And as for you coogar , where do you get your stereotypes , who says men find it hard to forgive their wives after she has confessed to such a deed.
it's one thing for the man to tell everyone he has forgiven her, it's another thing to put it into practice. such deeds can never be forgotten. it stays with the man for the rest of his life. that she has done it before torments the man and every time he's away from home, the thoughts come rushing back again. as a result, the trust dies and when there's no trust - there's no relationship which eventually leads to the death of that marriage.

Go check all your cases and you'll probably see why the men didn't forgive the cheating spouse was because it has happened again and again. A woman who continually cheats on her man doesn't love him and vice versa.
you have just made my point. the bare fact that the deed has a tendency to happen again and again is the reason forgiveness is hard in this kind of crisis. how do you stop the thoughts? most men want to forget it but it's not just possible. the moment i have 1% doubt my partner cannot be trusted, the relationship is as good as dead.

Anybody wanting to support the keep shut path should have his/her head examined.
what people don't know does not kill them. a married woman cheats - why and how she did it is no longer important, what is important is the backlash. will she ever be trusted again? how would the society brand her? those are the issues. every time she gets home late, tongues will wag she must be coming from her lover. how many women can live with such stigma for the rest of their lives?

The only reasons I wouldn't forgive a confessing partner are
1. She sleeps with a family member/relative ( either hers or mine ).
2. She sleeps with a close friend of mine and
3. She has confessed to such before - once bitten twice shy.

Asides these reasons all other reasons should be forgiven even if it is with a colleague at work , provided she comes willingly to confess and not that she confessed cos you caught her. I believe if a woman confesses to her partner willingly she has made up her to stop such an act and would stop sleeping with the man even if she sees the said person on a daily basis ( like a colleague )
until she finds another man. you just don't kill this habit out of confession. it's more deeply-rooted.

Cesc and Nasri are in two different situations IMO.

One has a long deal and has the team built around him - there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to sell him if we don't want to. Even if he makes up his mind that he wants to leave, we MUST demand the highest transfer fee possible to make it work. If he refuses, then stick him on the bench till he comes back to his senses.
lemme play the devil's advocate here. . . .

arsenal have no grounds for complaint.

barcelona must think they're joking to want astronomical fees for what was their ill-gotten gain. imagine someone poaching one of your best young talents and then wanting maybe fifty times what they got him for (did arsenal even have to pay a mill?) to give him back - it wouldn't go down well.

in the grand scheme of things, arsenal committed the first wrong in this case seven years ago and now they should reap what they sow.

The only signing worth raising our heads about is the De Gea one.
The others still leave me scratching dandruff out of my hair.
If Fergie has been reduced to "impulse" signings,it tells a lot about why he gets ridiculed sometimes over signings.None further than the Bebe signing.
I remember the same "impulse" signing of one Djemba Djemba. We all know how he ended.Hernandez will be the likely exception of these impulses.
every manager has bought dud players at one point or the other in their career. every signing is a gamble - no one knows if a particular player x or y will fit into the team or fit into the style the team plays. djemba-djemba and bebe in 25 years of management is not an appalling record. think about the average ones he managed and later became superstars.

We're looking for Sneijder/Modric.People who can help overpower the likes of Barca.
Phil Jones is excess to requirements as far as I know.CBs ain't our problem.A right and left back would have been good too.
Ashley Young simply isn't it if we're going to the next level (i.e. to be taken seriously as Champions League contenders).
we can spend £1 billion on players and we still won't overpower barcelona. the current team of fc barcelona is a one-off. it might not happen again in centuries to come. what we are seeing aren't only the assembly of talented players but players who have been playing together for more than a decade in the same academy. what others are doing is buying different spare parts from different corners of the globe - it will come close but it still wouldn't match the team chemistry at barcelona.

To add to your made up story , I have friends and family members who have forgiven their partners after she has confessed , it shows remorsefulness and a repentant heart. I would never accept any explanation of remorse/regret if it comes after I catch her. If a woman/man is truly repentant , has a conscience and loves the partner they would tell their evil deeds to their partners.
confessed to what?confessed to having an affair or confessed to having sex as a married woman? there's a difference between those two and naija men despise extra-marital sex. the society still frowns at it. besides, it ruins the trust between a man and his wife. how can any man ever forgive and forget his wife after she confesses to sleeping around? what will be the man's state of mind whenever he travels knowing the woman will be alone for a while?

