Okay! Caretaker Local Champion! |
After a review of his emergence as the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike has described himself as “a local champion.” The reason, Wike said is because he has spent all his life in Port Harcourt where he attended his primary, secondary schools and university in the state. The only time he said he spent outside Port Harcourt was “when I went to Lagos for my Law School, that is a professional one.” Wike who spoke Saturday in Port Harcourt during an interactive forum with reporters also described himself as the engine room of former Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s election into office. The governor explained that he was teaching those in Amaechi’s camp the way to play the game of politics, because “there is no polling booth in the state that I do not know or do not know anybody.” For those who have been criticizing his emergence as governor, he said, “the fact is that I was prepared for that election. “I was a Council Chairman. There is nowhere in this state that I do not know. There is no ward I do not know one person. “As I sit down here, I can mention one, one person from each ward. I know the politicians in this state. I know who has strength and who does not have strength.” The governor also said that during the course of the campaigns, “I never emaciated one day, the truth of the matter is that if you do the election 100 times in this state, I will win.” On the sacked lecturers of Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori, Wike said that they were people who have not started work with the school at all. http://thenationonlineng.net/new/i-m-a-local-champion-says-wike/

Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State and his predecessor, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, on Saturday paid a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The duo arrived at Obasanjo’s residence at about 2:48 pm in company with a former prelate of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Mbang, and some other state officials. The team immediately proceeded into a closed-door meeting which ended at about 4.05 pm. Udom, who addressed journalists after the meeting, said he was in Abeokuta to pay homage and to thank Obasanjo. According to him, he consulted with Obasanjo shortly before the general elections and that his advice paid off. “I have come to show gratitude and respect for someone whom I regard as a father and whose advice I regard as invaluable and which also contributed to my victory at the polls,” he said. The governor acknowledged that his predecessor had laid a solid foundation upon which he would build and move the state to greater heights. He said the Peoples Democratic Party remained the greatest party in Africa and would provide a credible and formidable opposition to the ruling All Progressive Congress in order to move the nation forward. Akpabio, who also addressed newsmen, declared support for a reduction in the cost of governance in Nigeria. http://www.punchng.com/news/akpabio-udom-others-in-closed-door-meeting-with-obasanjo/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

vedaxcool:No! How will they move this kind of thread to the frontpage! When it doesn't contain Tinubu, APC and all the "enemies" of PDP? |
Omenka! They are the usual suspects! Learn to ignore them. They believe, their present hate campaign may bring back jonathan! Nairaland is now a dustbin for riff raffs! |
IsraeliAIRFORCE:So, Ngwakwe jonathan knew that the plants would work by July and you and Fani Kayode didn't use it for campaigns? Stop deceiving your gullible followers! |
FreeGlobe:Open a thread for that! This one is for Baba's silent achievement ![]() |
Jorussia:Why are you wasting your time on an ethnic bigot, Ngwakwe? Why do you think he was summarily dismissed from Nairaland's moderatorship? |
Lushcream:I can now understand you are a PDP sympathizer who can believe and say anything just to spite Tinubu. So Fashola, Fayemi, Buhari are no longer Tinubu boys?? Buhari has distanced himself from NASS Then why are you on this thread?Tinubu installed Lai Mohammed, Oyegun etc and they installed Buhari and Now Buhari trusts the G7 that Voted for Atiku more than Tinubu( see logic) Please is Kwankwanso also a member of the G7? Why didn't they bring their Senators to Vote Saraki? Why did Saraki depend on the PDP to win? Your comment is laced with contradictions to say the least! |
You Guy said Tinubu Had been Defeated, decimated and cut to Sizes... Then you guys should allow enjoy his retirement now..Haba! Tinubu this Tinubu That! |
Lushcream:So from your post, it is now safe to assume that APC=Tinubu? Because PDP stated emphatically at their retreat in PH that they were going to vote enblock against anybody APC presented in order to revenge 2011 lost of Speakership, which they did. Don't you know that, had APC supported Dogara, PDP would have voted Gbajabiamila? The number of PDP members in the 8th assembly is so significant that they can swing victory either side. So stop hating on Tinubu. One way or the other, APC will come out stronger from this crisis! Saraki will be the ultimate looser here! |
Lushcream:You act as if you knew politics, but your hatred for Tinubu, betrays you. To start with, can you mention the Powerful Northern Politicians in the APC that are behind Saraki Apart from ATiku and and about 2 Senators? Gbajabiamila, polled 174 Votes While his opponent polled 181, meaning he was defeated by just Eight votes. So subtract 143 votes from mainly southern PDP, Dogara will be left with about 38 Votes from the rebelled APC members. Now from the calculations above can you honestly say the Northerners are against Tinubu? |
So wetin make we do??
|
doctokwus:That Ikuru is the most foolish Human being on earth! He has been doing everything to rubbish a government he played a major role just spite Amaechi! Tufiakwa!! |
Mogidi:Mumugidi! |

Read the press statement from River state government below... Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that President Muhammadu Buhari will fully support his fight against the massive corruption that characterised the administration of the immediate past administration of Mr Chibuike Amaechi. Speaking after receiving the final report of the Transition Committee of his administration on Friday, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike said that his administration is committed to recovering all funds diverted into private pockets by officials of the outgone administration. He said : " I am confident that President Muhammadu Buhari will support my administration in the quest to tackle the massive corruption that characterised the Amaechi administration. "We are aware that the immediate past administration and her officials will resort to blackmail and propaganda for the purpose of diverting attention from their corruption practices. We shall remain focused on the task of getting back Rivers State resources and assets ". The governor commended the Transition Committee for a job well done, saying that the committee's interim report helped his administration to take off. Submitting the final report of the Transition Committee, former Deputy Governor, Tele Ikuru described the Amaechi’s administration as the most corrupt in the state's history. Ikuru said that the former governor expended N812million to furnish his personal residence at the expense of the state, while N4.96b was spent on Justice Karibi White hospital with no structure on ground.
