My argument stands. RVP wouldn't do well in a 4-3-3. Whoscored just corroborated me. I didn't know whoscored even captured it this way. I jut knew hyenas can't be good in a 4-3-3.

RVP functioned in arsenal's 4-3-3. there are 2 basic variants of the traditional 4-3-3(offensive & defensive).

in the offensive type, only one player sits in the midfield & the other 2 are ahead. in the defensive type, 2 players sit in the midfield & one is at the tip of the triangle(operating in the hole).

the latter was what RVP functioned in & he did it well. you keep quoting whoscored as if they represent the only gospel - wenger confirmed 4-3-3. i cited mourinho's 4-3-3 with lampard behind drogba. what else do you want?

that's a misleading headline - van gaal didn't tell the players to use long ball. their lack of confidence to travel with the ball like rafael/evra/rio can do is the reason they are lumping it forward.

Everyone knows Arsenal don't play 4-3-3. In a 4-3-3, One midfielder would be far upfield close to the final 3rd as an AM. The striker would we deeper and not a box striker like Chicha.

elampiro, don't rewrite football tactics. there's 4-3-3 in variants. the 3 in the midfield can have 2 as a pivot and one at the tip. sometimes the 3 in the midfield can have one in the pivot & 2 in front of him(barcelona, the arsenal formation debosky posted)......even sometimes the 3 in the midfield can line up horizontally flat!