Just like Chelsea spent 75 million on two playesrs mid-season and won nothing.
Nasri?Are we serious?
wrong players? phil jones was an impulse purchase(other clubs were closing in, fergie had to show his hand) just like he did with hernandez.
de gea(we need a top goalkeeper, edwin has retired.
ashley young(we need a versatile midfielder. young can play as a left winger or a central winger).

i have huge confidence in our purchases. we will do well next season without a doubt.
by the way, what kind of purchases were you expecting to be so disappointed with the £55 million spent?

A lady posted a story here about how she cld save her marriage after both of them cheated on each other. The hubby confessed, but she of course was confused as to whether she should do the same. Then as usual yeah we replied in an effort to help her.
So as I leave office today theres a story on radio, topic being 'sexless marriages' and the cause.
A lady calls in with her story. She cheated on her husband and later confessed to him.He got pissed off at first then things took an ugly turn, they had to involve the elders/parents for reconciliation. As soon as they were back together, the hubby changed. He just couldnt trust her anymore and resolved to punish her. First he demanded that he sleeps with wife's sister or he leaves her. The 'silly' wife gave in and yeah he had sex with her sis. As if that wasn't enough, hes denied her sex ever since. Then now hes seeing another woman and wants to marry her.Hes stopped providing in the house and tells the wife that it is his punishment for cheating. The wife says he loves him soo much she cant leave him.The hubby is torturing her as punishment.
So my conclusion after hearing the story was 'just keep your mouth shut'. Thats crazy. What would you do if you were the wife/hubby??
i dunno why women complicate issues. if a married woman cheats, she should keep quiet and only own up when the husband finds out with a concrete evidence. no nigerian man will condone cheating if a woman confesses unforced. yes, honesty is a good thing but the lack of trust that will follow your honesty is more damaging. married women should think about the consequences when they are about cheating. if they decide to do it regardless, they should die with the secret(unless caught pants down). cool

Lest we forget, he was literally sacked for constantly haranguing Cristiano Ronaldo and Ferdinand, a laughable event given the fact that Roy Keane is a minion compared to Ronaldo in terms of status and ability.
he was sacked for criticizing some of his teammates on mutv. darren fletcher received the heaviest criticism on that interview before it was yanked off the air and keane was sacked as a result. that was in 2005.

It was a case of a player having delusions of grandeur and acting way above his status. In hindsight, both Roy Keane and Ruud Van Nistelrooy should feel embarrassed for ever having clashed qwith Ronaldo.
yet more rubbish. keane is a legend. he won the champions league when ronaldo was still 14 yrs of age. keane was fergie on the pitch and his constant haranguing team-mates got the best out of the team. keane is a leader of men - he protected his team-mates from their rivals as much as he criticized their performance when they came up short. keane's criticism could have been the reason ronaldo became more

