montelik:giggs and the way fergie sets his team are the reasons we got battered in those games. carrick took a whole to get going but he was outstanding after december. united's major problem is the 4-4-2 formation we often play. in this day and age, 4-4-2 does not protect your defence. it's a wonderful formation to have when throwing the kitchen sink at your opponents but it can be disastrous when you are defending with 4-4-2. a team playing 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 will easily destroy 4-4-2. we play 4-4-2 and nani stays on the touchline, same as valencia. . . . .leaving 2 central midfielders to marshal a space as wide as 60 yards and having to cope 3 opposing midfielders. seriously, what do you expect? fergie knows 4-3-3 is our best set-up against big teams and yet he switched it to 4-4-2 to accommodate hernandez and rooney. who does that? we took 6 points off man city playing 4-3-3 in 09/10. same treatment was meted out to arsenal and tottenham. in those games, carrick was excellent simply because his role was defined. in a 4-4-2 with an ageing ryan giggs, carrick does the job of 2 players. when giggs loses the ball, he does nothing to retrieve it and our defence comes under instant threat. Time to stop making excuses for Carrick my guy. D guy is not playing as well as he should. Carrick in my estimation is even be more gifted than Busquets but his performances are not up to standard required and this can't just be blamed on every one else. Lets be real his form is so bad he can barely make d England squad these days, despite being a starter when we signed him back in 06.forget the england set up. how many titles have the players in england's midfield won since carrick joined man utd? carrick has been united's most consistent starter in the midfield and his midfield has only failed once to win the premier league since carrick joined man utd. the excuse before now was ronaldo and tevez. even without ronaldo and tevez, carrick's midfield won the league and played in a european final. care to explain that? carrick cannot be so bad to be playing in the most important area of the pitch and yet his team has won 3 league titles in the last four seasons. i don't care whether carrick starts for england or not. he's better than gareth barry and the likes. montelik:evra should watch fabio da silva then. his primary role is defending and he should be picking his moments. a good defender should know when to maraud upfield and when to hold. his final ball is hit-n-miss 90% of the time and he tries ridiculous tricks when a simple pass is required. evra collects the ball from the back and marches forward. instead of him to release a simple/effective pass. . . .he tries his dud tricks, loses the ball and the opponents simply runs into the space he's left behind. . . . .vidic sees a gaping hole and he tries to cover and attempts a nasty tackle that either leads to a freekick or a yellow/red card. that's simply unacceptable! I remember Neville speaking about how he loved playing CR7 in 2007. Why, cos even though they didn't have d understanding he had with Becks, with CR7 in front of him, he could simply focus on defending properly as CR7 could take on d opposition with requiring much assistance. Give Evra a break, he plays more minutes than any other United player.ronaldo does not track back. he hardly tracks back and neville picks his moments to bomb forward. besides, neveller can dig out a sweet cross and you can always expect red nev to be reliable when he was in his pomp. evra was disappointing this season. it seems he has lost his mojo and what i really hated about him this season was the fanciful tricks he plays when he should be aiming for a simple pass. |
montelik:rooney scored 34 goals as a lone striker in the penultimate season. owen is insignificant in this transition process. the wages he draws from the club is little. he rarely plays and we don't really lack firepower in the attack department. fergie's team always scores. we scored more goals the season after ronaldo and tevez left. so the midfield is the real issue. I really like Sanchez, but it seems he is now more interested in playing further forward. He looks to be going d way Nedved did. Besides most of d time I've watched him he plays from d right. He is two footed, but does significantly favor his right. I would prefer a left footed or genuinely two footed player. Not too sure Nzobia is up to it. I suspect he wouldn't be able to meet up. But I wouldn't mind some one like Eden Hazard.sanchez can play anywhere in the front line. . . . .he's a very good player. nzogbia is exactly what we lack. he's strong and his direct running at the opponents is a bonus. an attribute only anderson and nani has got in our entire team. you need to watch the man utd vs wigan game at old trafford this season. nzogbia destroyed our defence more than messi did at wembley. Yes we do. I don't mean a defensive midfielder or destroyer. I mean is an energetic central midfielder who can run, tackle, press, track & follow, as well as