PoliticsN150bn Presidential Jet,N5bn Yacht,other Lavish Spendings By Tinubu by coputa(op): 7:22am On Aug 23, 2024
Public outrage continues to trail the purchase of a new presidential jet by the Bola Tinubu administration.

The government’s decision to allocate over N150 billion for the purchase of the aircraft, at a time when Nigerians are grappling with a tough economic environment and a lingering cost of living crisis, has angered many.

Mr Tinubu’s policies of subsidy removal and exchange rate unification have led to increases in the prices of commodities, which experts believe are driving the current inflation.

The president has, in the past one year, urged Nigerians to bear with the hardship occasioned by those policies.

However, the government does not appear keen to follow its own counsel, as inflation currently stands at 33 per cent.

In this report, DAILY POST reviews some of the most lavish purchases under the current administration.

Presidential Jet

The Airbus A330, which replaced the 19-year-old Boeing B737-700(BBJ) bought under the presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo, reportedly cost the Nigerian government over $100 million.

It should be recalled that the government secured the approval of the House Committee for the purchase of this luxurious jet, which drew the ire of many Nigerians who have described the government’s action as insensitive.

Although the National Assembly claimed it is yet to appropriate money for the purchase, the president has already taken the jet for a flight to France.

Meanwhile, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has consistently maintained that he is ready to grant any approval requested to finalise the purchase.

“I don’t see how it is feasible that the topmost priority of a government dealing with the level of biting hunger and poverty in the land is to consider the purchase of a befitting aircraft for the president,” Oby Ezekwesili, a former minister, said during an appearance on Arise Television’s ‘Politics Today on Sunday.

Presidential Yacht

Last year, there was significant backlash against the government for the planned purchase of a presidential yacht.

In the 2023 supplementary budget of N2.17 trillion, President Tinubu proposed N5 billion for the procurement of a presidential yacht.

The uproar over the proposal led to the National Assembly declining the request and diverting the money towards other expenses.

However, according to several sources, the yacht had already arrived in the country at that point. The government has neither confirmed nor denied this.

DAILY POST learnt that the House of Representatives is putting pressure on the Navy to return the ship to the vendor.

N21 Billion House for Shettima

Another controversial expense since this administration took office is the reported N21 billion spent on the completion of the official residence of the Vice President.

The Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, prioritised the completion of the residential project despite other competing infrastructure projects needing attention.

But despite public outrage, the minister proceeded to complete and commission the project.

N160 Million Cars for National Assembly Members

Amid the current economic hardship, members of the National Assembly also received their share of the luxury with the purchase of luxurious Sport Utility Vehicles, which are believed to have cost N160 million per unit for members of the House.

It is unclear what the Senate received, but they are expected to get more.

While the House claimed that the vehicles are official cars to be returned at the end of the administration, DAILY POST learnt that some lawmakers opted for cash instead of the car.

N90 Billion Subsidy for Hajj

The government also spent N90 billion on the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It could be recalled that the devaluation of the naira led to a sharp increase in the cost of Hajj for the 2024 exercise, with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) forced to review the fee several times.

The government subsequently intervened with a N90 billion subsidy; however, that money is now the subject of multiple probes by different anti-graft agencies.

The Chairman of NAHCON, Jalal Arabi, and several other management staff were arrested by the EFCC over the alleged mismangement of the N90 billion subsidy.

N1.5 Billion Cars for Office of the First Lady

Nigerians have had a complicated relationship with the Office of the First Lady due to the overbearing nature of some of its occupants, who, despite being unelected, are notorious for intruding into governance.

There is also the cost associated with running the office, which is largely a ceremonial role.

In the 2023 supplementary budget, the government proposed N1.5 billion to buy vehicles for the office.

PoliticsPaying Obaseki In His Own Coin by coputa(op): 7:04am On Aug 23, 2024
NOW, let me address the right thinking people of Akoko-Edo as we approach the September 21 governorship election – the time appointed to pay Governor Godwin Obaseki back in his own coin, particularly for how he has treated the Akoko-Edo people since he came into office.

Let me clear the air – I have on my personal volition criticized the Governor for over seven and half years regarding his governance style and policies, but now it’s time for politics. My goal was to promote good governance, not because I resigned from his government. I must appreciate him – he engaged me as his Chief Press Secretary, but my supposed leaders fought against the appointment because they had a preferred candidate, whom the Governor rejected.

