Nihilist: Determining the value of a player to who? The buyer or the seller?
the market value - to both the buyer & the seller. actually, this is how buy-out clause came to be. it serves as a starting point where the negotiation would start from.

Economic Value is not the same as Price...Value is subjective...especially Exchange Value...Which is why the report is extremely stupidd.
value isn't subjective - price is.....
value is the same everywhere. something is either valuable or valueless. value is the bar, the price can then be over the value or under the value depending on the circumstance.

elampiro: Age, contract length, goals, points per match. Are you kidding me?

Is this not rubbish of the highest order?
it's not rubbish - those are the key parameters in determining the value of a player. jeeeez, if they are rubbish, they won't make the headlines of all major newspapers across europe.

elampiro: I saw something like that, I think yesterday or day before, I refused to read the details.

How did they arrive at that? So what did they calculate for Rodriguez, Bale, Fabregas, Suarez. It will be interesting to know. Even Robben, it will be nice to see their estimate.
how's that my business? the subject of the matter here is angel di maria. - you have started beating your chest that you called it right & i am saying he was overvalued at £59m.

elampiro: At your level you want to believe a certain report that we overpaid for Di Maria by £24m?

Same way someone showed me how we overpaid for Mata, Fellaini and Blind. He said Fellaini true value was £16m. Mata's value was £25m. He brought a chart to support his claim, and in the Chart, Rooney was closed to £60m.

How ridiculous!
it's not a journalist report - it's a research made by CIES in switzerland.

elampiro: At some point, just as it's the usual style to ridicule big players and bring them down, some said Di Maria wasn't worth above £35m, while they also said Ashley Young was better than him. This was the same way they argued Robben wouldn't cost more than £20m or so.
yes, di maria isn't worth £59m. there is a market report out there that we overpaid by a whooping £24m for him. in other words, his true market value is £35m....less than what we paid to sign juan mata.

Today, no matter the formation, whether 3-5-2, every pundit here is putting Di Maria in all of them ahead of all the forwards. How time flies.
it's friday...another day of nonsense talks by elampawa. if we had bought matt jarvis as a winger, he would be in everyone's formation - that's pretty much given because he's new. if we are going to put any new signing on the bench, why sign him in the first place?

Deiok: some times all a team need is a throw in and set pieces. The problem is we dont have good setpiece taker, unlike athl. Madrid who will punish you with a corner kicks, if you let them get up to three.
Our last game val got us more than four corners, and we were not able to capitalize on any of it.
so you prefer valencia's lazy approach of getting a corner instead of putting a good cross into the box when the opposition defence is in disarray? grin cheesy

valencia is wack - he's finished. no football brain. young had 2 genuine penalty shouts against burnley & he crosses the ball better than valencia. if young plays on the right, you would see the difference......

SailorXY: this is why this team has been left in its current state, ZERO COMPETITION!
Welbeck or Hernandez might be doing fine while RvP is out injured but the moment RvP returns, Welbeck falls to the wings or bench, irrespective of the performance of Wayne Rooney. it cant spur the reserve players to do their best when the opportunity arises.

Valencia shytes all over the world but gets to keep his place no matter what! why? is there some kind of must-play clauses signed by some players? this is exactly why Nani's confidence plummeted after carrying United on his bare back with Valencia injured.

see how everyone is trying to fix Falcao, Rooney, RvP, Mata, di Maria into the same front-line, without checks & balances. i have always been advocating for Kagawa & Mata to square-off for the No. 10 role under Muyis, while Rooney & RvP slug it out for the No. 9.
no be by force say everybody must squeeze in, displace your competition or fall to the bench. Kalas!
it's a beautiful problem....
VP & rooney must now know they are no longer the new bride again. hopefully, this would spur rooney on to perform - if we can get 80% of rooney's capacity then we will win the league.

the midfield looks decent now with the addition of blind....carrick is few weeks away from playing football again. rojo & fat shaw should be fit for our next game. all of a sudden, we look a different team.

afrodoc2: I believe it would be a right footed center half and a left footed one cos LVG always likes balance. So it is Rojo v Blackett v Evans for one spot(LCB) and then Jones v Smalling v Evans for the RCB. LB will be Shaw v Rojo v Blackett.
Evans has regressed badly over the last season,he has zero confidence.
i like am like that....
there's genuine competition in the squad now unlike before when the big players think they can just stroll into the team.

at least until FA cup starts in january, we only get to play in the league - it means enough big egos would sleep on the bench. if LVG goes back to back four, we would fare better - evans & co are finding it hard to adapt. they are clueless.

until rafael gets back, valencia shouldn't even be among the travelling squad. he needs deliverance. if daley blind & herrera bring their A-game as quick as possible, i see us going on a winning run that would put the jitters in our rivals.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 9:14pm On Sep 04, 2014
afrodoc2: We need either pace or width in attack. Going with Falcao,Rooney,RVP,Mata offers neither. We just kicking around ideas here though.
My personal best formation would be a 4-2-3-1 formation that offers maximum protection to our weak defense and gives us pace and width on the flanks like this....