put himself about physically. Also can run with d ball and has good movement as well as a decent pass and shot. Just like Hargreaves did for us and Bayern. Carrick may seem like Busquets but he is a really poor version. D guy has no energy and doesn't have d physical presence, going by his form and performances over d last 2 years. We have needed more energy at times in our center, which is why we are always screaming for Park to play against any credible opposition for d last 2 years. It not just cos of Giggs and Scholes age, but cos Carrick has d energy levels of 10 year old, Anderson is unreliable and immature and Fletcher can only do so much. We badly miss what Hargo gave us. Fletcher and Anderson will just have to respond to d competition. Just like Giggs persistent involvement is and indictment of creativity from d center, so is d constant need for Park an indictment of d work-rate and effectiveness of d central midfielders.carrick is as equally gifted as sergio busquets. the difference between them are their team-mates. while busquets boasts of hardworking team-mates like pedro, messi, iniesta and villa who all press from the front, carrick has giggs and 2 touch line hugging wingers who widen the centre of the pitch for him. it simply doesn't work. if you partner busquets with giggs as well, the results would have been the same. it was giggsy's lethargic defending that roasted us. i have seen the match 5 times and i honestly felt for carrick. he was constantly battling 4-5 barcelona players as barca played a 4-6-0 formation on the night. No doubt Evra has not been up to scratch. But d guy has played pretty much 2 roles for well over d last 2 seasons, with no back-up or even understudy. Despite playing at fullback he is d one who provides pretty much all our penetration down d left. D load on him is too much and now that his form has dipped it is showing. If he at least had a capable left winger in front of him he would be able to focus more on his defensive game, now that his form has wobbled. We don't need to sell him we need to first sort out d left wing. Vidic himself showed sign of strain on ocassion, when he had to carry load with Rio absence and no respite from poor midfield.evra's positioning has been rubbish. he leaves a gaping hole at the back whenever he marauds forward. i have studied this at length too. evra is the reason vidic gets plenty of cards. he forces vidic's hands to come out of his position and make dangerous tackles leading to a sending off a dangerous freekick. evra is the first player to try tricks or flicks when a simple pass can suffice. i don't know what suddenly went wrong with him - he used to be very excellent at what he does. on the other side of the pitch, rafael/fabio do their jobs very well. when they are caught out of possession, they rely on their pace and aggression to win the ball back. evra has none of those as he is much older. watch pedro's goal again. evra just got attracted to the ball and left a gaping hole in his zone. for messi's goal. . . . .he was ball-watching, failed to close messi down in time and the rest was history. if i were fergie, i will purchase contreao. |
debosky:wenger has to make wholesale defensive changes to compete. . . . . .i found this on opta. . . . . Chants are one of the few things that Opta do not keep track of these days but no doubt their boffins chuckled to themselves when Thomas Vermaelen headed a corner clear against Fulham last Sunday and the Arsenal fans giddily started singing, to the tune of White Stripes' Seven Nation Army, "We defended a corner! We defended a corner!" That was an appropriately sarcastic condemnation of the team that conceded a higher proportion of goals from set-pieces (53.5%) this season than any other in the Premier League. It may have been Vermaelen's clearance that triggered Sunday's celebration, but that does not mean Arsenal would have defended set-pieces better throughout the campaign if the Belgian had been fit: they let in exactly the same number of goals from set-pieces this season as they did last season (23), when Vermaelen regularly featured. That toll is almost double the number that Arsenal conceded during the 2008‑09 campaign (12), so what happened in the summer of 2009 that suddenly caused their set-piece defending to deteriorate? Sol Campbell left long before that (in his last season, 2005‑06, Arsenal only conceded nine goals from set-pieces) so perhaps Kolo Touré's departure to Manchester City had a bigger effect than is generally supposed? The Ivorian managed more headed clearances in his last season in London than any other Arsenal player – and his tally for that term, 129, is also more than any Arsenal player managed this season. Craven Cottage is home to the side that conceded the fewest goals from set-pieces this season (10). Perhaps Arsène Wenger should revive his interest in Brede Hangeland and Mark Schwarzer? Hangeland, indeed, made more clearances (424) than any other player this season, with the exception of Blackpool's Ian Evatt (430). West Bromwich Albion