alcuin: So much ignorance on this thread.
Those regions are about to be part of the Russian Federation and Russia is preparing to defend her territory. Its as simple as that.
Ukraine does not have an army now. Its all NATO.
This is a war between Russia and 30 countries under NATO. Yes, is it? How many F-35 have you spotted in ukraine? How many abrams tanks? How many aircraft carriers in the black sea? |

Really dumb move by putin, just like the entire war. Not going to help him. The west can just escalate military aid as required. |

olugabbie: Well, the West still recognise Russia has a Super power and I believe they are not fools. Source. Please show me the official "list of superpowers" from the "the west". No, almost no western analyst or political scientists regards russia as a superpower. You just make stuff up. olugabbie: China can not challenge US militarily in a conventional war. But Russia can. If it were the Russians that told Pelosi not to visit Taiwan. She won't dare. If u think otherwise. Well China has nuclear weapon too. Of course China can not challenge the US yet, because nobody can. But china is getting stronger year by year. China already has a much bigger military budget than Russia, despite spending less as % of GDP. Superpower status is not just about military. It's also about economic and cultural influence. Germanies economy alone is more than twice the size of Russias. The EUs economy is over 16x that of russia. The idea that russia can compete with the US is somewhere between funny and stupid, just shows that you have no clue what you are talking about. How dumb do you have to be to believe the 'pelosi wouldn't visit taiwan if the russia told them', while the US is literally sanctioning russia and sending billions worth of military equipment to ukraine. olugabbie: UK & France individual can't invade Ukraine. They don't have the ground troops to do it. Air force alone can not win war. Yea, they probably actually can. They just can't hold/occupy it. olugabbie: Western analysts mentioned it several times that 200k can't take Ukraine before the war. Ukraine is not Iraq. With the exception of Iran, Israel & Saudi Arabia, all other countries in the middle can be conquered by any super power within months. Russia military perform brilliantly well in Syria too. No, analysts said russia can't OCCUPY Ukraine. Almost all analysts believed Ukraine would be taken pretty fast. You understand the difference between longterm occupation and taking a country? The difficult part is the occupation, Russia didn't even get to that point. All russia did in syria is bomb a few hospitals... olugabbie: You said Russia committed all its elite troop. Show me the evidence.
Check all the videos coming out of Ukraine. You rarely see Russian soldiers on the battlefield. You only see the Chenchens & once in a while you Russian paratroopers. This is how you do research? You watch random videos? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Russia Set For All Out War With Ukraine Now by coke75: 1:50am On Sep 21, 2022 |
Russia will not start a nuclear war, they won't commit suicide. If russia uses nukes in Ukraine, theyll lose all support - even from china. Putin will probably get removed in a coup if he tries. |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Gov. by coke75: 10:47pm On Sep 20, 2022 |
olugabbie: Russia was a superpower before the war and will still be a superpower during and after the war. Wrong. The only clear superpower after the fall of the Soviet Union is the US. Second in line is China. olugabbie: Apart from the US no other super power has the capacity to invade Ukraine the way Russia did. The UK & France won't dare do what Russia is doing now, whether or not they share border with Ukraine. They don't have the capacity. NATO can do it but not individual countries under NATO. UK & France are not imperialistic dictatorships, but they have way more capacities than russia. olugabbie: The US used about 160k troops to capture Baghdad. Wrong. They used 30k. olugabbie: Putin had no intention of capturing Kiev. You can't do that with 30k troops anyway. All he wanted to do is to send troops to Donbas with the hope that his troops will be accepted the way they were accepted in Crimea in 2014 and to use his 30k troops to harass and put pressure on Zelensky to surrender. Of course he wanted to capture Kyiv. olugabbie: The Russians became clueless after the failed attempt to scare Zelensky into surrendering. Zelenskyy couldn't even surrender if he wanted to. Ukrainians would never accept it. olugabbie: Now Putin is stuck. He does not want to be fully committed to the war. He knows that the West is looking for the opportunity to degrade Russian military drastically. So he is trying to avoid committing Russian troops and equipments extensively to the war. This is why he relied so much on volunteers, Chenchens, Wagner, LPR, DPR, Syrians e.t.c. This is absolute and verifiably nonsense. He's commited literally all elite troops russia has. olugabbie: The Russian troops that attacked Kiev are still in Belarus and the ones that attacked Kharkov have been moved to the border btw Ukraine and Russia. Although, some Russian soldiers are still involved. Wrong. Most of those troops were deployed around Izium. olugabbie: About 30% of the total invasion force are been used in the war currently. Keep dreaming. |

Ibime: Russia invaded Ukraine with 200,000 troops.
I don't know where the number 30,000 is coming from. Maybe that's the number of troops killed.
Note that for every troop killed, another two are injured and taken out of action. That's why they have manpower issues. I was not talking about Ukraine, someone claimed the US deployed 160k troops in the battle of baghdad, which is obviously nonsense. |

Uprightness100: Wall Street crashed today. The US is officially in a recession. Amazing performance Biden.
S&P has lost 4%, following a rally during the last 5 days. Over the last 5 days it's still up 0.5%. Stuff like that happens all the time, that's not a crash. The president doesn't have as much control over the economy as you might think, especially when it comes to inflation. That's mostly the Fed, which acts independently of the president. |