At the time,I was one of the ones wondering what Hernandez would bring.Hardly ever heard of him till i checked youtube and saw him in South Africa. It's the uncertainty of the signings that worries me.These kinds of signings are the type that unsettle a team if it doesn't work but if it pans out right, the manager is hailed a genius.Besides Smalling and Hernandez were to some extent gambles.Even their price tags (Hernandez in particular) could be explained away if he didn't gel.Jones and Ashley Young have been Premier League players and it's going to be a lot more difficult for them knowing they will be under the radar a whole lot more, given their price tags and their new environment.Young for one has never really convinced me about his ability even if he seems talented. He had a good season for Villa but I feel he's largely over-rated with little or no end-productWes has been crap since he returned from injury in 2008.He is unrecognizable from the fellow who created the assist for Ronaldo in Moscow with a delicious cross and locked down opposing left side wingers/midfielders with hard,crunching,bone-breaking tackles.Wes has always been too small to be a CB,even though he has the ability to play the position, hence his adaptation to RB.
O'Shea according to you has a thought process that is 15 seconds after events occured. How can he now become a piece in your puzzle, especially since Fergie hardly ever used him 09/10 in that position. The only viable option of the three was Evans.Right now we have 4 fit and ready CBs.We do'n't need one more unless one is leaving.Evans on his day is streets ahead of Jones. He's played at Manchester United for 3 seasons. That is enough for me.I've seen the game 3 times:United were off-colour when the first goal went in and their play was nervous in general,so I can attribute his display on the day to United basically taking advantage of silly goalkeeping from Paul Robinson, but he wasn't in the side that lost 7-1 at old trafford,no?
Jones might be good, but when you think he was with Chris Samba and Blackburn almost went down last season with him in the heart of their defence,I shudder to think about his real quality.Maybe he can learn a lot,but as of now I don't see why we should splash that amount on a player with not much rep,to me.
Truth is,Arsene Wenger flirts with the kitman at Wigan as well, but never makes any decent propositions. He was never going to sign for a club where their lingua franca is basically french.Maybe Ashley young might be used to solve the left-wing,but He also tends to drift in centrally ratehr than give the necessary width required. As an AM,Young is too careless with the ball to be deployed in that role.
I will relax. . .if August 31 passes,I'll join tkb's crusade to get hin out!!! grin

I can understand why some are getting impatient. In 09 they said we would strengthen in d middle for gradual phasing out of Giggs and Scholes and we didn't. But then it made sense then to not rush, we assumed that Hargo would recover, that Gibson would step up, Ando would get consisent and Carrick would be back to his best. Then 10 summer came and Scholes had expressed his desire to retire that summer, Hargo still hadn't recovered, Ando hadn't improved, Gibson didn't look like d solution. Everyone was sure we would get in at least 1 midfield signing, yet d window closed and we got no one with claims of "no value in d market", despite blowing 7 mill on unknown Bebe.

Considering our history I can understand d restiveness for midfield signings.
crikey me. . . .see literature surrounded by griping and impatience. united fans - y'all need to relax.

ok, i will put this matter to bed now. . . .

are you guys actually aware the transfer window formally opens on the 1st of july every year? of course, domestic transfers between clubs in the same football association can take place as soon as a club completes it's last competitive fixture of the season.

now, since fergie is not dreaming of signing any central midfielders from the premier league, he cannot do anything until the 1st of july(when the transfer window) formally opens. we were able to sign phil jones/ashley young because it's a domestic transfer between two clubs in the same football association.

@Coogar,
Don't Agree with the above.
I'm pretty certain the Hernandez/Smalling signatures were different.United's attack 2009/10 was predictable with the prior departure of Ronaldo.Everything went through Rooney and when he got crocked, the goals dried up and our title chase fizzled.Hernandez was to give United a different dimension upfront that we were lacking at the time.
but how many fans knew hernandez would settle down quickly and score 20 goals in his first season? no one knew him. it's the quality i am talking about here. . . .not just adding bodies and yet chicharito proved his doubters wrong.

Smalling came as backup for the uncertainty that Rio/Vidic wouldn't play for as many games as we needed them to.they played only about 8 games or so in the league campaign 2009/10.
we had evans, oshea and wes brown who can also play as centre-backs. like i said earlier, smalling was not even supposed to have the big impact he had last season. many questioned his quality as well. besides, o'shea and wes brown might leave this summer according to the news in manchester. in that light, i don't think getting another centre-back is out of this world. . . . . .

----------------de gea---------------------

rafael - smalling - evans/jones - fabio

the back five is sorted for the next 10 years at least.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the signing of Ashley Young. We have Nani and Valencia, two of the very best in the league to play wide.If he comes in to the center,we have Berbatov,Rooney,Hernandez alone:Welbeck,Diouf and Macheda are waiting in the wings from loan spells. That tells me how needless/pointless his signing is.
the truth is nani/valencia will slug it out on the right flank. nani isn't just the same player operating on the left. js park plays there but he tucks in too much to provide any genuine threat on the left hand side(which makes evra our only left winger) surely, we need someone who will stretch the play on the left. n'zogbia will be my first choice there but it seems fergie prefers english players.

