Why you should test-drive your partner before marriage
I’m gonna marry her anyway (Marry that girl) Marry her anyway (Marry that girl) Yeah no matter what you say (Marry that girl) And we’ll be a family: Magic! — Rude Lyrics First kiss When I had my first kiss with my girlfriend number one, I could still feel the tingling on my lips hours later. It was like a million exploding stars. I swear I did not eat that night and did not wash my face the next day. I was in love for sure! First slap When I met number 2, I was smitten with her seemingly timeless beauty. I was in love and I thought she felt the same at that time. I tried to kiss her but got a slap for my efforts. It stung but I laughed it off. I was in love, regardless! But I did not marry either of them. Number One was interested in a rich, older, sophisticated man: her college lecturer. She knew I was not the one and I was downhearted for a long time. The wounds were healed by Number Two till we both realised that we could not be happy together, not if we want it forever. You see, no matter how hard we tried, I could not take her to heaven. You know what I mean! First love Real love is mutual, reciprocal and fulfilling. So, when I met my wife, I knew what love was and how it should be. I knew exactly what I wanted and knew not to settle for less. A woman who ticked all the boxes and more was exactly the woman of my dreams. I was not about to settle for less or compromise on any aspects. As they say, life is like a bus-stop. If you board a bus, you can get off, at, or even before the final destination. The journey is what you make of it and the company you keep on the bus sure helps. A partner that makes the journey exciting and exhilarating keeps you on the bus till the very end. Choosing the right partner is therefore vital. Do not settle for less than you deserve: not for fame or for all the money in the world! As Oprah Winfrey says, “Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.” Teenage sex Almost all Americans have sex before marrying, according to premarital sex research that shows such behaviour is the norm in the U.S. and has been for the past 50 years. The new study shows that by age 20, 75 per cent of Americans have had pre-marital sex. That number rises to 95 per cent by age 44. These statistics are, perhaps, significantly different for Nigeria. However, there should be a clear distinction between teenage sex and pre-marital sex. This article is not about teenage sex! Pre-marital sex For those who are of age and ready for a serious relationship with a view to marriage, test- driving your partner and ironing out the kinks may save a time of misery. Many people today feel that you should try out your partner before marriage. ‘Pre-marital sex is normal behaviour and has been for decades,’ says researcher Lawrence Finer, director of domestic research at the Guttmacher Institute. One important reason for marriage is the sex. It has got to be great for both partners. This can keep you on the bus for life! Sexual compatibility and satisfying sex is vital in relationships. You need a partner who makes you smile in anticipation in the afternoon (when life is stressful) and who you can turn to at night for endless pleasure. If it is not happening (if you are not happy at night), it is not going to be long-lasting, as frustration builds up and explosions occur in the divorce courts. Women are from Venus We asked some women to debate the value of pre-marital sex recently. All of them have heard or know someone who is unhappy in their marriage. They are sexually frustrated either because of the size of the man’s member (usually too small!), erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation or just plain poor performance in bed. ‘A man who does not know how to bring out the fireworks is not going to be around for long,’ said one. Men are from Mars We asked some men about the same and their thoughts were completely different. They would want to check that the woman is fertile and able to bear children before marriage. So for many, it is not the sex so much as the ability to procreate. Similarly, a man with poor sperm count and infertility can be difficult for some women to tolerate. Test-drive your partner One way to avoid it is to know your partner intimately, know that you can achieve great sex together and know that you are compatible: able to live together happily ever after. Sharing time with your partner and seeing that you are a perfect fit is desirable before marriage. Okay, this is not even my opinion but it’s open to debate!
