OPEN LETTER TO NIGERIA’S CBN GOVERNOR. It is no more news that our beloved country is experiencing immense inflation. Prices of commodities have skyrocketed over the period of the Buhari’s administration. Standard of living of Nigerians have reduced drastically since there is no commensurate increase in income. The big question is: what is the cause of this inflation and what is an urgent measure to curb it? The obvious cause is the massive reduction in the value of the naira which currently trades at about 500 naira to a dollar in the parallel market and about 302 naira to a dollar officially. Nigeria is an import dependent country, most commodities are imported. The high exchange rate implies very high cost of imported goods. The goods we manage to produce such as food products are also sold at a very high price because of the high cost of transportation since the petroleum product for transportation is also imported. In previous regimes, the CBN adopted the fixed foreign exchange policy in which the price of the naira is fixed at about 198 to a dollar. The foreign reserves is used to maintain the exchange rate at the fixed value, implying a decline in the reserves. However, the current CBN administration introduced the floating exchange rate regime in which the forces of demand and supply determines the value of the naira. With this policy, the reserves does not deplete, in fact there are news of an increasing reserve lately. But the exchange rate of the naira to the dollar experienced continual increase, leading to its present rate. The big question is, which is a priority: A big foreign reserve or a well valued currency? This can be likened to a man wallowing in hunger but has millions has savings in his bank account. He may not even live long enough to enjoy his savings. My position: The CBN should immediately reverse to the fixed foreign exchange policy and watch inflation rate drop. The recent stability in oil production and increase in oil price will cushion the effect of depleting reserves. This should be done with a strong drive for diversification of the economy. That Nigerian economy is in Recession is no more news. A school of taught blames it on the recklessness of past administration. Another blames it on the drop in oil price and decrease in oil output due to vandalism. Yet another blames it on the poor economic strategy of the present administration. It is only fair to say that all the opinions are correct. Both the present and past administration as well as the people of Nigeria are to blame. We spend much energy debating who is to blame: APC blames PDP, PDP blames APC. Does the blame game brings us out of recession? This issue is not one to be politisized.Rather, Every stakeholder should come together to profer a solution irrespective of political affiliations. Nigeria shall be great! |
For the disloyal staff, you need to exercise your powers as the boss. By the time one or two receive suspension without pay, others will sit up and accord you the needed respect. Age doesn't count in the work place |
THE UN-TAPPED BENEFITS OF SELFLESS SERVICE. It is very common for unemployed youths to blame there unemployed status on lack of connection. They claim that only the privileged ones, with connection in high places get the best of jobs. While this claim is not totally out of place. It is very important to properly describe what the so called connection is. The word connection means to join, relate, link, fasten together, or communicate. The big question now is: How do we connect with prominent people? To connect with something, first you need to be within the view of that thing. It is unfortunate that most youth do not expose themselves to the right connection. They run away from activities and responsibility, meanwhile this are opportunities for exposure. It is very important for youths to join: voluntary associations, social groups, religious groups, and even make out time for seminars, sporting events, competition and religious events. These are avenues that provide the necessary exposure for the right connection. Exposure to connection is important but then actual connection is even more important. After meeting you in an event, why should I make reference to you in times of opportunity? The answer is not far-fetched. First, a show of a sense of responsibility and honesty. People need to embrace responsibility and see it as an opportunity to make a good impression through honest and committed performance. It is often said that: The reward of a good job is more work. When you perform excellently in a voluntary work, I will definitely remember you for a job that has a reward. Psychologically, there is this sense of indebtedness for someone that does you a favor. If I am in the position to offer opportunity, I will definitely remember someone that has impacted me over others that I met but never had an impact. We need to harness this psychological concept in gaining the right connection. People need to see the need of others as an opportunity for connection. We need to be genuinely and selflessly concerned about the need of others, there lies the: ‘Untapped benefit of selfless service’. Ponder on the following: 1. Do I consider what I stand to benefit in a relationship beyond what I have to offer? 2. Am I genuinely interested in people’s affairs? 3. Can I commit faithfully to a work that has no pay attached? 4. Am I sad at people’s progress? 5. Do I offer helping hand even when am not asked? We really need to tap into the benefits of selfless service. |
West Germany (German: Westdeutschland) is the common English name for the Federal Republic of Germany. Source : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Germany We need to come to terms with the fact that elections are over. The supporters of GEJ needs to swallow their pride and see something good about the new administration. All this biased critcism on every move of the president should stop. What the country needs now is our support. |
It depends on how valuable he is in his present company. If he is very valuable, the MD may even want to negotiate that he remains with a pay rise (Talking from experience). The bottom line is that we should be so relevant such that we become indispensable. |
Most Jonathan suppoters uses Buhari's alleged plan to Islamize Nigeria has the focus of there campaign. They have forgotten that, we run a Democratic government and not a military government. Even if Buhari has plans islamize Nigeria, It takes the consent of the legislatures to pass such bill into law. Am sure our legislatures will not do that. Has a military head of state, Buhari had the power to Islamaize Nigeria, but he did not. Now, If he becomes a Democratically elected leader, he does not have the power to Islamize Nigeria. Please, let us put religious and tribal sentiments aside and focus on real issues. |
BUHARI/Osinbajo; POLITICS OF TRACK RECORDS Those with background in human resources will agree with me that: In a recruitment process, candidates with outstanding performance during there years of experience in areas of responsibility similar to the one that necessitated the recruitment process are giving consideration over others. Let's assume that we Nigerians are the human resource team seeking a candidate that can heal our nation of corruption, impunity, economic instability, insurgency among others. Let's also assume that Buhari/Osibaju is a candidate for this position. Our consideration will be as follows: On corruption : Buhari gave zero tolerance to corruption via his war against indiscipline inititiative as a military head of state. On impunity: Osibanjo is revered for is unbiased approach to criminal litigations during his tenure as Lagos State Attorney general and commissioner for Justice. On economic instability: Buhari's military government is praised for its gain in reducing inflation by refusing to devalue the nation's currency, the Nigerian Naira, curbing imports of needless goods, curtailing oil theft and using counter trade policy to barter seized illegally bunkered crude oil for needful goods like machineries, enabling it to export above its OPEC quota. On war against insurgency. Buhari was one of the military officers who gallantly fought in the Nigerian civil war to keep the country together. Osinbajo served as a staff member of the United Nations and Member of the United Nation’s Secretary General’s Committee of Experts on Conduct and Discipline of UN Peacekeeping personnel around the globe.
