From popular music, alternative music and Afrobeats, 2018 will go down as one of the most eventful years in the Nigerian music industry.
We at TINA Magazine present you a list of the best Nigerian artiste of year 2018 with the music popularity, succesful shows, streams and downloads this year. Please no this list is based on their success locally.
Top 10 Best Artistes In Nigeria 2018
10. Tekno https://i2.wp.com/tinamagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/IMG_1093-Edit-2.jpeg?resize=200%2C300&ssl=1 Tekno is Arguably the no.3 artiste in Nigeria right now just after Wizkid and Davido following their fan base. He would have been on top of this list if had another hit like Jogodo this year. The pop star is one of the most steamed artists in Nigeria and Africa this year. He dropped several songs but we can conclude only the single 'Jogodo' was a massive hit.
The veteran artist who has been relatively quiet in the last couple of years resurfaced on Wizkid's 'Fake Love' sometime in May and the ripple effect of his contribution in making the record an anthem was one that led to over 20 collaborations and copycat trends.
7. Mr Eazi https://i1.wp.com/tinamagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/RnNktkqTURBXy8xYTM4MWRhZmFmMWM3ODhkNWYyMzBkMmQzYWIzM2FjMy5qcGVnkZUCzQHgAMLD.jpg?resize=300%2C199&ssl=1 Is there a more tactful, artistically disciplined, and technically accomplished Nigerian artist on the global stage this year than Mr Eazi? ‘Deliberate’ was the word most used to define Mr Eazi this year and part of his magnificence is purely based on statistics and careful planning. Mr Eazi built a strong team around himself and followed the data in making his moves. Every step of his was calculated, he identified his audience and catered to them passionately. This helped Eazi to forge a base in the UK and saw him performing on major stages globally. He rounded up the year with the impressive release of his sophomore project ‘’Lagos To London’’ which is gathering some explosive streaming numbers and also set up a platform ‘’Empawa’’ to help artists get their music out, He also topped the Ghanaian music scene too.
Kizz Daniel laced his vocals on hit singles like No do, 4dayz, DJ Spinall’s ‘Baba’, DJ Neptune’s ‘Wait’, Major Lazer's 'Loyal', scored a major hit in ‘One Ticket’ and closed the year with the release of his much anticipated sophomore album, ‘’No Bad Songz’’.
In May this year, Wizkid sold out the 20,000 O2 Arena in one of his most iconic feats, while also performing at the Reading Festival, UK. His hits this year include, ‘Soco’, ‘Fake Love’, ‘Fever’ and ‘Bad Energy’ with Skepta.
When videos started surfacing of Burna Boy performing ‘Ye’ during his ‘Life On The Outside’ tour of the United States, the online community went hype with the way the fans reacted to the song. And little by little, ‘Ye’ continued to grow into a hashtag and then a movement. Afterwards, it has been killer features and more hits in ‘Gbona’ and ‘On The Low’ from an artist who has somehow become focused, re-energized and altogether fascinating. 2018 has without doubt been the best year in the career of the Don Gorgon.
His single, ‘Science Student’ became the go-to record to start a party. It was the song with which Genevieve Nnaji displayed her ‘shaku shaku’ skills and one that birthed an endless catalogue of viral videos as fans jumped on the wave.
The rapper/pop star rode on this momentum for a while and just when it was about fizzling out, he returned with ‘Motigbana’ and another dance craze was birthed.
Other singles like ‘Kana’, ‘Criteria’, ‘Bugle’, ‘Poverty Die’ and the ‘’YBNL Family Mafia’’ album all add up to Olamide again becoming one of the most influential names this year.
Davido sold out concerts in cities Nigerians never knew existed like Suriname and Mayotte, rocked the stage at the Wireless Festival and Jay-Z's ‘Made in America’ concert, had a successful tour of the United States.