How my Husband died during our fight over another woman he impregnated - Beatrice, ex-convict0.00 / 0.00

Specifically, Obaseki appointed both his Chief of Staff, Chief Taiwo Akerele, and Chief Press Secretary, John Mayaki, from Akoko-Edo on the same day he was sworn in during his first tenure, which caused significant discontent in some quarters. They did everything to frustrate us out of government, but that’s not the discussion for today.

It was under this same Obaseki administration that another son of Akoko-Edo, Kabiru Adjoto, emerged as Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly. The helms-person of the State Universal Basic Education Board, the Executive Chairman of the Board, is Mrs. Ozavize Salami, and I am aware that some persons are unhappy with this appointment.

Today, Obaseki has also decided to pick our son, Omobayo Marvellous Godwins, as his Deputy Governor. All these appointments are the first of their kind in the history of our local government. Besides, there are several other appointments I would prefer not to mention here to avoid unnecessary scrutiny from those with ill intentions.

Someone might ask: is it only about appointing Akoko-Edo sons and daughters to government positions? Yes. Apart from the fact that Akoko-Edo has had its fair share of development under this administration, you need people at the table to attract the dividends of democracy to our local government area. I stumbled upon a video where Kabiru Adjoto led Edo North leaders to pay a thank-you visit to Governor Obaseki for the developmental projects in our senatorial district. He listed the projects until he was tired. The video exists, but now, because he didn’t emerge as the Deputy Governor, he has decided to seek his political future elsewhere. Of course, politics is all about free entry and exit. I wish him well.

Let’s not pretend. When a man does well, we must acknowledge it, and when he goes wrong, I will not pretend otherwise. Oh, Mayaki has eaten the forbidden fruit – the man who has been a thorn in Obaseki’s political flesh has capitulated. Yes. But also permit me to express the other side of Obaseki and not pretend.

Recently, one Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, EJ, was asked if Obaseki had done well by being the first to approve N70,000.00 as a minimum wage for workers. He dodged the question. At one point, he agreed, but again, he deflected, halting and prevaricating between two opinions. I pitied him; that’s what bad politics does – it forces people to speak with a forked tongue. The man died inside him for his inability to speak the truth even when confronted with the stark reality.

Leave poor EJ. Let’s address the main purpose of this article – we must pay Obaseki in his own coin. Of course, he’s not on the ballot, but we will appreciate him for showing us so much love and patronage. Ask Kabiru Adjoto how many billion-naira road projects came to Akoko-Edo when he held sway as Speaker and later as Special Adviser through Obaseki, including the road to his own village.

Now, that’s not all. Still under this same Obaseki administration, Akoko-Edo got a tertiary institution – the Edo State Polytechnic School of Mining and Management, Igarra Campus, now situated at the Igarra Technical College. Some may argue, blinded by bias, why not a full-fledged university if he truly loved Akoko-Edo? But I have a message for them. The now-renowned University of Ibadan started off as a college of the University of London in a special relationship scheme. It had its old site at Eleyele, but the University is now a comprehensive citadel of learning and one of the best in Africa. We must appreciate the days of small beginnings – we must appreciate Obaseki and pay him in his own coin.

Even more impressive is his choice of Deputy Governor – even if only for a week, Obaseki looked beyond his party, the PDP. He also looked beyond the legacy PDP. He went straight to the Labour Party – not from any other place but again, Akoko-Edo. He preferred a young man of about 38 years old, and don’t forget, this was the very man Philip Shaibu prayed for, saying: “You will be greater than me.” So, if God now answers Shaibu’s prayers upon His Excellency Marvellous Omobayo Godwins, why resent it?

Rather than join hands with the young man, some people believed it was their right, and since they were denied, they decided to abandon their exalted positions and become followers of those who have held Akoko-Edo down for so long. Some people now want to support Senator Monday Okpebholo, who said that if he were Asue Ighodalo, who served as the helmsman of Sterling Bank, he would flood the entire workforce with Esan people. For a man to show himself as nepotistic as Okpebholo, he must be rejected at all costs come September 21.

