FC Barcelona Femeni have suffered a major blow after two key players Asisat Oshoala, and Alexia Putellas suffers serious injury blow on the eve of key clashes in the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), and the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 (WEURO2022) respectively.

Nigerian international Asisat Oshoala returned once again to football action after spending over two months out due to a knee injury.

Barcelona Femení put five past Wolfsburg in the first-leg of their Women's Champions League semifinal game in front of a record breaking 91,648 crowd at the Camp Nou.���


That figure surpassed the 91,553 fans who turned out for the Catalan club’s quarter-final win over rivals Real Madrid at the same stadium last month.

Women's Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas scored twice to put Barca in complete control of the tie.

Nigeria-England international Ademola Oladipupo Ola-Adebomi has today signed his first professional contract with Crystal Palace Football Club.



The Palace 18-year-old centre forward joined the Eagle's academy 10-years ago (2012) at age 8, and has progressed through the youth ranks of the club.

He was among the Under 15's that helped Palace win the national Super Floodlit Cup final for the first time in the club's history.



Ola-Adebomi who made his Under-18s breakthrough in 2020/21, is currently in his best form enjoying a sensational individual season for Rob Quinn’s side, scoring 14 goals in 22 appearances.

Manchester United have banned SIX fans season ticket holders after they racially abused Tottenham Hotspur's forward Heung-Min Son on social media earlier this month, the Premier League club said on Friday.



Spurs had issued a statement following their 3-1 Premier League defeat to United on April 11, condemning the “abhorrent racial abuse” targeted to the South Korean after the fixture.


Son was involved in a controversial moment during the game, as VAR ruled out an Edinson Cavani goal on 33 minute after Scott McTominay was adjudged to have fouled the Spurs forward in the build-up to the disallowed goal.


Regretfully, suspensions have been issued, subject to appeal, to three season ticket holders, two official members and one individual on the season ticket waiting list," United said in a statement.

"This disciplinary action demonstrates the club's commitment to the fight against discrimination on many fronts."

Ed Woodward has resigned from his role as Manchester United executive vice chairman because of the European Super League situation.

Woodward’s association with the Red Devils began in 2005 when he acted as an adviser to help the Glazers buy the club.

Woodward was planning to step down at the end of the season but has decided to go now amid huge outrage over the club’s involvement in the proposed Super League.

Florentino Peréz has insisted that the formation of the European Super League, would save the game of football at this critical moment of it's dying stage.



The Chairman of the ESL Perez, has held a press conference for the first time today concerning the formation of the European Super league on Sunday.


Real Madrid alongside La Liga rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, as well as Premier League clubs Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Italian clubs AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus all signed to be part of the ESL, and the contract is binding, there is no going back.

The move of the ESL has plunged the game of football into chaos and caused uncertainty in the future of the game, but Perez brushed off the criticism and give reasons for the importance of Super League.


The Spaniard Peréz speaking during the extensive press conference on Spanish TV show said;


"Whenever there is a change, there are always people who oppose it. We are doing this to save football at this critical moment.



"Football must evolve like everything in life. Football has to adapt to the times we live in now. Football is losing interest, TV rights are decreasing.

"Football is going through a very tough situation, it is ruined due to the pandemic, and the Super League will save the clubs financially.

"It would be better for everyone, if we have more money because we big clubs will make more money and also distribute it to others, we would be able to sign players from smaller clubs and help them too.

"If UEFA and FIFA was to wait until 2024 to reform the UCL, then congratulations to them, we will not wait.

"We came to the conclusion that having the Super League instead of the Champions League, we could help alleviate the lost income from the pandemic.”

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to be offered a new contract worth £10m-a-year even if he fails to win a trophy for the club this season.

Manchester City's forward Sergio Aguero is reportedly opened to joining another Premier League side this summer, with Chelsea emerging top contenders of signing the Argentine star.


Agüero who will be turning 33-year-old this June, would be out of contract with the Cityzens at the end of the season, and he apparently wants to remain in the Premier League, with or without Man City.

Xavi Hernandez has confirmed that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

Xavi who is currently the manager of Al Sadd SC football club in Qatar revealved the information early on Saturday via the club's official social media handles.

The former Barcelona and Spain legend Xavi, said he got a positive result during a routine check ahead of the start of the League and is asymptomatic.

He is set to go on self-isolation while the club's reserve coach would prepare the team for their first match on Saturday following the resumption of the Qatar Stars League (QSL).