As for Jones, it's still the same thing.Evans,Smalling are better defensively and fit in seamlessly in when either of Vidic/Rio are absent.Where does he (Jones) fit in?
evans and smalling are better defensively? have you actually seen this boy? he's better than johnny evans and i will put him at par with smalling.
get the dvd of the united vs blackburn game(the day we won the league) and see this guy's performance on the day. he can also play as a defensive midfielder. he's strong, aerially powerful and his interceptions are carrick-esque. are you even aware arsene wenger was flirting with this dude and his signing is being described as a coup by alex ferguson?

The hole in the midfield still stares us in the face:Scholes and Hargreaves are gone, are we going to rely on Anderson (streaky, inconsistent perfromances),Fletcher (not the ball-handler we crave), Carrick (decent passer at best) and Giggs (need I say more to you about him?) for the campaign ahead, knowing that Fergie needs to win the European Cup toprove haters wrong about May 28?If as someone says we were expecting 3 signings this summer,I think we need to pray and hope that Chelsea come with the old brigade, otherwise we can't see the league to defend.
fergie will definitely buy midfielders - the phil jones signing was rushed. rival clubs were hovering around him and fergie needed to act fast or lose a prodigious talent. we have till 31st of august to do something to the midfield. i am sure 2 players will come in. ashley young can actually play as an attacking midfielder(depends on what formation fergie is thinking about). it's looking good from here. just relax.

the recent signings don't look daft. . . . . .many fans felt this way when fergie signed chris smalling and hernandez last season. . . . .they were proved wrong. phil jones is a good defender - england under 21 international and he will be learning under the best defensive pair in europe. it's not looking gloomy. fergie will sign midfielders. . . .he has until 31st of august to do so. time is on our side - you guys should relax.

evans has played himself back into the team after his form fell into the pits last year. he was the motm against bolton until his red card and when he came on against chelsea, he looked different. i am 100% certain fergie will give him at least one more season to see things clearly. one bad season is not enough to send evans packing. things are looking good from where i am standing. grin

Sharon your comprehension of the English Language is atrocious.

You are describing ambition as a noun - i.e. the desire to achieve something and also as a noun describing the result desired or object sought after.

Your use of both definitions interchangeably displays your paucity of understanding when it comes to word-usage.
you are a troglodyte. when it comes to word-usage, you are a witless apprentice. now, lemme school you cos you are a tool.
nowhere in this discourse have i mixed the ambition(verb) with the ambition(now). you probably got confused with the phrase "matching one's ambition"

In terms of ambition (desire to achieve), you cannot say that Valencia is above Nasri, as both have expressed the desire to achieve.
how so? saying it is different from rolling one's sleeves and doing the business. valencia came in to fill the void left by cristiano ronaldo, nasri filled in for hleb. use your common sense, who was more ambitious knowing the task at hand?

In terms of ambition (result desired/object sought after), Valencia's 'achieved ambition' (i.e. winning trophies) is clearly higher while Nasri's 'achieved ambition' is limited to participation thus far.
you can say that again. . . . .

However, if we compare the same time period spent in England - the first 3 years, Nasri 'achieved ambition' in his first 3 years (competing for the CL & EPL) is definitely higher compared to Valencia whose 'achieved ambition' was playing for a relegation threatened club.
why compare the time spent in england? why not compare the time in spent in big clubs. why should you compare the overall strength of arsenal to that of wigan? arsenal fans will never compare like for like to save a life. nasri plays for arsenal, valencia does for man utd. these are two teams with identical strength and members of the big four. the comparison is fair. tevez also fought relegation in 2006/7. . . .so you would say adebayor was more ambitious than tevez of west ham in 2006/7 because the togolese competed in the champions league and carling cup final and tevez fought relegation? grin grin

you keep exhibiting stewpidity every single time you open your mouth.

A: Ambition: An eager or strong DESIRE to achieve something

B: i ask again. . . .what has nasri ACHIEVED?
ambition is your desire to achieve something - you have highlighted the wrong verb here: which shows your iq is arrowed towards the left side of zero on the integer scale.