Today, with Omobayo Marvellous Godwins as the number two man in Edo State, a man who fate and providence have favoured, he has already appointed no fewer than 244 people from the local government – the first time in history. Today, there’s the approval to build a Forward Operational Base unit in Akoko-Edo, and this is apart from the teaching jobs, transformers, and several boreholes that have come to us – all within his very short period as Deputy Governor. I think we owe Obaseki our appreciation and a payback in his own coin because one good turn deserves another by Akoko-Edo sons and daughters in voting candidate Asue Ighodalo en masse irrespective of party affiliations, as a mark of appreciation to Governor Obaseki and for the sake of continuity.

PoliticsDelta State To Demolish Commissioner's House For Blocking Waterways In Ughelli by coputa(op): 5:31pm On Aug 22, 2024
The Delta State Government has earmarked for demolition, the house of Commissioner representing Isoko ethnic nationality at the Delta State Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Hon Victor Egbo for building on a waterways in Ughelli North Local Government Area.

This was revealed Wednesday by the Director of Special Duties and Chairman of Task Force on the removal of illegal structures and recovery of government land, Chief Frank Omare during the exercise in Ughelli, Delta State.

Omare warned that the Sheriff Oborevwori administration will take on anyone obstructing the exercise across the state.

According to him: “We have come to open the water blocked area because so many houses have blocked the water channels and glad to tell Deltans that one of the top government officials, Chief Victor Egbo is among the houses that would be brought down for the duration the exercise will last in Ughelli.

“I am glad that he knows the policy of government and if the house of Last Mugu will be brought down because it is built on the waterways, we are not going to spare anyone.

“The exercise has just begun and there are more swamp buggies that are coming and for the period the exercise is going to last, the people of Ughelli should cooperate as we will and cannot compromise.

“The governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, a very focused man has given us the directives and we will adhere strictly to the directives and we will not compromise them.

“I am pleading with Ughelli people never to bribe anybody, we are not compromising so that the water that is coming would not further destroy our properties because times are hard.

“We are not going to victimise anybody just as some house owners have done to the state government by building their houses inside water canals in other to block the flow of water.” He said.

On communities obstructing government activities, Omare emphasized that the Delta State government will not seek permissions from anybody being youth or community leadership to clear waterways.

“Importantly, the youths of Delta State, the community leaders, government cannot come and meet you to get permission from you to clear the waterway, we are not going to pay any kobo and we will not negotiate with it.

“And any youth or anybody that would want to stop the process we are going to visit that person, but I am glad that the people of Ughelli are cooperating.

“Those that had their buildings along the water channels, like the ShopFair should immediately remove them because when our Swamp Buggy comes, we will not look at anyone.” He warned.

Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government council, Olorogun Jaro Egbo also affirmed that exercise is part of his task of keeping Ughelli North clean and as the water is flowing, everywhere will be cleared.

“The task of keeping Ughelli North clean is a daily task and what is happening now is part of keeping the town clean and we have declared war on those trading and built on top of our drains for past one week.

“As it is now, we have declared a state of emergency on our drains, because all are blocked and we were shocked that ShopFair was built on top of the drain and that is why water is blocking that area.

Reacting to the news of the demolition of his building, Chief Victor Egbo said, I embraced the situation because I am a part and parcel of the MORE Agenda of government and as a commissioner, I should serve as an example.

“If I cannot lead for the rest to follow, it means I am setting a bad precedent for the people, it is painful but we must do what is right for our waterways to be cleared and opened to avoid flooding.

“I did not know that the building is on a water canal and when my attention was drawn to it, I have to call the Task Force Chairman, Frank Omare to come and remove it for the water to flow to its direction.

Today I am a victim because three of my buildings are affected but I have been assisting them by going around to show them where the water should flow as we cannot use our self-interest to punish others.

“Some of our buildings around the water canals are the major cause of the water rising during the rainy and flooding season and we cannot continue to punish the people.”
He added.

Finland to Nigeria: We're Handling Your Favorite Trouble-Maker—Just Hold the Pounded Yam!

The Finnish government announced on Tuesday that it has initiated actions in response to the Nigerian government's complaint against Simon Ekpa, a dual Nigerian-Finnish citizen. Ekpa has been accused of leading violent pro-Biafra secessionist campaigns in Nigeria's South-east region, an issue that has become a significant point of contention between Finland and Nigeria.

