Earlier, in trying to defend ur position, u asked "He is close to the presidency but they couldn't get him a diplomatic passport?" Now u are saying "the closeness of which we cannot determine". this is obviously double speak and speaking from both sides of your mouth, characteristic of all your comments. if u knew his closeness to the presidency qualified him to get a diplomatic passport, how do u now say "the closeness of which we cannot determine"?

meanwhile, u have systematically avoided answering this: "Does being "close to the presidency" automatically entitle a person to diplomatic passport?"

once again, with ur comments as a "commentor", u have only succeeded in entangling urself with humongous contradictions. according to you: "The presidency can easily assign him a post through which a diplomatic passport can be issued."

D story is talking about d past and u talking in future tense. how can what d presidency hasnt done change or alter what happened in London? If d presidency uses its prerogative and appoints Nasiru to qualify as d holder of a diplomatic passport as u suggest, how does that change d event that took place at Heathrow airport?

Ur statement about appointment clearly shows how u keep digging deeper and messing up your position. based on this "The presidency can easily assign him a post through which a diplomatic passport can he issued", then what type of passport was he holding in London since u had alluded to the fact that d story of d arrest is false? Was he arrested at Heathrow and what was his offence?

Lastly, i dont need to "refute their belief" neither do i need to refute yours. with your comments, u have only succeeded in shooting yourself in the foot several times and giving credence to the beliefs u are asking me to refute
[/s]

Rubbish.

Truly, money paid from abroad using apps like WorldRemit, pay the end user in local currency when indeed they should be remitting in the currency sent or at least give the option of major currencies.

Steel for instance or palm oil

Import duty of steel for instance is between 0% to 35%.

A 0% tax rate on all types of steel will increase massively the importation of steel. Since demand for steel in an indirect demand, it will be used to produce other goods leading to an increase in manufacturing production
Basic steel ingredients is 5%.

Finished steel products is 30%.

Doing otherwise would mean no growth in manufacturing because finished steel products (even basic buckets) would flood the market from China.

What I said isn't theory. If tomorrow, government decides to slash company tax to 13%, the stock market will jump all

If the government decides
to reduce import duties on lots of raw materials, manufacturing activities will pick up.

If tomorrow, government decides to reduce the cost of registering a business name to N2,000 and insist it must be collected in a day, the number of business registrations will shoot up

If tomorrow, government decides to allow Nigerian hospitals to advertise there services in Newspapers and beyond, that may lead to the start of medical tourism in Nigeria.

That is why businessmen wait for the budget to know what new policies there will be.

The market is best at picking winners. What matters is for government to create the necessary environment where these winners can thrive. h
What raw materials?

Give examples.

The growth of the economy isn't dependent on you and me. It is fuelled by government policies and business environment.

The same business that fails here may thrive in another clime.

If there are good pro-business laws on ground, it will fuel growth as it will encourage lots of investment
This is all theory.

Let me give an example as outlandish as it may seem.

If all Nigerians were able to produce movies or music for export at wizkid's level, what government policy can stop it?

If you decided to make Adire shorts which happen to catch on globally, please tell me what would prevent it from selling?

Buhari and his economic team lack good economic policy direction , we are using 20% of our total budget to service loan borrowed by this same administration's, at this point what we need is sale some of government assets to fund budget not borrowing, cut the cost of governance, embark on more capital investment that will in turn boost productivity, what do Buhari government do borrow for consumption and turn back to blame the previous government for corruption.
Bold is not true.

If you wish to tow that path please cite examples of borrowing for consumption.

This budget is frightening and should not be passed. The expected growth rate of only 1.9% is further distressing when considering the size.

This budget is dead on arrival. It is delusional at best
The growth of the economy is dependent on you and me.

Nigerians can continue to act as if government has a magic wand, or say to themselves, I must produce something for my local area or export.

lexy2014:
U can't yes or no because u are saying things that u can't defend.

At first u said this:

"I insist if he was using a fake passport, he would be detained.

Since there's no evidence of this it means it is a non-story."

In this comment, u are saying d story about Nasiru's arrest is fake.

But in ur comment above u said:

"that Nasiru, who holds no public office, was apprehended in UK".

Although u contradicted urself, in a way, u ended up answering my first question: "Was Nasiru Danu arrested at Heathrow Airport?"

So we can agree that Nasiru was arrested in d UK. D question now is, y was he arrested?

Second, in trying to exonerate d presidency, u said:
"this silly cass is predicated is that Nasiru, who holds no public office, was apprehended in UK but somehow, it should be the responsibility or lack thereof of the presidency."

But earlier, in an attempt to rubbish d story, u asked:

"He is close to the presidency but they couldn't get him a diplomatic passport?"

So u expected someone who holds no public office to b in possession of a diplomatic passport because he is "close to the presidency" but u don't think its right 4d presidency to be held responsible for what d guy does with d diplomatic passport.

Hence my last question:

"Does being "close to the presidency" automatically entitle a person to diplomatic passport?"
That question would still be answered with the question does being 'close' ( to the presidency, the closeness of which we cannot determine) make the presidency responsible for your personal action?

Being close to the presidency is the whole basis for the entire 'scandal' according to PDP.

The simple question is why such an individual, so close to the presidency, such that he ferries money on their behalf, as suggested by some on this thread (you've not bothered to refute their belief), isn't close enough to be given a diplomatic passport?

Note:

The presidency can easily assign him a post through which a diplomatic passport can he issued.

Was Nasiru Danu arrested at Heathrow Airport?

Does being "close to the presidency" automatically entitle a person to diplomatic passport?

A simple yes or no will suffice
I would not answer yes or no when the single premise upon which this silly cass is predicated is that Nasiru, who holds no public office, was apprehended in UK but somehow, it should be the responsibility or lack thereof of the presidency.

If you don't see the flaw in your question, then it simply means you have a jaundiced view.