You actually don't see the difference between the DESIRE to achieve something and actually ACHIEVING it? Valencia winning the league with United is not = ambition, it is ACHIEVEMENT. Nasri not winning the league with Arsenal is not a lack of ambition, it is a lack of ACHIEVEMENT.
this boy never went to skool, it has been confirmed now. valencia winning the league with united  means he has matched his ambition. it is every player's dream to win the league title. they say that time and time again. when valencia came into this country, at the back of his mind. . . winning the league title has to be one of his ambitions. . . .winning the league later on means he has now matched his ambition.

In any case, you are still an olodo because the argument is about how ambitious Valencia was at Wigan i.e. BEFORE he won the Carling Cup and EPL with United.
now the tool ties himself in a tortuous knot. how ambitious was valencia at wigan? what kind of illogical question is this? without him being ambitious, he wouldn't even venture going into a big club in the first place. filling the role cristiano ronaldo left is a big task and valencia came in and played his part(that's ambitious). . . .winning the league now means he has now matched his ambition. nasri has none of those.

Cougars aren't the brightest of animals but i think you should be able to decipher this. Otherwise i've either overestimated your intelligence or underestimated your stupidity cheesy
this cougar is actually smarter than you. your failure not to recognise matching one's ambition and an achievement as being the same thing makes you look like a doofus. is valencia more ambitious than nasri(yes, he is). one filled the space left by the best player in the world. . . .nasri filled the role left by alexander hleb. grin i leave your corroded brain-cells to work out whose task was more humongous and which of them has matched his ambition.

so you don't think anderson can dribble, pacy, has guile and comfy in possession? i am not even sure we are discussing the same player any more.
feed your eyes on his youtube clips.

Get it clear, I'm not into the Nasri is more ambitious than Valencia debate, but I seem to be seeing some things that seems to mean ambitious equals: transfer+bigger club +medal.
noted!

On that basis you were making a lot of sense sense until you said Sturridge has not achieved anything by going on loan to Bolton. Winning something with Bolton wasn't on the agenda in the first place. His ambition is to break into the Chelsea first team and to do it he had to go lower. Same as people like Wilshere, they could have chosen to stay and claim 'they are fighting for their place'. Yeah right.
which was why i said sturridge is an upcoming player, a rookie. his ambition is to break into chelsea's first team. has he? you think hiddink will play sturridge ahead of drogba and torres? grin

Vela spent a few years loafing about in Arsenal, then everyone said it was because he didnt have opportunities, he refused this same Bolton then eventually he agreed to go to WestBrom, he still didnt make the cut, that shows lack of ambition. Hence, I do agree that what you do when you make the step up (or even down) that counts. But you seem to write off the ambitions of players who knowingly make the step down. Thats why I brought people like Darron Gibson into it. Seeing as he could have been the natural step up to the role of Scholes from within, where was the ambition in going out to improve himself or SAF couldnt spare him? But he has won things, so is he now ambitious?
i have not written off the ambitions of players who knowingly make the step down. united have got several players on loan at lower clubs as well. all i am saying is until they step up in their parent club and win something - it cannot be concluded yet that they have matched their ambitions.

Oh by the way, I guess Michael Owen is at the biggest he can ever get then. Oh wait, that Ballon D'Or thingy, didnt he beat one guy named Raul to it. Go figure. Ambitious isnt about age my guy. Its about conquering new fronts like you say. Michael Owen is a gambling addicted-lazy-fork! grin
there's nothing else out there for michael owen to conquer. injuries ruined him and at 29, he's done n dusted. the league trophy is a bonus for him though. now, it's documented he has now won a league title after 13 years of trying.