During a press conference in Abuja, the Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen, addressed the situation. She stated that the case against Simon Ekpa is now under the Finnish judicial system. Valtonen explained that Finland is working closely with Nigerian authorities and emphasized that the entire process would adhere strictly to the rule of law. She did not, however, provide specific details about the legal proceedings.

For years, Nigeria has been urging Finland and the European Union to take decisive action against Ekpa, whose social media activities have been linked to increasing violence and instability in Nigeria’s South-east. Ekpa, who styles himself as the "Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile," has openly claimed responsibility for numerous attacks on Nigerian security forces. He asserts that these actions are part of his efforts to restore a sovereign Biafra nation, echoing the sentiments that led to Nigeria's Civil War between 1967 and 1970.

From his residence in Finland, Ekpa has been advocating for extreme measures to enforce his vision, along with the vision of many other Igbo people, of a Biafra nation.

The Nigerian government has expressed frustration over Finland's perceived leniency, accusing it and the European Union of allowing Ekpa to continue destabilizing the region.

Valtonen, however, made it clear that Finland would handle the matter strictly within the confines of its legal system, insisting that the issue is not political but purely judicial. She stressed that Finland is committed to upholding the rule of law, and any actions taken will be guided by legal principles rather than political considerations.

The press conference was part of a broader visit by Valtonen and other Nordic ministers, including representatives from Sweden, Iceland, Norway, and Denmark, who were in Nigeria to discuss issues of mutual interest such as security, economic cooperation, education, trade, and investments. The visit marked the first time such a high-level group from the Nordic countries had traveled to Nigeria together.

In their meetings with Nigerian government officials and representatives of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Nordic ministers emphasized their commitment to strengthening relations with Nigeria and the broader West African region. They discussed a range of topics, including the rule of law, which was notably highlighted in the context of the Simon Ekpa case.

Valtonen's remarks at the press conference suggest that while Finland is aware of the sensitivities surrounding the case, it remains steadfast in its commitment to judicial due process. The Nordic delegation, after concluding their engagements in Nigeria, was scheduled to travel to Accra, Ghana, to continue discussions on trade and investment cooperation in the region.

The Finnish government's handling of the Ekpa case will be closely watched, not only by Nigeria but also by the international community, as it navigates the complex intersection of human rights, legal obligations, and international diplomacy. #tvauthority #tvauthorityhistory #tvauthoritypolitics

PoliticsFG Deploys 10,000 Agro-rangers To 19 States,fct To Combat Insecurity In Farms by coputa(op): 7:54pm On Aug 13, 2024
The Federal government through the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of 10,000 agro rangers across the country.

This is in a move to curtail insecurity across the food producing belt of the country which has negatively impact food production across the country in recent times.

The Special Assistant to President Tinubu on New Media, Olusegun Dada disclosed this in a post on his official X handle.

According to the statement, the agro-rangers initiative is a partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) noting that agro rangers will help protect farmers against malicious destruction of farmlands as well as farmer herder conflict.

The post reads, “As part of ongoing efforts to enhance food security in the Northern region and other parts of the country, the FG through the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps(NSCDC) has deployed over 10,000 Agro Rangers across 19 states and the FCT.”

“The Agro Rangers will, among other things; safeguard farmlands and protect farmers from escalating attacks, mediate conflicts between farmers and herders, and prevent malicious destruction of farmlands. While the food inflation crisis in the country is a function of many factors, insecurity has been a long term challenge and this collaboration between the NSCDC and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is expected to solve a major challenge faced by farmers across the country.”

The deployment of agro-rangers stems from earlier plans by the federal government through the National Economic Council (NEC) in February this year to establish agro-rangers as a short-term solution to the insecurity in the country pending when the long-term solution of state police is achieved.

Widespread insecurity, particularly in the northern region, has forced many farmers to abandon their lands, resulting in a significant decrease in food production and contributing to the rising food prices nationwide. Just last week, attacks on farming communities in Benue State, known as the nation’s food basket, led to the tragic deaths of over 20 people.

As of July 2024, food inflation has surged to 40.87%. In response, the federal government has floated the idea of establishing state police forces. However, this proposal cannot be implemented through executive orders or solely by an act of parliament from the National Assembly, even though the bill to create state police has already passed its second reading in the legislature.

