If u are running lower version of android (2.3.x) dnt use framaroot, it cnt root it. U can try towelroot and see if it help. For all htc v2.3.x use htc quick root on pc(u must have .net framework on ur pc for quick root to work), if ur htc is 4.0 and later try super one click root or srs root (internet needed) or try towelroot.

No matter wht u do android will still consume its data.

Maybe u guys can uninstall the system gps app. Bt backup ur rom b4 u try it.

Go and turn it off if u dnt like it.
