Car Talk › Re: Warning Lights On My Toyota Corolla 2008 Dashboard by chukel(m): 7:43am On Mar 08, 2016
Siena:
Late model Toyota and Check Engine Light...

Generally emission-related issues, like bad O2 sensors, air fuel ratio sensors, EGR and MAF will not only trigger a CEL, they will also disable ABS, Traction Control and VSR (if fitted). So ABS and VSC warning lights will be illuminated, in addition to the regular CEL. A fuel injector out of spec in D4-D models will also trigger the same warnings.

I am willing to bet your "mechanic" is either lying to you, or wrongly assumes you have an ABS fault. Replacing your ABS module will NOT resolve your issues. Since you had your car scanned, I would post the results here. You'll be surprised how much less you have to spend to get things straightened out.

In the meantime, ditch that sap of a mechanic of yours, he's an idíot.
siena u have done very well. I love the words of encouragement. I have also learnt from ur post. Does it mean abs module rarely fails? What does one expect with a failed abs.

I started following this thread from the beginning even before u made full payment. U were quite adamant and dogged as if u were being manipulated from somewhere. Don't stop now. What u need is proper direction. I think u r spending money unnecessarily. Park the car and recover first. When u r ready, employ the services of gazzuz or mayor 2013. It may be expensive, but will give u desired result. If u do not wish to tow that line, get a good mechanic in ur area, buy the exact engine and transmission for that corolla and install. Economy is bad. People don't sell cars that much. They manage what they have.

This life. A very little slim fine girl when we were growing up. Sometimes though, her behaviour was weird. The mother is still back there in the US. I think she's had bad luck from the onset cos the step mum didn't treat her any better then. But has always had a loving father.

Well as you say, it will be nice for Nigeria to have a central data base for such issues but they should not you it as an excuse to fleece Nigerian of their hard earned money.

There is this disturbing matter, i learnt that if you have a car that has been registered in Lagos (Autoreg) and you reside in another state, you have been updating your yearly car papers in the state you reside (other than Lagos). I was told that if you happen to go back to Lagos and renew the car papers, you will have to repay those years that you did the renewal in another state before they renew your car papers.

Let me put it another way,
I bought and registered a car in Lagos in 2007.
the car was used and papers renewed yearly in, say, Rivers state, from 2007 to 2010. (3 yrs)
say i relocated to Lagos in 2011 and the car papers renewal are due, but i was told at the Lagos Licensing office that i will have to pay for the three previous years i did the registration outside Lagos before a the renewal is done.

Can some one confirm if this is true?
it is true if that other state doesn't do autoreg.
About linking ur plate number to your car, u don't need to go to the place of initial registration. Check frsc site, there is a place for that linkage.! I did it online in 2012. And since then, my car has been linked. Once u run my plate number, it brings up my car. Can't really recall the site.

It is my personal car, (1) did u read that d car is in Ekiti? most serious buyers are in lagos... 2) I wanted to upgrade when I first posted the car and I have money then to add up for another car but since there is dulling from buyers due to the distance.. See comments, "don't do it, don't do it, flee, run" ... This is just the reason pastors enslave church members in perpetual poverty while they get super rich. Nigerians are easily brainwashed. See how gullible and easily deceived we are. That is why scam will not end. Just the way it happens in auto section.