Is Northern Nigeria Conspiring To Unseat Bola Tinubu?

The stupidest thing I have read or heard in 2024 is that the North is fighting President Bola Tinubu because they do not want a Southern President. That is as stupid as a man believing that his own mother is a witch who wants to kill him.

If your mother wanted to kill you, you would not have survived infancy. Killing a child is the easiest thing a mother can do undetected if that were her goal. Preventing Bola Tinubu from becoming President is the easiest thing Arewa could have done if that were her goal.

The Bola Tinubu Presidency is the baby, and the North is its mother, just like the Buhari Presidency was the infant and the Southwest, its mother.

Look, long before the election and primaries, Northern APC Governors gathered in Abuja on June 6, 2022, and said that though they had the delegate power to produce a Northern Presidential candidate for the All Progressive Congress, in the interest of unity, they would be giving a bloc vote to a Southern Presidential candidate.

And then look at the election result. Of the 8,794,726 votes that won Bola Tinubu the Presidency, 5,602,682 came from the North versus only 2,279,407 from the Southwest and a miserly 127,370 from the Southeast.

To cut a long story short, the North is the reason why Bola Tinubu is President today, and especially the Northwest, which gave him 2,652,235.

If the North was really serious about having a Northerner succeed Buhari, only Kano State alone can swing the election whichever way it wanted, Peter Obi or no Peter Obi.

So, my counsel to all those emergency political analysts now using the Russian flag incident to slander the North, is this: Shut up and go and join Gbajue people. You know who I am talking about, with their Arise TV!

There is no Northern plot to stop Tinubu. Whether Tinubu, Buhari, or Jonathan, it is human nature to protest the rise in fuel and food costs. It happens everywhere. In England, they are fighting immigrants because they blame them for the increase in prices, especially rent and food.

The Russian flag is just the result of contagion from Niger Republic, which shares a border with Arewa, and has now foolishly allowed itself to be placed under the Russian sphere of influence.

The Days of Rage protest is not a Northern insurrection against Tinubu. Please, do not take us back to the sixties and seventies.

There is now such a strong bond and mutual understanding between the core North and the Southwest. Let us nurture it and find ways to strengthen the link instead of sitting in Lagos and Ibadan and imagining all kinds of conspiracy theories against Hausa people (to some people, every Northerner is an aboki Hausa Malam).

People like Mallam Nasir el-Rufai are fighting for their personal interests, rather than the Northern interest. Without Buhari behind him, he cannot even galvanise his Local Government behind him to fight Tinubu, much more the whole of Arewa. Ignore him and his paid vuvuzelas, and let us build this new alliance for the sake of Nigeria.

I FULLY support the removal of fuel subsidy by President Tinubu. That policy was in our manifesto as the Peoples Democratic Party. As a confidante to then-President Jonathan, I also advised the removal of subsidy as far back as 2012.

All major presidential candidates in 2023, except Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, campaigned for subsidy removal. Peter Obi said it would go on day one if he was elected. I have posted the video of him saying so on my social media profiles. Today, he is saying another thing.

On this issue, President Tinubu has done nothing wrong. It is in the best interest of Nigeria for fuel subsidy to go. We cannot keep taking foreign loans to consume on fuel subsidy. Anybody who wants fuel subsidy to return is an enemy of Nigeria.

We asked the government to increase the minimum wage, and they have more than doubled it. We insisted they provide palliatives, and the Federal Government has done so. Alternatives to Premium Motor Spirits were introduced by way of Compressed Natural Gas engine conversion.

Your state governor has received almost double what they received under Buhari in one year under Tinubu. Go and hold them to account. Let them tell you what they have done with the money, since their wage bill did not increase.

Claiming that Peter Obi would have done better is clutching at straws because Peter Obi failed woefully as a two-term Governor in Anambra who could not build even one nursery, primary or secondary school, or university.

And when the 486 examination 'Miracle Centres' that flourished under him were closed due to pressure from the West African Examination Council, we saw how Anambra's so-called educational improvement gradually faded like the mirage it was. It was built on widespread FRAUD under Peter Obi.

Let us face reality. Fuel subsidy is gone. It will NEVER return. Instead, we will have tangible things, like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry trans-Nigeria Highway.