were one of only three teams to concede more, in actual terms, from set-pieces than Arsenal, letting in 30 goals, followed by Aston Villa (27) and Sunderland (24) I am not Cesc, neither have I said this previously. In my view, the changes this season - falling woefully at the last hurdle in the CC, the appalling falling away late in the season and a new owner mean that Wenger is under more pressure to deliver than ever before. Factor in an increase in season ticket prices and you have a very dangerous situation for the club as a whole - if there isn't sufficient confidence in the side, the empty seats at the Emirates might soon become unsold seats, not just absentees.fans will still go out there to cheer even if arsenal relegate. for every disgruntled supporter that fails to show up at the emirates, there are hundreds waiting in the queue outside to cop a season ticket. football is a religion. the emirates won't miss any fan. arsenal's 125th anniversary don't mean squat. if 5 seasons without a trophy couldn't push arsene wenger to ring some changes, i wonder how the anniversary would make any difference. this season proved the difference between the top teams and the bottom teams have shrunk. tottenham and man city have improved massively and liverpool will give it a go under kenny dalglish. this was wenger's best chance of winning the league when man utd were in transition, chelsea were unstable and liverpool regressed. i don't think there's going to be another season where united will cop just five away wins in the league and chelsea won't cock it up like they did again. next season is going to be very tough. . . .p.s. tottenham just signed brad friedel. ![]() |
debosky:are you sure this keeper isn't crazy jens lehmann? clichy, koscielny, djourou must go. they were useless last season. It'll be interesting to see what he actually does this window - it is clearly the most important one of his reign yet. . .i have been hearing this since 2007. this season is the most important for wenger, next season will be the decider. wenger has one chance left and so on and forth. it's now 3 seasons ago since cesc said if arsenal don't win a title - he would leave. |
Osama10:wenger has no plans and if he does. . . . .he will not plug the holes in the arsenal team. i don't know why wenger hasn't signed a goalie yet after what his team suffered last season and the penultimate season. the defenders are also b-rated. they all need to be sold. the midfield and the attack is not too bad but the back five(bar sagna) need to be replaced. |
montelik:owen will be a back-up to berbatov-chicharito-hernandez. how many games will owen start? he's on pay by play. . . .we don't really need too many players in the attack department! We are losing VDS, G. Nev, Scholes, Hargo all this summer. Of these 4, 3 (we are reasonably covered at full-back) have to replaced immediately with quality and pedigree not just any half-decent players available. I also feel we need another dynamic winger, naturally left-footed in mold of a Giggs or CR7. We might also need a striker capable of leading d line and playing upfront on his own like Ruud, Saha used to do for us.we need alexi sanchez or charles n'zogbia on that left side. . . .and two quality central midfielders. the absence of scholes will dent our creativity. i will not mind sneijder. . . . By my analysis this summer we absolutely need one midfield enforcer (not a defensive midfielder), one ball playing central midfielder, a quality keeper who can competently produce as United No. 1. We could also do with a dynamic left footed winger to replace Giggs as wells as Obertan who should be let go and a capable striker with d ability to play upfront alone. These signings should lead to a few departures such as Obertan, Gibson, Owen, Brown or even more established guys like Fletcher, Park or Berba. So be it if that is what occurs, we need competition in certain positions to ensure we don't get complacent.do we really need an enforcer? big teams don't need one anymore. we are not stoke or birmingham. barcelona have no midfield enforcers. busquets is like carrick. he is just more positionally sound than angel michael. if a team can press together at the same time, there's no need for an enforcer crunching bones and fouling every now and then. With Rio and Vida to be a year older they could do with a better stronger midfield in front of them. EVra has played as left full-back and left winger for us since 09 and strain is starting to show in his performances, he could do with a quality winger in front of him. At least 4 signings needed this summer. When we are being pushed to play Giggs in central midfield cos we got no creativity in our central midfielders, its a sign that even if d present players aren't crap, they need competition and inspiration to get back to d standard required.evra had a disappointing season. he is our worst player these days. i am shocked fergie is not looking at replacing evra with contreao. maybe he's thinking of playing fabio there. i hope giggs never plays for us again. he should just retire and allow the budding stars to flourish. the longer he remains in that team, the more fergie will continue to rely on him and make us look like we don't have better options. if we play barcelona tomorrow again, fergie will start giggs. |