He also appeared on the Breakfast Club, gave us hits like Flora 'My Flawa, 'Mind' ‘Assurance’, ‘Nwa Baby’, ‘Aza’ and ‘Wonder Woman', 'Ada'. Davido turned his label into a force through their collaborative hits like ‘Mind’ and ‘Aje’ and also won the award for ‘Best African Act’ at the 2018 BET, becoming the first artist in the category to be presented with his plaque on stage.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Usman Belel, made this known to journalists in Gusau after the restoration of peace and normalcy in the affected area, Punch Metro reports.
Police arrest 23 Zamfara protesters for possession of firearms
He said the command was particularly disturbed to discover that some of the protesting youths carried guns and fired shots to scare people after which they burnt several vehicles at the local government secretariat.
He said:
“Although arrests were still going on in the local government headquarters, Tsafe and its environs, those arrested would help in investigations in order to fish out the perpetrators and their sponsors.”

The Nigeria News Agency reports that residents of Tsafe and environs, particularly Kucheri Village, woke up on Monday morning to face hundreds of youths who blocked the highway with a bonfire and interrupted travellers from Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States from passing to other parts of the country as well as those heading to the three states.
The rampaging youths were said to have taken over a planned peaceful demonstration by Internally Displaced Persons camped in the area who felt they had overstayed and wanted to return to their villages.
The protesters had burned several vehicles and offices in the local government secretariat including the chairman’s office and offices allocated to some international non-governmental organisations operating in the area.
The mayhem was finally quelled by a combined team of security personnel who dispersed the protesters and restored calm to the area.
The Commissioner of Police said a detachment of the command’s officers and men would ”remain in the area until we are fully satisfied that there is peace.”
SweetBuns: I know I'm female but I play FIFA a lot with my bf and read his magazines so I know a lot about football. My thoughts are Zidane won't be able to be successful in the EPL than that of his LA Liga brace. EPL is a hard league. And that's where his real challenge will be. I don't think he is ready. LA liga tactics don't work in EPL
Wow.. You play fifa?? God.. I'm crushing so hard over here.. Too bad you already got a boyfriend..I've always wanted a girl who plays videos games.. But yet to find one
The insurgents struck Gudumbali in Guzamala town on Friday at about 5:30pm, riding on military vehicles mounted with anti-aircraft guns. According to a source, the insurgents shot sporadically, firing RPGs towards the military base.
“Many soldiers lost their lives; they were many,” the source said.
“The Boko Haram terrorists came in large numbers, and although the troops initially stood their ground, they later they fled into bushes. We slept in the bush between Friday and Saturday morning. We got to Gubio yesterday. Many are still there, because they only came for soldiers, not civilians, except those of us working with the soldiers.”
A soldier, who preferred not to be named, gave an insight into the invasion, stating that the attackers were trained terrorists.
“Although we engaged them, they overpowered us,” he said. “They were well-trained terrorists, not those we are used to fighting. In fact, they handled anti-aircraft guns and RPGs better. We didn’t have options, because we were running out of ammunition and there was no reinforcement. Some soldiers were killed and dozens fled to Damasak.”
The insurgents continued their attacks in Kukawa town and also invaded military and Police posts, sacking the security operatives.
An official said Kukawa town came under the siege of insurgents, and pleaded for the support of the Air Force, as many civilians are currently trapped in Kukawa town.
Although many of the civilians were not hurt, there was no presence of soldiers in Kukawa town as of Sunday afternoon. This escape has been nothing but a tragedy and sad news for Nigerians when it comes to the poor security.
Muhammad Kormi, a resident of Kukawa who arrived Maiduguri on Sunday, said the insurgents carted away many trucks of food items and burnt down the military base in Kukawa.
“As I am speaking to you, military personnel have withdrawn completely from Kukawa,” Kormi told SaharaReporters.
“We don’t have any protection for our people in Kukawa. Many residents, out of fear, are currently in Monguno town. They didn’t attack civilians, but we can’t trust them. I think they solely focused more on the military,”
