Viktor1983: MTN Group Ltd. had its record fine in Nigeria increased $500 million to $3.9 billion after the country’s telecommunications regulator said it wrote the incorrect penalty in an earlier letter to Africa’s largest phone company. “There was a typo,” Nigerian Communication Commission spokesman Tony Ojobo said by phone on Friday, referring to a letter dated Dec. 2 that reduced the original $5.2 billion penalty to $3.4 billion. “The reduction should have been 25 percent. We saw the mistake and had to fix it.” MTN spokesman Chris Maroleng declined to comment. The shares traded 4.7 percent lower at 133.40 rand as of 10:39 a.m. in Johannesburg, the lowest since Nov. 17. MTN received a second letter on Thursday which superseded the first letter and increased the fine to $3.9 billion, the Johannesburg-based company said in a statement on Friday. The payment date is Dec. 31.

Jarus: We never thought of and we would never consider VI. VI is not for startups, but already well established companies.
I think Yaba, Surulere and Ikeja are ok for startups, but I think Yaba is the best for many reasons - it is closer to both Island and mainland, somehow central, a large concentration of middle class, hub of higher institutions (UNILAG, YABATECH, FCE etc).
Plus there is location economies due to its closeness to many other startups. Mark's Hotels.ng is there, Insidify is there, Jobmag is there etc. I can easily walk into any of them to have a chat with the founders and strike networking relationship etc

Education › Re: Nigerian Students And This Cohabitation Menace by coolluk(m): 1:24pm On Oct 30, 2015 |
omoarole: It's a free world. But that freedom has limits. And it also has repercussions. Cohabitation and relationships are not one and the same thing. Nobody asks you not to cohabit. But never blame whatever results on anyone but yourself. It was your decision, anyway. All over the world, cohabitation among students who live off campus is not unusual, both same sex and opposite sex. But these same societies usually have safety net policies, such that you're never left on your own to face the consequence. A lot of Nigerian students abroad cohabit. Some use it as a way to find a partner while on a student visa to have a relationship with that might improve their chances of a marriage or civil partnership that will earn them Permanent residence after school. Even though it is nobody's business how people run their lives as long as they are aware of what they are doing, reasons for cohabitation vary. The bottom line is KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND WHY YOU'RE DOING IT. Freedom has no limits, in as much they are not kids, they can the Bleep they want and live with the consequences if there are any. I didn't cohabit in school and i have no problem if some kid decides to do it. Doesn't affect my life and i highly doubt if it affects yours |

Christianity Etc › Re: 7 Type Of People You Will Notice When You Board A Church Bus To Service by coolluk(m): 10:00am On Oct 25, 2015 |
Decker: The People That Just Don't Care:
I was opportuned to be in a Winners Chapel church bus going to their head quarters in Ota one sunday morning and there were these two pretty girls all dressed up like they were going to a big event on the Island.
When everyone started singing and clapping, as was the winners tradition, these girls just acted like it didn't concern them. They kept on pressing their phones and chatting with each other. Even when the prayer session began, they didn't care.
Now, these girls were going to Canaan land. It's not like they were going somewhere else, so I didn't see why they should have acted the way they did.
It's seems at times, people just think that they are too big or too beautiful or too "high class" to participate in some certain activities and just like these two ladies, they fail to give God the honor and respect he deserves. Sparing just few minutes of your time to engage in the praise and worship that other members of the church you are attending are engaging in shouldn't be a difficult thing.
Although I have seen this just once, I have heard about other similar instances. I also believe there are other ladies/guys, perhaps here on Nairaland who still act this way and honestly, it's wrong on many levels. This is my clique, well I won't press ma phone or Chit chat, what is wrong Here is u not minding ur own bizness, it's a church ride not a mini service |

i just visited ur site and i saw ur idea but i want in your own words(cos every investor would ask you this)
1. In a sentence, what does your business do 2. What problem is it going to solve in the society 3. How is it going to make money 4. If you have competitors, what would your business do that they are not currently doing that would give you an advantage. In other words are you an innovator or copycat
Keep the flag flying |

croj: Well it depends on the kind of business you want to launch online? Can you share a little bit? You must also know that it's very easy to start creating a website, but not have a strategy to launch the business...As in begin to build buzz and interest even before you launch.. So think of having a launch strategy.. lol, if the issue is designing a website, i would easily do it on my street, i am creating an online platform that lets say helps customers to get some stuff done by us(sorry i cant disclose the idea yet), so basically i need a robust and functional web platform. And on the buzz aspect, when we launch, we will face that problem but for now its getting our website |

Let me open the floor.
Hi i am Uzoma and an aspiring start up founder. I already have developed the business model, the problem holding us back is the design of the website of the business bearing in mind that this is an internet startup, that's the most important part.
Well i have identified a guy who is a very good programmer and web designer and i am trying to woo him to design the website with the view of him being the CTO and also a co-founder with a 40 percent stake in the company.
Anyone with this experience or has a better solution can contribute. Thanx |
