periphery of N15,000.00-N20,000.00.

Guys, I really think this is a good development, but the question now is why did they have to wait until it seemed like the Naira is going down before thinking of digging this out again? Well, 52k aint that bad! It would double some people's pay and make Nigerians happier. What do you guys have to say?