If you want the Naira to rise, stop patronising importers of foreign goods, like Peter Obi, the single largest individual importer of foreign goods in Nigeria. Instead, #GrowNairaBuyNaija and purchase made in Nigeria alternatives.

Use Glo instead of MTN. Eat Dangote spaghetti instead of imported Italian spaghetti from Peter Obi's Next Supermarket. Wear Aso Oke or Babanriga made with Nigerian textiles.

Rather than inciting Nigerians, Sowore should return from New Jersey and begin campaigning for the 2027 election. But he should mature from his policy of legalising marijuana (Igbo). When he brings a realistic agenda, he may be able to persuade more than the 14,608 out of almost 30 million votes that were counted.

Dear brethren,

We the Itsekiris have a proverb that say, if a man puts a lie in front of his mouth, the truth will come out through the sides of the same mouth. The dialogue about WARRI continues to shock many of our neighbours as, they begin to learn more about the Itsekiri history.
A history many of their parents refused to tell them. The Urhobos and Ijaws have written about how they founded their various communities like Ughelli, Orerokpe etc and the ones Ijaws founded in Bayelsa. But no Ijaw or Urhobo historian, have ever written a history of how they founded Warri, and their kingdoms which they claim to be there. You can verify on Google or anywhere.
Can you own a land without having historical evidence of how your ancestors founded it?
This is where they often go mute.
Only the Itsekiris have a documented history of how they founded Warri. The Benin people are also a custodian of this Itsekiri history.

Now, we want to delve a little into Itsekiri history, and bring out an ancient encounter that saw how Ode itsekiri (Big Warri) became the capital of Warri Kingdom.

Olu Ginuwa the 1st left Benin , a proud prince on his way to go found his kingdom. On his way, along with his entourage, he encountered the Ijaws and even dwelt with them. He then married an Ijaw woman called Derumo.
But Derumo was a woman with a quick tongue. Then one day, feeling secured in the midst of her brethren, she used her tongue too freely on Ginuwa. And Ginuwa killed her. She had not yet had any children for him.
Her death provoked her Ijaw kinsmen into an altercation with the Benin Prince and his entourage. For this reason, Ginuwa left and continued till he got to Ijala, after a brief stay at Amatu, a barren island.
By this time, he had become the father of two sons. IJIJEN and IRAME.
Olu Ginuwa joined his ancestors at Ijala, and his heir succeeded him, and became known as Olu Ijijen. It is for this reason all Olu's of Warri are buried at Ijala. And Olu Ijijen succeeded his father, while still a very young man

After Olu Ijijen (1510-1525) the first warrior king of Warri, had taken the oat and pledge of allegiance and loyalty from the Itsekiri people, he decided to take a tour of the various Itsekiri towns. This was what brought him to Ode-Itsekiri. As at this moment, Ode itsekiri had not yet been chosen as the capital of the kingdom. But when he got there, the women of ode itsekiri greeted him with long faces and without fanfare, as it had been in the previous Itsekiri communities he had first toured. And all around, he heard the people murmuring in whispers around him.
When he inquired what the problem was, he was told that the people were grumbling that they can not be paying tax to two tax masters.
Because a certain man called Olague had put a burden of huge taxes on the Itsekiris of ode itsekiri.
Olu Ijijen then asked the people, to take him to the man they called Olague. When the Olu got there, he met Olague and said to him, I am Olu Ijijen, ruler of these lands, and i hear you collect tax from these people. By whose authority do you collect tax from them?
But Olague gave no reply. He entered his quarters and commanded the Mahin warriors with him, to kill Olu Ijijen and the Itsekiri warriors that had come with him.
And this was how the war began between the Itsekiris and Olague with his Mahin forces. One of Olague Mahin warriors shot Olu Ijijen with a poisoned arrow on his shoulder, just above his chest.

