Nigeria is not ready for this at this point, we're not yet Matured up to that level, it will lead to serious Anarchy
exactly...

non-indigenes will mass-travel to one state they are not indigenes and vote their own ethnicity in that state then sideline and impoverish the real indigenes..

this is a tactic from the people that deceived the Hausas...

I believe the law will pass because the self acclaimed iragbiji man is actually a pulani from gaaaambiaa...

It is bigots like you that will not make it work. As a Delta person why should I bat an eyelid if an Efik man born here, was raised here probably has a family here is granted an indigene certificate by the state.
stop saying talking to parachoko like that and read this post below by naija1stnigar....

which in summary naija1stnigar says he got a benefit that was meant to go to an Ondo indigene because he knew the politician beyond politics and also note naija1stnigar claims his dad is from Anambra while his mom is from Edo so in reality naija1stnigar is meant to get benefit from Anambra or at worst Edo state..

why "you should bat an eyelid" is because your unborn children or your siblings and relatives children will not get the benefits they deserve because people like naija1stnigar will steal it from them because they know the politician..

naija1stnigar:
The court's judgement is constitutionally right but the question is has Nigeria advanced to that level? If going by this judgement, my mother is from Edo and my Dad from Anambra but I was born and raised in Akure Ondo State, that automatically makes me an Akure man, but most times when I try to make any sensible comment social media, name checkers will try to counter me simply because of my name, I could remember there was a benefit that was to come to me through a politician some years back, many fought me on the basis of tribe, if not that I had known that politician beyond politics, I would have lost that benefit. I just hope we'll get there someday but for now, the country is so tensed that we suspect everyone of ourselves on the basis of tribe. We are still not matured for this!

The very reason Nigeria is in the economic mess its in right now,you ate away your surplus without investing in your society......if that same jakande you always love to refer to had insisted on building a good tax administration system, lagos would have been far more wealthy and more sustainable than it is right now......sanwo olu wouldn't still be bothered about building roads or schools.
Till date nigeria's total tax revenue is still at an abysmal 13% of gdp below the WB and IMF recommended 15% minimum, one ofvthe lowest in africa and you expect world class social amenities.

Compare the population now to what was in jakande era sanwo olu needs to cater for over 20m people with same space and limited resources and how much revenue the country was making considering the value of the naira at the time.....majority lagosians over 80% pay no taxes to govt.
anonimi is right..

Nigerians already pay =

property taxes ( especially in Lagos ),
property insurance fees ( in lagos ),
Drivers license fee,
Car insurance tax,
phone credits or airtime tax,
Passport renewal fee
VAT,
ATM taxes e.g ATM fees,
electricity taxes,
phone data taxes,
fuel taxes since subsidy was removed,
bank taxes for using banking codes,
bank monthly charges,
bank ATM card maintainance taxes or fees,
import duties taxes that phone importers and other foreign goods imposed on Nigerians..
e.t.c...

In Nigeria, everyone already pays multiple tax
CelebritiesRe: BNXN Relocates To The US, Says "Lagos, More Expensive Than US" by codemaniacs: 3:30pm On Jun 10
nairalanda1:
Unfortunately it is.

Nigeria's tax to gdp ratio is way below the global standard, and way below the African standard.

Ghana is a country some people say better pass NIgeria. Ghana has a tax to gdp of 25%. Nigeria's own never pass 15%. And Ghana has the same issues with corruption and accountability as we do. (Spend some time on Ghana reddit. You go think say na Nigeria site you be)>

Also, when most of the population both rich and poor is not paying tax, they won't care about how tax money is spent, and that means they won;t pay attention and hold their government officials accountable.

Most Nigerians want to be like Saudi, with the flawed idea that oil money from 1.3 million bpd can give us the good life, when it cant. (Saudi also has a massive corruption problem...again because most saudis don't pay tax, and most don't care).

If you want your government to work, tax , and doing the hard work of holding them to account will work. Otherwise, nothing will change. The same thing you are complaining about, is what they said in the 1980's and even back in the 1960's.
nairalanda1:
Yes, because most of you do not want to pay the kind of taxes they pay in the USA, which their various local governments and city government use to provide anemites.

A city like Lagos has 25 million, yet the budget is 3.1 billion dollars. In the same USA, a city like LA that has 12.1 million people..half the population as Lagos has a budget of 5-6 billion for its police force alone

Yes, we say that government would loot the money, and you are not wrong, but the reason why government loots the money is that most of the money we use for development in NIgeria comes from oil money..not from taxpayers. Meanwhile, USA cities rely on taxpayer money. And yes US politicans can be as corrupt as Nigerian politicans...yet because most of the government money comes from the people's pockets there, they have no choice but to run the country well, or else.

You will now come and tell me that

1. I am backing government: Government that cannot raise up to 30 billion or more dollars for a whole Lagos to be like the develoiped country, that cannot raise funds from the illegal mines in this country, that cannot fight corruption, na that one I go support?

2. Nigeria is not USA. Yes, but there is no where a city of 25 million can provide even third rate anemites for all on just 3 billion dollars.