Ref: http://www.punchng.com/health/healthwise/why-you-should-test-drive-your-partner-before-marriage/ |
Na serious matter o. Op be patient with him, with time he will improve, but he should take more fruits & stop taking sugar or sugary foods. |
God bless u Op. You are right to a large extent. But it's not every Nigerian girl as u put it. So pls change that "every" to "many". Good write-up though. |
200% true! The Op has said it all. |
kendraloops:She was provoked because I told her I was no longer willing to meet her! She felt she had lost an opportunity to make me her maga/mugu. It's really funny. |
kendraloops:Did you read the story well? Her name & other details that will make her employers to investigate her or people who know her employers to report to her employers, were given in the story. It's not only on Nairaland. Do u read blogs? It's on some blogs already and soon to be published on other blogs. Also soon to be published in vanguard newspapers. Do u really know what it means to call somebody who never provoked u a bastard? Even if all the publications never achieved such purpose of her emloyers noticing the story, at least someone will learn from it. Which employer will still keep a person in their employment when such negative story is published about him/her in d media? Especially when she even claimed to have studied Bus Admin from UI even when UI does not offer such course! So pls don't underestimate the influence of the media. It's necessary to expose such scam pretender girls. Anyway thanks for your comments. |
Pheals:Yep real gold diggers everywhere. |
pickabeau1:Not just a writer, but a Lawyer and an author of over ten (10) books, with five published books. But I like to just remain anonymous here. I don't think I can reveal my identity here. So when some people make some unguarded comments here, I just look at them and laugh! Anyway, life is all about learning everyday! |
pickabeau1:Thanks for ur comments. Yes I ended the call immediately I noticed her rude attitude and I stated this in my write-up. But she was desperate for a relationship which I was no longer interested in. But instead of her to let me be, she felt she had lost out and started sending very offensive and insultive text messages to me. I was pissed off and that was why I had to write the story and post it here to teach her a lesson and for people to learn from it. There is nobody that will not be pissed off by such behavior. As for my experiences with scammer girls, I will try to open a thread and share some of them if I have the time, but I'm already writing some of them in one of my books which will be out later. We need to expose and stop these scammer girls. |
kumpharm:That girl should be investgated by her employers for such false claims. It's now very clear that UI doesn't offer that course. She is fraudulent. |
wristwatch:You said it all. |
DrBeaut01:Yes it actually occured & I stated it exactly as it happened. I never said anything to upset her. It was evident she was hot tempered and lacked manners. No doubt about that. |
MimeeTee:Nice. That means she is not just a scammer but a blatant liar. And it's possible she must have even presented forged results to House of Tara in Festac to get the job. That girl( Lola) needs to be investigated and dealt with accordingly by her emloyers. She doesn't derserve to work there. I hope her emlpoyers or anyone who knows them is reading this to pass the message across to them. Let's make Nigeria better. |
moreeni:We need to keep exposing all those scammers & runz girls. No doubt with this, her employers will know she is fraudulent, especially with the fact that her UI Bus Admin claims are suspicious. |
BoboYekini:Yes o. Thanks. |
FrancisTony:Yep I actually suspected she lied on this. She even said she had completed her NYSC! Can u imagine! Some girls are just wicked and deceptive. That's one of the reasons why we have many failed marriages. |
boss1310:Serial "dater"? No, that's not true. You got it wrong there. Yes it's better if one can find within one's immediate environment but if unable to do so, you never can tell where it can happen. Life is a gamble remember. Sometimes life is a trial and error. |
benkings:Abi o! Dem go say men dey scarce & na their character no good. Imagine this kain nonsense my brother. E get as e be for naija babes o. |
Sophyrocks:Well I've already moved on since. I'm not really bothered about it but I just wanted someone to learn something. Life is about learning everyday. I was also propelled to share it judging from my previous experiences from some of these pretenders. |
Obadar:Thank u my brother! U got it. She's not worth my time at all & that was why I ended it. She's just a time waster. I just brought the story for people to learn something from it. |
lillaowow:You are damn wrong. |
zaragal:Abi o. That's the nature of some people. They must insult others to make a comment. |
We must expose all these fake girls so that guys can have better relationships. We must stop this runz girls who scam us of our hard earned money. Enough is enough. |
MimeeTee:Are u sure? U mean no Bus Admin in UI? And that's what she claimed to have studied in UI & graduated in 2011. I also doubted her claims too. Pls UI graduates or students in the house, kindly confirm if this course is studied in the sch. |
Seaen:Well just for us to learn from it. I feel someone will have something to learn from the story. |
armadeo:No, that's not true. |
Pls Mods kindly move this to front page, people need to learn from it. Thanks. |
Pls read and share your views on any of the issues I raised. |
Nneka123:Just try 2read it. |
Enegod:Thanks. |
