This case can go on and on to infinitum... both sides of d debate r right in some ways n wrong in others..my final conclusion: You can be a programmer without going to any Nigerian university, u can be d next zuckerberg if you know your way around the required languages.. but your big picture will be missing 1 piece, which in NIGERIA is a vital piece to a have an actual job...A CERTIFICATE... make no mistake about it,u can be a freelance developer, u still be fulfilled,who knows u can make one superb site or app n some huge company can see it and buy for top buck..maybe even employ you..Cuz some companies don't care if u attended a school or not..all they want to know is dat u know ur way around a computer n can can solve problems with it..or program software 4 any platform without hasle...its not about weda u went to Harvard or sum tin to do cs,or wat u know in cs...BUT HOW WELL YOU KNOW IT AND CAN APPLY IT TO GIVEN PROBLEMS.. SO...BY MY JUDGMENT, IF U WANT UR RESUME TO BE COMPLETE GET A CS CERTIFICATE, IF YOU WANT TO JUST BE GOOD AT IT, TRAIN URSELF... skyfall: Your uncle is misleading you. Computer science is much more than programming and even at that, those Pascal & Fortran languages you're being taught is just laying a foundation, introducing you to what programming is all about & where it started from. Ultimately, only a small % of Comp Sc graduates take up programming and definitely have to go through further training to master it.I agree wit u 100% its more Dan just programming... its a whole lot more....and d journey aint easy...but u guys should be encouraging people or at least correct dem if dey r on d wrong lane...not to start insulting d dude n saying he is tkin trash. ..dats y I will always say dat foreign forums have better maturity Dan naija...xpecially here in Nairaland... if na sum where like xda or stack over flow,dem no go dey insult u,dey will just try to correct ur impression n give help to put u on d right track.