And that oil money that forms about 80% of revenue for nigeria is not enough, we end up borrowing to make ends meet, or wait for oil prices to rise, hence our debt,

Meanwhile at the end since you cannot pay government to provide your anemities, you go pay for am.

And we don;'t want to vote leaders that would make us more money.

Personally, I am voting tinubu out, so that we can see what obi go do, and if Obi cannot make us more money, make him go. And yes, part of the solutuon is everyone pays tax, or we just accept we are a third world nation and live like one.
you have come with your un-educated rants again you government keyboard warrior..

Nigeria does not need billions of dollars in taxes for it to develop because the minimum wage in Nigeria is different and much lower than in western countries...

these means that what will cost $100million to build in U:s:A can cost about $14million or less to build in Nigeria...

Filthy rich because of how much oil? The oil is less than three percent of GDP even now and less than twenty times of something like kolanuts.
that's a lie and you've said this before in another post to me in May...

90% of Nigeria's revenue is from crude oil and gas that is produced in the eastern region don't let anyone deceive you.

the text below was taken from another nl user:

"The West disrupted iran because Mossadegh, the democratic prime minister decided to take control of Iranian oil to benefit Iranians.

The anger from that 1950s act of the West fuelled the 1979 Revolution. When you kill democracy for selfish reasons, you create a monster. The West did."

if the west can do that to iran because of oil then what do you think the conditions they gave Nigeria are in order for Nigeria to get some revenue from oil..

I watched a video while scrolling on ins:sta and the person said Nigeria is the third largest oil producer in the world, so imagine what the western companies are siphoning from Nigeria in order for us to have peace and they are still the ones indirectly sponsoring zerrorism in Nigeria in order to gain access to other natural resources.

Just like Buhari that came from Niger republic and ruled Nigeria for 8 years. We always elect questionable characters as President.

Master plan of Lagos Nigeria, Some parts of Rivers State, Port Harcourt and many places in Cross River State infrastructure was the plans of the colonial masters and not Nigeria people master plans.

You are just rating Yoruba people like one special entities or different breeds of humans in Nigeria. No be the same Yoruba Leaders get Osun state, Ogun State,Oyo state, Ekiti state,Kwara States huh Are they leaders of Lagos State different ni ?

Only reason there's poverty in the SE in 2026 is because in 1966 certain SE soldiers and leaders who had zero knowledge of economics could not forecast the oil boom that awaited the SE region and due to their superiority complex and mindset to always dominate non-SE people they ignorantly chose to destroy the regionalism that would have made every SE person filthy rich and stinky rich and start a civil war..

Biafla was a war used by wyte people to impoverish the SE region and turn SE people eyes away from the oil.

Since you claimed Lagos Nigeria has an infrastructure masterplan created by the Yoruba Leaders, why can't they Yoruba Leaders in Ogun state bordering Lagos State to also stretch that infrastructure masterplan to their own state as well ?

Do you know Bola Tinubu's state of origin, i mean where he came from ? I heard he is from Iragbiji in Osun state Nigeria, only this supposed to teach you something about Lagos.
Why are they Yorubas running away from their various state of origin and flooding Lagos State, claiming Omo'onile! all over Lagos. Many have even denied and abandoned their original state taking refuge in Lagos.
Just like i will run away from my beautiful Imo state to Anambra because non indigenes have developed Anambra state, so i now come and be claiming Anambra first Son because i can also speak Igbo language and also have Igbo name same with Anambra people do8)

For your information, the Yorubas didn't create any shiiit infrastructural masterplan in Lagos Nigeria, rather it was the British colonial masters that did all that for our former capital Lagos Nigeria. Don't come and educate me on what i know already since 35 years ago! I won't take that from you.

Do you know when the Igbos started migrating to Lagos Nigeria, dem don born you by that time... I am not sure if your dad don reach adult time sef.

So you are saying nonsense.

England did not build anything in Nigeria.

Nigerians developed Lagos, and not the Yorubas! If the Yorubas claimed the developed Lagos, they can also straight that hand to their closest neighboring states like Ogun but they didn't do that. Are they Yorubas living in Lagos different from the Yorubas living in Ogun ?

And for your information SE people were part of the tribes that developed Lagos,Nigeria. So they don't envy what they are part of.
Igbos didn't develop any part of Lagos.. Lagos has a development and infrastructure masterplan it follows created by Yoruba leaders who use the revenue Lagos earns to build it's infrastructure..

There are oil producing states in Nigeria who don't spend the revenue they earn on infrastructure and are less developed than Lagos..

will you blame the Yorubas for the under-development and bad infrastructure of oil producing states and other states in Nigeriahuh

That means Lagos can make so much money and still have bad infrastructure if the Yoruba leaders in Lagos steal Lagos blindly..

Is it Igbos that are signing road construction contracts in Lagos?

Is it Igbos that are signing rail construction contracts in Lagos?

Is it Igbos that are drafting the development plan of LGAs in Lagos?

Is it Igbos that foreign investors will set up meetings with in Lagos?

So now,
Onne port
Calabar port
Warri port now belongs to the Igbos of south east. Remember what you said now, i know you people, tomorrow now you will change mouth smiley. The day south east Nigeria the Igbos will claim Cross River State Calabar, River's State Port Harcourt and Delta State, Warri as part of their land that day i know what you guys will say oo.

