It is no longer news that Xiaomi finally made its way into the Nigerian market and currently Xiaomi Redmi 2 and Xiaomi Mi4 are selling on Jumia.

Picking out the Xiaomi Mi 4 which is selling for N56,000 and looking towards the direction of the latest Tecno Phantom 5 that is selling for N70,000 which of the devices will you prefer?

Yes we are fully away that Xiaomi Mi 4 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon device while Tecno Phantom 5 on the other hand is MTK.

Considering the high end and premium specs that both devices are packed with, we can assure you that aside from their display sizes and processor type, they share many features in common that are within similar range.

Though the Xiaomi Mi 4 variant that is selling for that amount is that with the 16GB ROM, not forgetting that the 64GB variant will cost higher and you know that the Phantom 5 came with fixed 32GB ROM and both do not support expandable microSD slot

na wa for una o... Hw is xiaomi mi 4 betta dan d phantom 5. It beats d phantom 5 in jst its chipset and processor speed, if u ask me 2.0ghz is nt evn bad at all. Phantom 5 has a bigger screen, phantom 5 has cornin gorilla 3 for screen protection and d mi4 doesnt evn av gorilla screen at all, mi4 runs kitkat while phantom 5 runs lollipop, phantom 5 coms wit a metal unibody design and d mi4 has a metal frame wit a plastic bak cover, des no fingerprint sensor on d mi4 while d phantom 5 has. And i dont evn lik d u.i of d mi4. Xiaomi launched d mi4 in august 2014 de av sold out in china, y launch an outdated fone in nigeria? De av new 2015 devices, y didnt de launch does ones? Imagine buyin a 2014 fone 56k... God forbid

I compare mtk processors to Asian made motor engines; low fuel consumption, moderate performance, cheap, etc. whereas Qualcomm snapdragons are European made motor engines high performance, high fuel consumption, expensive, etc .


MTK: Hyundai motors, Jin bei, etc

Snapdragon: Mercedes Benz(Snapdragon 810/820: Mercedes AMG), Volkswagen, etc

Huge developer support for custom roms on the mi4, for custom Rom freaks.

Your phone is clocked at 1.3ghz and your min clock is 519ghz couples with 1gb ram, that phone will surely lag chipests also contribute , see the infinix zero Two clocked at 2.0ghz think infinix weren't thinking right when they clocked it at that? Because they wanted the phone to not lag when MTing. So 2gb ram powered with latest mediatek chipests assisted by 2.0ghz, beastly. If you like you can increase the ram of it using partition to 3gb which means 5gb, that settles it for life.

well now u r talkin, avin a 2gb ram is manageable. In layman terms, a phone lags when it is put to a
task it can not handle.There are multiple threads
being processed by a smartphone even when it is not
being used by you and lying idle.

Point of correction, I am not a dude.



It seems you haven't use high end Chipset and well optimised ROM. Get a phone with Snapdragon 808 and above with MIUI 6 or 7 or Flyme OS come back and drop your testimony.

If you can get a phone with high end Chipset, 1 or 2GB RAM, well optimised ROM and 2500 - 3000mAh you're good to go. Mind you new Chipset are always designed to consume less power than old ones.


A phone with 4GB ram and those Chipset Tecno do use will still lag when you multi task it.

My phone running MIUI 7 Kit kat gives me almost same features with Lollipop and also ones not available in stock Lollipop.

To me, I consider mainly Chipset and ROM before other things.


Too sad, many do not know the function of Chipset and ROM, what they're after is big ram and battery.


Last bullet, what I need a superb performance.

hmmm, u consider chipset and rom. I undastnd ur nid for a high end chipset. But sayin u can use a fone wit 1gb of ram is jst overkill, u obviously dnt multitask. And for all ur love for rom, its easily expandable in most fones some up to 128gb. One more tin a low end chipset is nt necessarily d cause of lags and stutters, d ram is also a major contributing factor. App r beginning to get heavier, d heavier de becom d more d ram space nided to rum dis apps increase. De r some games a 1gb ram and evn a 2gb ram wont run and evn if de run dem, de ll be massive lags.

Y are all dis fones so cheap, imagine a fone with a finger print id and eye print id, 5.5 inch screen, 3gb ram and has a metal frame, costing 36k and u wnt me to buy it. For it to cost as low as 36k it clearly shows materials used to mak it is inferior.

u consider a brand to b a global brand wen it produces and ship to other countries, tecno sells only in african countries. Dats y review websites owned by ppl in europe, asia and d USA cant review tecno devices because de cant get deir hands on it to review. Now i hop u undastnd d meanin of a global brand.

There are loads of site that review phones but none i mean none as ever talked about tecno and infinix besides few uncommon chinese sites

These sites don't even have tecno or infinix listed on their sites let alone review their products. The fact is these brands are not even known outside Nigeria and few places in midland, China. Watch as tecno and infinix will feel the heat when Xiaomi hits Nigeria market.
