Look at that beautiful through-ball from Iwobi to Osimhen who made a good cutback to Lookman. I said it that Iwobi needs to play closer to the box instead of dropping deep and that's what he did.

Lookman should have shot immediately; he didn't but still managed to dribble his way out of a tight situation and fired a left footed shot which hit the post and entered the net.

Beautiful goal

TheGoodJoe:
Ndidi is not much of a distributor. So transition from defense to midfield will suffer without Iwobi. What is making it look poor is Iwobi not distributing properly and I expect Chelle to sort him out on that.
.

Iwobi's distribution will work better if he's closer to the box. I don't like him playing in that deep lying CM role.

I loved that celebration. Beautiful from Ndidi

Another lovely assist from Lookman. 1 goal and two assists already in this tournament.

Lookman is truly our main guy when it comes to AFCON. Incredible player.

I remember how some said that Lookman wasn't fit for African football because he was born abroad. Oh, how he has shut them up... grin

Honestly, I feel Iwobi is dropping too deep. We need that guy to play closer to the box. That's where he'll be more impactful.

Who put that beautiful cross into the box? Of course, Alex Iwobi, the most creative midfielder in this team 😄😎💪💥

joelsteron:
Please by "creative" what do you mean exactly. Do you mind to elaborate please?
By 'creative,' I mean producing effective solutions on the field to generate clear goalscoring opportunities. It's about vision and intelligent risk taking that usually results in a shot on goal.

According to WhoScored (as of Dec 10, 2025), Iwobi has a tally of 23 chances created (i.e chances that immediately led to a shot on goal) which ranks him among the top 20 creators in the entire Premier League.

According to One-Versus-One (as of Dec 17, 2025), Iwobi has a tally of 34 successful passes into the box which shows his ability to consistently get the ball into the most dangerous areas.

These numbers highlight that a high percentage of his passes into the danger zone are of such quality that they usually directly result in a clear chance for a teammate.

The real issue for Nigeria is that he often plays a deep, restrictive central midfield (CM) role where he is shackled with defensive duties. Playing him as an attacking midfielder (AM) in a 4-3-3 or Supporting Striker (SS) in a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 is crucial to maximize his talent. This way, he can focus purely on exploiting space and delivering those creative passes without having to sprint 80 yards back every time.

He is most likely the only Super Eagle to achieve 33 goals and 37 assists in Premier League history. No be beans. 😤

Which yeye Iwobi oga .. Na no creativity but intensity make Chelle remove am against Congo ahbi?
Lol, Iwobi was substituted in the 77th minute in that game against DRC. You make it sound like he was yanked off in the first half or something. grin

See, I know it may be hard for you to accept but the truth is that until we find a suitable replacement, Iwobi still remains not just the best but the ONLY creative midfielder in that squad and today's match proved it.

He dribbled the goalkeeper and fired a bullet left footed shot into the top right corner. Good through pass from Yamal and a ferocious finish from Marcus Rashford. 💥😎⚽😄💪

This is one of De Jong's best matches in quite some time. His forward runs and passes have been on point and he just grabbed an assist for himself. Great cross and great header from Christensen

I've it multiple times that Kounde is one of the very best when he overlaps and crosses the ball.

That move started because Ferran was smart enough to drop deep which then dragged away the defenders and created space at the back.

Brilliant move from Ferran, good cross from Kounde which caused that deflection and good tap in from Raphinha.
