Thanks guys for the contributions but basically what I am seeing here are two school of thoughts, people who see a car as luxury and those who see it as a necessity
Some peeps view jumping from keke to danfo, danfo to okada, fighting with conductor and so on as a way of life
isn't investing in ur life, comfort, and so on part of an investment?? |

Specialist900: spot on.
all he tried to say was that your earlier said where you work isn't far from where you stay. He then assumed that since you stay with your folks there should be a utility vehicle for you to use at home.
In his opinion in which I seem to buy now, he said for now you don't need the car. It will pay you better if you invested the cash. point well taken, thanx |

DGD1: since u want a car, DAT salary is OK, I wonder y alot of people think you have to earn 200k and above to own a car. if you can save to get a toks or good naija used car, all you need do is just to fuel and do routine maintenance NUREY has given you breakdown, dat is on the high side. using a car is beta n saves alot of stress, though I don't stay in Lagos, 2500 fuel will last me a week BT if I consider public transport will b spending @least 2000, now think of d stress from one taxi to d oda, no privacy, sum ppl will just talk to u any aw, d stress n discomfort, I bliv if am paying 500 for DAT, it Worth's it. bro go 4 d car n u won't regret. Noted, thanks for your contribution |

GAZZUZZ: My own opinion, you don't need a car, save the money for a business, marriage, investment................ I'm sure there's a utility car where you live. So basically everybody that has a car earns more than 100k, is married or has investments?? |

GAZZUZZ: Not enough info to give you a resonable response, break down what you do with 100k every month (dstv, rent, transport, food savings.....)
After that it will be easy to answer. I spend like 18k on transport and feeding monthly, my office is close to where i stay and i still stay with my folks and i can comfortably save 60k monthly Hope that's enough |

davou4eva: Bros, getting a car is not a luxury but a necessity. Just ensure to get a car that you can maintain within your income and ensure to be serious about the maintenance. I bought my first car when i was earning less than 100k and am already using my third car, i mean, i will sell the one am using and add some amount of money to buy new one. It's all about been prudent in your spending. Best Thanks, A Honda Accord fits this bill right? |
Car Talk › Re: 100k Salary Enough To Get A Car? by coolluk(op): 12:34pm On Apr 09, 2015 |
nurey: 100k can't maintain a car, I disagree with this, a car isn't necessarily be seen as a luxury, but as a means of making life easier. If you spend close to #500 a day for transport come on for a week its #2500 even that I can use for close to a week on a V6 3.0L, I magine if the op was driving a corolla with 1.6L engine or 1.8L engine it will make a lot of sense.
How much does it cost to service a car at a go Engine oil 12K x 3 Filter let's say 2K x 3 Brakepads 24k for a year all legs Miscellaneous 20k Total for a year 86,000 And you would have earned 1.2m in a year remove the maintenance from it u still have 1.1m to spend
Since I have been using my car for a year (clean title tokunbo) I have not even spent 50k on it for a year I just change oil twice a year, filter, brakes and bulbs for the lights. I was surprised too, some people earn less and still use and maintain cars |

edozie04: Getting a car is not the problem but maintaining it is the problem, ask yourself, what do you need the car for? business or just eko for show, if it's for business then go ahead but for the latter do not try it Bro its not like i wanna buy a range rover, just for ease of movement and life in general PS- i work in an office and d car is not for business |

EMMARCHMOVIES: New Beginning! I was left in tears when i read Presidents Goodlucks congratulatory message to Gen. Buhari I was not crying because i felt like crying, i was not crying cause i supported him and he lost, but i cried cause his words arrested my emotions. He wished his opponent a good administration ahead, he congratulated him and accepted defeat. I could remember by this time in 2011, Buhari never accepted that he lost, he promised Jonathan that he will make his administration ungovernable for him and he later fulfilled his promise. His supporters took to the streets and slaughtered innocent Nigerians but he never stopped the killings. But today, he has won that same man that defeated him in 2011 but got a congratulatory message instead of threats. He has wished him success and not promising him an ungovernable tenure. Few weeks to the election, the people we call our leaders were busy sending threats to themselves and leaving the poor masses gripped with fear. Some people left the country with fear of the aftermath of the election. But today you'v restored peace by accepting defeat peacefuly. Oh! Jonathan, you've shown us that you'r a good man. You'v shown African leaders the true definition of democracy. You wished not to influence the elections with your powers, you wished not to cancel the election when you can do it and nothing will happen. Posterity will never forget you where ever you go. I am still your fan for life. You'r a good and gentleman but sorrounded by ingrates and fools that care for their pockets alone. Oh Jona! You lost the election but won my heart Orubebe is that you? |