--------------------de gea--------------------

-----rafael-----jones-----rojo-------shaw-----

----------carrick------------blind-------------

----adnan---------herrera---------di maria-----

-----------------falcao------------------------

Summary is this. The only way Rooney or RVP should start is if we are playing 2 strikers.....NEITHER ROONEY NOR RVP CAN PLAY ON THE WINGS AGAIN. Mata can not play on the wings either and without a VERY SOLID central midfield behind him Mata is useless as a 10.
why does everyone think jones would be the preferred centre-half & not blackett? LVG seems to like blackett & the young lad has barely put a foot wrong apart from letting bony take a quick freekick that led to swansea's winner at OT.

jones might cop some bench-time. van gaal wouldn't like his rush-of-blood football. he's very good on the ball though - he's better than smalling in that aspect. the current evans is shyte - hopefully, international football would remove some of the rustiness in him.

if that link was authored by the OP then she has herself to blame.

she was dating a man who left her to engage another babe in nigeria. the man never told her he had a fiancée.....until the OP got pregnant.

the man told her he would go ahead & marry the babe in nigeria & then changed his mind. he broke up the relationship with the babe in nigeria & the OP took him back.

according to the OP, she felt betrayed & love ended at that point - so why did she marry him? if you are not in love with a man who you felt betrayed you, why marry him?

zboyd: Usually, women are not calling each other old hags and expired goods - men are.
yes, women do!
women are more likely to use age & expiring eggs to attack each other. women are more likely to flaunt their married status or use it to look down on the other. women set those standards, leave the men out of your bullshyte.

no one is forcing nigerian women to church. they aren't held at gunpoint or knifepoint. if anyone willingly goes where she can be brainwashed or manipulated after spending almost 20 years in school, then she fully deserves the consequences.

Btw...I'm not a Nigerian woman...but as a woman...I find it highly insulting and offensive.
old hag is old hag - there's nothing insulting in saying someone is old. it's a description. the one you should address is married women making single women look like social outcasts.
Family › Re: 'Dear God, Send Me A Husband' by coogar: 12:38pm On Sep 04, 2014
zboyd: You and anyone else should ask yourself...

What is it about Nigerian society that deems women less than because they're unmarried?

What drives Naija men to refer to single women over-30 as old hags and expired goods, especially if women challenge (disagree) with them?

What makes some Nigerians assume over-30 women are lesbians?

What makes over-30 women lie about their age?

Why...

...is there such a double standard regarding over-30 women, compared to over-30 men?

...do some married women look down their noses at unmarried women over-30?

...do some women throw up single women's unmarried state in their faces, as in "At least I'm married!", especially in the midst of arguments?

...do so many unmarried women think they're 'incomplete' without a 'Mrs.' in front of their names?

...are so many women living lives of quiet desperation, lonely and depressed because they're not married?

...do some women deplore their unmarried state so much that they're willing to marry men other women wouldn't even consider?

This is the type of social conditioning that drives single women into the arms of predatory pastors and their minions and pushes them to do all kinds of outrageous things. And some single women will do just about anything, to end their unmarried state and proudly claim their 'Mrs.' title. And they will hold on to it for dear life, even if the marriage turns out to be unfulfilling and/or disastrous. For them, divorce is not an option.

The only thing worse is being married and remaining childless.

But that's another issue entirely.
you nigerian women set those standards - don't lump nigerian men into it.

They weren't silly to omit Welbeck's name in the team of the tournament whilst having Dani's included.

I've seen tournaments were an attacker was a total pant yet ended up grabbing 'em awoof goals.

How effective was Torres for Spain at Euro 2012 yet he won the golden boot at the tournament.

Numbers sometimes lie bruh - I'd defend that assertion with my whole life anyday anytime.
the torres analogy can't cut it here.
torres wasn't the only player that scored for spain in euro 2012, he was just the highest goal scorer.

at this particular tournament - welbeck scored all the goals england got in the tournament. let that sink in & re-read it again. sturridge didn't play as a goalie or defender or winger. he played as a striker but he fired blanks all through.

http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/What-The-Papers-Say/2008/Nov/Papers-Credit-to-Cole.aspx

the above URL was when ghana FA was threatening to pursue welbeck by fire by force. if england were really concerned, they would have given welbeck his debut in 2008 even if it's a 2-minute cameo. why wait till 2011?

i repeat, numbers don't lie.
