The Spanish retired professional footballer and Legend, Xavi Hernandez, born 25th January 1980, Age 39, who currently plies his trade as a central midfielder in Qatari sport club Al Sadd in the Qatar stars league after leaving Barcelona in 2015 on a three-year contract, has planned to retire permanently from football at the end of the season.



The former Barcelona star man Xavi, known for his stability and perfect coordination as a central midfielder, won eight La Liga titles and four champions league for Barcelona. Played a total of 428 matches for the Spanish side, Scored 52 goals and created 66 assists in his 17-year stay at Barcelona.



The 2010 world cup winner, Xavi internationally in a 14-year period, was capped 133 times for the Spanish national team scoring 13 goals. He won the UEFA Euro 2008 trophy with Spain, where he was named the player of the tournament. He retired from Spanish national team on 5th August 2014, immediately after Spain elimination in the group stage at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He won a total number of 31 trophies for Barcelona and Spain.


However, Xavi Hernandez, feels that it is the right time for him to hang his boots after an unforgettable race that lasted for 21 years which has taken me all over the world. He also feels that he would begin a coaching career as he is excited to see what the future holds for him.




According to him, "What i have achieved in the last two decades has been a great privilege."