But the rugged young king, bleeding, with the arrow still pinned on his chest, along with the Itsekiri warriors with him, fought back and chased Olague and his Mahin forces out of Ode itsekiri. This was how the war between the kingdom of Warri, and Olague with his Mahin warriors began. It would later include the Aworis and the Benin people in alliance with Warri kingdom.
On several occasions previously, Itsekiri youths in Ode itsekiri had rebelled against Olague because of his high handedness and heavy taxes. But Olague had them killed by his Mahin warriors, and he caught many of those who tried to escape, tied them together and set them ablaze before the town, despite the pleas and cries from their parents.
Olague was a cruel and ruthless tyrant who held the people in his grip with an Iron fist. And the Itsekiris of Ode itsekiri lived in fear of him.

After Olu Ijijen had chased Olague out of Ode itsekiri, the people of Ode itsekiri began to rejoice. This was how the appellation "OGBOWURU" which the Itsekiris use to hail their king came into existence. The young king had become like a super star. The young men of the town brought out the drums and gongs and played joyful rhythms,as the elderly men and women celebrated their libration. The young maidens took to the streets of Ode itsekiri dancing and singing, chanting the name of the young king. Calling him OGBOWURU, meaning, CONQUEROR.
But behind all these celebrations going on in the capital, the young king, surrounded by his warriors and medicine men, lay dieing, slowly from the injury of the poisoned arrow, as his medicine men worked tirelessly trying to save his life. The injury also prevented him from having a heir and also, prevented him from continuing his tour of other Itsekiri communities as he had earlier planned. He had to remain in Ode itsekiri to prevent Olague from ever returning, as other Itsekiris from other communities poured into ode itsekiri to come be around their ailing king, and to increase the Itsekiri war force, incase Olague returned to try and re-take the town. This was the foundation of how ode itsekiri became the capital of Warri.

But Olu Ijijen never recoverd from the injury. Before his death, he requested that he be buried at Ijala beside his father, Olu Ginuwa the 1st.
He eventually died in 1525 and his remains was taken to Ijala and laid by his father. As it has been the tradition of the Itsekiris to bury their kings at Ijala, even till today. His younger brother ascended the throne, and was crowned, Ogiame, Olu Irame. And because Olu Ijijen had died on the soil of ode itsekiri, it became sacrosanct that Ode itsekiri should never fall to Olague or any foreign enemy.
And Olu Irame had to rule the kingdom from Ode itsekiri and swore vengeance on Olague. So began the tradition that all Itsekiris kings must be crowned at Ode Itsekiri This was how ode itsekiri became the capital of

Our neighbours who claim to own Warri should also present their own history of how their ancestors founded Warri.

Ogbowuru!

Joe Biden has just done what Peter Obi ought to have done in 2023. Peter Obi had no chance in 2023, and has even less of a chance in 2027 after his misadventure where he lied that a subsisting court verdict ordered the release of Nnamdi Kanu and his leaked 'Yes Daddy' audio.

Peter Obi's only function in 2023 was as an ungrateful character, blinded by ambition, who chose to bite the hand that fed him, which led him to contest against Waziri Atiku Abubakar and, by so doing divided the opposition vote. If Obi had not contested the #NigerianElections2023, Atiku would have won.

He should have summoned the courage and patriotism to his country, as well as loyalty to his party, that President Biden has now shown.

Sadly, I feel so personally responsible due to my role in making that ingrate Waziri Atiku's running mate in 2019. May God forgive me. I sincerely and penitently apologise to Waziri Atiku Abubakar. I thought I knew the man.

Peter Obi watched the APC defeat a united opposition. He saw this and then went ahead and still divided the opposition in 2023. If united, we could not beat them, how could we have managed it divided?

Greedy, over-ambitious, desperate, slippery, and highly manipulative. Peter Obi, Arise TV and Obi's media team are DIRECTLY in control of the influencers who insult, abuse, and threaten others for not supporting Peter Obi on social media. He tells them who to attack.

Just imagine! A man who could not build even one nursery, primary, secondary or university, a man under whom Onitsha became the dirtiest place on planet Earth, with the worst pollution, according to the World Health Organisation, a man under whom hundreds of young men were being killed and their bodies dumped into the Ezu River. A man under whom doctors went on strike for thirteen months. Who bought 400 SUVs for Anambra igwes, then hypocritically criticised the National Assembly for buying 400 cars for Legislators.

This is the same man who tried to pull the wool over the eyes of Nigerians, claiming he was a better choice than Waziri Atiku.

Contest in 2027. If you get up to the votes you got in 2023, I vow to retire from politics permanently!