MeandSum:it's a username. . . . .i don't see the fuss over it. he wants to be known as "evilspirit", let him. . . |
MeandSum:latin americans bear the name jesus - no biggie in that. |
dayokanu:van persie blasting chelsea. . . . .little wilshere accusing united. . . . . .this club is in turmoil. i am amazed they didn't point accusing fingers at birmingham fc for denying them a title this season. no single player waves the imaginary card at the referee more than cesc fabregas and these hypocrites are yappin' their mouths. |
BlueDiva:fact still remains man utd won the league and reached the 3rd european final in 4 seasons. every united fan would have taken that last august when united couldn't win a league game away from home. Starboard my backside.. . . . . . .then let the ish play out. . . . .you never know, starboard might actually wave the olive branch or flip the bird in your face. i will be waiting patiently to see where this ends. ![]() |
evilspirit:osun state near osogbo(i guess) |
BlueDiva:mourinho was the european manager of the year when his team lost 5-0 to the same barcelona with 11 men on the pitch. Posession was more than 60 percent for Barca.a single shot on goal that was also the only goal. 100% chance conversion rate. . . .i will take that. better than chelsea losing 4 times to man utd in 2010/11 season. better than chelsea finishing the season potless. better than roman abramovic tearing up ancelotti's scripts. chelsea are indeed a disgrace. with more than £100 million spent in the last 12 months, you still finished 9 points below man utd in the league. . . . .you have your priorities misplaced feeling ashamed for man utd. you should be more ashamed of your pathetic club. Common coogar. . .edit the quote.are you scared of starboard? by the time he descends on your blue-arse, the whole nl community will pity you. tick tock tick tock. . . . . |
BlueDiva:football is a game of 90 mins. 2 teams compete for 90 mins and a winner must emerge. am i ashamed united lost to barcelona? hell no. barcelona are not birmingham fc or everton fc. barcelona = spanish national team + best player in the world. so i dunno why fergie would have sold his wife to win a european final - a competition he has won twice. however, any of the london clubs will commit genocide to play in such occasion. chelsea with all their might have never won the competition(played in the final just once) same as arsenal. PS:i don't edit posts. . . . . |
khanye:easily the best left back in the world at the moment. ferguson missed a good player letting coentrao walk unchallenged into real madrid. |
BlueDiva:you often talk out of line. so fergie would have sacrificed his wife for beating barcelona? is it that fergie has never beaten barcelona before or what? arsenal beat barcelona this season, did wenger sacrifice his wife too? chelsea fans can be very thick at times. the exit of carlo ancelotti has reversed the intelligence threshold of the average chelsea fan. majority of you guys are simpletons these days. |
Odichi:get yourself a visa and go after him. . . . |
I guess it is only illiterates that watch nollywood films. What a dumb man is this Desmond. And he called himself crime investigator. Heavy argument and blood?, how does the blood come out?. His defense statement has nailed the man already.
use your common sense. . . . ---desmond never said he is a crime investigator. he said he watches a tv channel called "crime and investigation". ---the blood came about when the woman injured herself in the tussle and scuffle. ---the woman then took advantage of her bleeding and got herself a bloodied face to convince the police that she has been severely beaten. ---desmond is not dumb, you are. . . . |
evilspirit:you don't pay house rent? |
Ibime:modric is even more effective than nasri as their 'key passes' stats clearly show. i won't pay nasri more than van persie. . . . .it has to be less than the dutch striker which means £80k circa. |
Ibime:i have told you i don't do goals/match. i do goals/minutes spent. print out the number of minutes spent on the pitch Ronaldo number 9? Then why does he fight with JM when JM tried to play him no 9 against Barca?he did not score 53 goals from the flanks. he scored them playing centrally in the attack. he blamed jose's tactics in the el-clasico. . .he did not fight jose for playing him in the centre forward position. Minutes on pitch would make Higuain's record more impressive because as you know, he has never been guaranteed a start at Real, and a lot of his goals came from the bench. He had to contend with the likes of Ronaldo Luiz, Raul, Benzema and Van Nistelrooy competing with him and often had to play on the right wing, or start on the bench.then print out these minutes on the pitch. . . . . |