Remember today, you are handing over this States to the south east people!

I still maintains my stand..... How i wished Lagos Nigeria was located in the south east of Nigeria, because of the Atlantic Ocean that is bordering with Lagos. By now the industrious Igbos of the south east would of turned Lagos Nigeria to UAE.

It's sad the South East people of Nigeria didn't had that opportunity of having a Sea Port close to the Atlantic Ocean as their own. huh
the indigenes of Rivers state are 98% igbos..

Igbos billionaires and igbo state governments can also partner, negotiate and build ports in Akwa-ibom or Cross River or Bayelsa or Delta state then use railways to link to those new ports.

the SE has crude oil, one of the largest gas deposits in Africa, one of the largest coal deposits in Africa

while Yoruba people don't have the level of crude oil the SE have, the SW does not have gas deposits, does not have coal deposits.

when it comes to natural resources wealth the SE is extremely richer and wealthier than the SW and the rest of Nigeria and they should not be allowed to participate in politics outside the SE.

SW is significantly poorer than the SE...

so it is fuulish of SE people to be envying Lagos state and SW people.

That's exactly why I wonder why Lagos booming could not help even Ogun State to develop faster....Ibadan did not develop because of Lagos State, it is because of the University of Ibadan , one of the 3 prestigious Universities we have then and also the teaching hospital, is never because it is near Lagos State even though it is a 2hrs journey interval....

What does it tell ushuh?.....it tells us that the booming spirit and energy drive is not coming from the indigenes of those living near Lagos State so the development is not reaching other near States talk more of Osun, Ekiti, even Ondo ,...

Assuming Yorubas are the pointers of the energy drive in Lagos State, every SW state is supposed to have benefited immensely from Lagos State...
because ogun state politicians and other Yoruba states politicians are sell-outs and do not have the political will to build the infrastructure of ogun state and other SW states.....

Lagos state also have sell-out politicians and are pressured by private companies to build roads and sometimes those private companies do the road themselves.

Lagos state is also the smallest state in Nigeria which makes it easier to see the development of Lagos state per KM than other SW states that are filled with bushes and forests due to their KM in size.

It is a no man's land not because of the land area but in terms of Developmental strategies, all tribes in Nigeria joined hands to from Lagos State....

But by land property, it is unfortunate to be in Yoruba soil , Unfortunate because if that part of Nigeria where to be with South South or South East , Lagos State won't be this backwards ...
lightwind:
Your head get oil bro!

Exactly!!!

How i wished Lagos was part of south east or south south that is close to Atlantic Ocean like that, borders Atlantic Ocean... Just from there you get to other parts of the world through maritime Ocean way.

He for don developed more than this, my Igbo brothers could of used the opportunities to expand trade etc to other SE States.
eastern Nigeria have 4 seaports which is more than anywhere in Nigeria..

There's a seaport in Rivers state called "port harcourt".
There are also:
Calabar port
Onne port
Warri port..

so that access to the Atlantic ocean excuse is ignorance..

lagos has always been the economic capital of Yoruba people even before the demonic bri:tish people came to Nigeria.

England did not build primary schools, secondary schools, universities, health centers, hospitals, stadiums, technical institutes, vocation centers, maternity hospitals, pediatric hospitals, sports centers, housing estates, roads e.t.c. all over Nigeria between 1830 and 1960 and after..

they took the billions they made from Nigeria and other places they colonized and used it to build England they did not use it to build Nigeria and the other places they colonized. So foreigners and non-Yorubas did not add or bring anything to lagos.

lagos is the commercial center of the Yorubas not of Nigeria and it is as a result of Yorubas concentrating their wealth there.

It has nothing to do with colonial influence, government influence, Foreigners.

During the colonial government only a part of lagos island was the capital and only white people and Nigerian colonial government workers were allowed there.

The rest if lagos was filled with dirt roads, forests, and underdevelopment. No University in lagos, no teaching hospitals, no housing estates built by the British, no pipe borne water.

Yorubas are reaping the benefits of Yoruba wealth concentration.

Yorubas alone made lagos what it is today..

I think until the security issues in the country (particularly kidnapping issues) are completely resolved, all Fulani people should not be allowed in any state that is not theirs, especially if the Fulani elders and leaders are refusing to speak against the evil being committed by their people.
Perhaps everyone should actually just go back to their region for now until we can live together peacefully again (or we go our separate ways permanently if peaceful coexistence is not feasible).
Just an opinion huh
they are not indigenous to any state in Nigeria...

they move to Nigeria as illegal immigrants and stay where there are muslims then they change their names to that of the indigenes and add or maintain their islamic names and they disguise as indigenes and infiltrate the politics of the state they are in and start changing the laws of that state...

if they can not infiltrate the politics of that state then they resort to *errorism..

Tribes should handle their issues themselves as it shows whether the elitist class of that tribe are sellouts or not.

If northern Nigerian tribes or states had condemned terrorism and destroyed terrorism then terrorists from there will not be attacking the SW today.
