If you read the writeup you'll see the plane suffered EMERGENCY LANDING due to issue with the plane. It was flying enroute Senegal from Ghana when this happened unfortunately.

with the senseless killings going on in the country is a welcome development. I’m also glad common sense prevailed at the end of the day without Nigeria conceding much to the US. Finally, it’s great that the threat of a unilateral military intervention is off the table. To be honest, that was scary. What we need is cooperation and not invasion and it’s good to see that the two countries are now working towards that.