Akolawole:we have paid him tributes in the previous pages. scholes is a world class midfielder and he will be missed. |
FBS:fat ibime knows nothing. his vision on football matters is extremely blurry. |
Ibime:your preference is not my cup of tea and i reiterate naldo is better than alex/ivanovic. Higuain with 1 goal every 1.84 games has a better record in Real than every other no 9 in a top league except David Villa, Samuel Eto and Mario Gomez.the statistics of the number of minutes spent on the pitch is a more precise way of measuring the performance. ronaldo is a number 9. . . .why is his name excluded? diego forlan? |
Ibime:xavi that once recorded 20 la liga assists? you must be a dork. iniesta's steady supply of key-passes also makes nasri look like an amateur. ahhhhh, the poof quickly replaced xavi with modric and he ties himself further in a tortuous knot. nasri is ranked 23rd in the number of key passes made in the premier league, modric is 10th. nasri rarely makes assists, his key-passes are even lower than his hype and he doesn't score plenty of goals. so where is the £120k coming from? |
Ibime:and why should i take advice from a hilly-billy that told us united will not win the premier league title again cos of ronaldo's exit. naldo is a bloody good defender. that he plays in a shyt team in bundesliga will not tarnish his brilliance. i will take him over alex and ivanovic every day of the week. Higuain is a better prospect for Chelsea than every striker on Chelsea's books, and at £13m, is the deal of the summer.higuain is a better prospect? better than nando torres? you must be high on pawpaw branches. I guess Coogar and FBS' exposure to Higuain is limited to RM vs Lyon in UCL QF hence their argument that he misses many chances.higuain is a shyt striker. any decent striker should be tearing la liga apart especially since florentino perez and barcelona created a huge gulf between the top two and the rest of the spanish league. however, he just gets shittier and shittier. higuain will flop at chelsea. you don't even have the flair to bring out the best of torres and yet you still desire a latino striker with your rigid mechanical midfielders. i laugh in borokiri. better stick to a mechanical striker like drogba or lukaku. i will also add carlton cole, jason roberts, yakubu, adebayor and kewyne jones to your shopping list. |
Ibime:samir nasri at £110k a week because of his 10 league goals and 1 assists? why not pay him £400k a week? sometimes you seem not to know how things work in the premier league. this is nasri's best season in an arsenal shirt and he wasn't even in the top 40 premier league players as far as creativity is concerned. the likes of jarvis, albrighton, joey barton, downing, meireles, ameobi, kalou, dempsey, etc outshone nasri in his bests season yet. arsene wenger is not silly. he must know nasri isn't worth more than £60k. knock yourself over with this. . . . .http://www.myfootballfacts.com/Premier_League_Combined_2010-11.html |
Ibime:torres failed at chelsea and he is a better striker than higuain. higuain my foot - the most overrated striker on the planet. his idiocy eliminated madrid in 09/10 season in the champions league. How can you doubt the quality of a nucca who keeps Aguero and Milito on the Argentina bench.simply because he plays for a much bigger club. diego milito was a one-off and aguero plays in the lesser team in madrid. in terms of ability, aguero is a better player than higuain. Which kain nonsense you dey yarn? Whether JM or no JM, there are quality players at RM who will be sold including Diarra, Canales, Higuain etc.which simply proves aguero is more talented than higuain. it's a different scenario if higuain himself is engineering a move out of madrid - he has fallen out of favour with the fans and they are farming him out into oblivion. |
dayokanu:bayern have the pull in bundesliga. neuer flipped the bird on schalke to join bayern. i think bayern should be able to bully any club to submission and get whatever they want. i'm not sure how a defender plying his trade in another league will cope with the german league. i am shocked you don't rate naldo. he's like vidic on playstation. ![]() |
dayokanu:i will get hummel and that brazilian(naldo). i have the best defence with those two in my defence in the fifa 11's ultimate team. naldo is a super duper defender. i don't know how good he really is for werder bremen but i think he's worth a punt. |
dayokanu:bayern fc are not smiling at all. let's hope bayern turns neuer into a beast. he is a good goalie but susceptible to shots aimed low and hard. he's young and he has the potential to be greater than oliver khan. good luck to him in bayern fc. |
4llerbuntu:wenger can easily make the £25 million back if he sells one of his disgruntled players. i also thought arsenal could have done better in the group stage by topping their group and making more money but then shyt happens. the club is well-run and the only thing missing is a trophy which i am quite sure they can achieve if wenger can instil the belief in his wards. |
