I don't think the counterfeit is nothing, if you go to the bank to pay for school fees for example and you fill your teller accordingly andpass both to the cashier. If he/she counts it and finds out one is counterfeit. Won't you replace it?

lets assume you paid into ur own bank account, you just lost 1000 that is the counter feit from your own purse.

But the counterfeit in the above topic came from the buyer IN EXCHANGE FOR 200 worth of good and 800 change given

It is just like the seller and the buyer did trade by battar. Ie they exchanged a 'piece of paper' for a '200 good + -800'

Mathematically

In the initial stage let's assume
Money from the buyer is x=1000
Money from john is y = 1000
Change given to buyer is c=800
Value for item sold is b=200

1. Buyer comes to buy with x= 1000
2. Seller exchanges x for y which still makes it =1000
3. Change is given to buyer c = 800
4.value for the item sold b = 200.

In a normal transaction the buyer gained b =200
But since john discovered that the money from the the buyer was counterfeit x= -1000
Note that since the buyer came with counterfeit
c= -800, b= -200, the exchange automatically becomes borrow. So the shopkeeper borrowed 1000 to dash the buyer(800+200 worth of item) and later John came for his money and is given 1000 and that removes him from the equation.

Now the shopkeeper has lost c=-800, b=-200(which he dashed the buyer ) and the counterfeit he's holding x=-1000. Remember the counterfeit is not (0,zero) but (-1000)
Sum all and you get -2000

not at all.
The counterfeit(#1000) simply represents the #800 he gives as change and the value of good sold(#200)
.
Ok see it this way, assuming that the buyer came with just a counterfeit #200, will you say that the seller lost #400?
.
Simply, the seller lost is his good(worth #200) and the 800 naira he gave out as change ==> the 1000 counterfeit. This is just like a case where the buyer came and stole N200 worth of good and N800 the shopkeeper kept in his drawer and dropped a piece of paper for the shopkeeper
Think again!

The answer is N1000!!!

What we are talking abt is the money the SHOPKEEPER(not john nor the buyer ) lost due to the counterfeit money(not [s]cos of income or loss he do made anytime he sells of buys[/s] ).

He has done his business with the buyer and they owe not eachother.
The buyer has his good,
The shopkeeper has his money(the 1000; ie the 200 he sold his product and the 800 he had before which he gave to the buyer as change for collecting 1000 over a 200 worth of good).


He discovers that the 1000 the buyer gave him is fake (now this is where the problem was).

The exchange he had with John means nothing, it is just like exchanging a white chair with another person for a blue chair.....
he still has his chair, same with John.

He had to destroy the 1000 cos it was fake and that was what he lost!!!.

you are right.
I made a mistake earlier which I have clarified now.
Actually you can still print it as long as you have the scratch card but it is not needed during nysc reg or at the camp.