You forgot to add that he also has the first touch of a r@pist and the distribution ability of an epileptic.
same can be said of

rooney
drogba
hernandez
kuyt
tevez

and many more world class strikers.

how many players have got the killer first touch. . . . .in the whole premier league, only berbatov kills the ball dead. giggsy is also good but i have never ever been disappointed with berba's touch even when there's no need for him to execute such amazing skills.

take a peep at this. . . .

i have not mentioned goal scoring as a paramount yardstick,so i am not knocking him for that.although it would have helped his cause.
kindly state a few qualities of Anderson that made you arrive at the bold comment above.
composure
dribbling ability
speed
guile
verve
panache
aggression
comfortable in possession.

should i say more?

mbulela:
He did not say that.at least in the reports i read all he did was ay that he was one of those they were looking at.
he said so. . . . .read the comments in quote. . . .he said maarten is now on top of their most wanted list. top is number one, mbuela.
stop arguing for the sake of it. rene told dutch radio that - and i have quoted what he said. it was after fergie spoke to edwin van der sar that rene's ratings shot up the most wanted list. of course, edwin must have rated maarten so highly.

Comparing who, I'm saying all these silverware, bigger club definitions and analogies of ambitions is mightily flawed.
how so? how is it flawed? a player must win something to be considered great.

At 29 I presume Owen is allowed to say 'he'd rather sit on the bench at Old trafford than go play regularly elsewhere'. Wait, its about their ages. Gayner mind: we just cant compare like for like? Ologbeni I hope you know Mr Gibson is same age as Nasri. Oh sorry he is at the dawn of his career, we cant compare. These for you are examples of unambitious champions.
completely ignoring owen once won ballon d'or in 2001 and was a super player at the dawn of his career. what else is there for owen to achieve at 29? he was the best player in europe 10 years ago. his ability has left him - he cannot be compared to nasri and his name doesn't even fit into the debate. gibson being in the same age as nasri is also off-point. messi is the same age as nasri so what gives. the point is. . . .what has nasri achieved at arsenal after 3 years? yes - he's become an important player for wenger but what has he done with his importance? not even a league runner-up. grin

gibson grew up in the academy. nobody in the united camp has ever claimed him to be the next zidane. he is just who he is, an average player who isn't anywhere the first team. yes, he has won a league title but his part in it was little and that's that. it's loads different from a nasri bought for 15 million and he's yet to win anything for arsenal and yet he wants to leave without leaving any mark or impact in arsenal. that is no ambition.

On the other hand, Sturrdige too could have chosen to play a 'negligible' part in Chelsea push, and if his form at Bolton was anything to go buy, he just might have copped a premiership winners medal for that. Yet he knew to get regular games he had to leave, seeing as Chelsea decided to put faith in a big name. Footballwise that is ambition.
these examples make me laugh. what has sturridge gotta do with this? sturridge is not in chelsea's first team. he will not get ahead of drogba, torres, anelka, etc. he had to be sent on loan to see plenty of football in the lower clubs. same treatment was meted out to macheda, welbeck and miram diouf. he's upcoming. . . .he has not achieved anything by going to bolton to play neither has gibson achieved anything of note playing a little part in united's 19th title. when sturridge wins a trophy by being instrumental to the victory, we shall conclude his issue. for now, he's not even close.

Looking to get better where you are now, so you can move to the next stage that fits your improved ability.
A bigger club buying a better player in a lower club is as normal as morning coffee, what's ambitious about that? undecided
a bigger club buying a better player in a lower club in itself is not an achievement. . . . the achievement comes from what that better player shows when he joins the bigger club. did he just accept to be a pedestrian or did he push himself hard enough to become a vital part of that team? look at valencia - from playing in a relegation threatened team to becoming the first choice winger in the best team in the league - that's a whole lot of achievement. you can put chicharito in that bracket too. those are players with ambitions - not a paraplegic samir nasri who does not know where the next trophy will come from.

@Coogar,
My man,we can debate on and on about Pedros goal.
But Valdez can't be that bad to keep for perennial Spanish champs and present European champs.
As per Anderson, players in his mould are known scorers,or have a significant goal tally.Iniesta at 3 per season is better than 1 per season (though I must admit I expected you to come up with that kind of answer-kudos for doing your homework, bro) and I'd take that any day. . .
valdez is decent, not great. he plays in a system that reduces the opponents to few shots on goal. barca has mastered the art of keeping possession. the average is about 77% this season. same set-up for spain as well. teams don't score many against him and when they do, his strikers will bail him out and outscore the opponents. as long as titles are won, no one remembers the howlers this goalie or that goalie made.
