VeeVeeMyLuv: what is preventing Nigeria from rising now? Do our leaders don't like better things? Just look at the neat tidy well constructed roads! What is wrong in having all roads in Nigeria look so tidy like this?
Nawa! Bros will Baba landlord that built his house blocking the street in Lagos allow such ? Or will you commuters that drink Pepsi in hold up and throw the bottle on the floor allow such ?. Forget Government first, do you imagine the Nigerian populace maintaining such developments if the government enacts it ? |

Omo ale ni e . You know the meaning of the name Olofin right. You are the stark opposite. babaolofin: You are a bastard. You and the little girl are animals. I am too old and exposed to comment on junks on social media. I spent 6 years in a Federal University in the South East and knows your barbaric and propaganda behaviors.
A NANS member from Abia State died at Lekki Tollgate while Eniola Badmus was not at the Tollgate. You are fools.
My late uncle, Segun Okeowo led Ali Must Go protest as a president of the National Union of Nigeria Students, NUNS in 1978. NUNS name was changed to NANS after proscription. Omoyele Sowore who was UNILAG SUG and NANS leader in his days as student in Lagos cannot come out to tell the world the names of Unilag, LASU, UI, IFE and other great institutions in the volatile South West region whose student(s) died at Lekki Tollgate, but NANS Abia faction left OBIGBO (Oyigbo) in Rivers state which is just 5 minutes drive to Abia State to tell us their member died at Lekki Tollgate. Anybody in IBO land that died or wounded now happened at Lekki Tollgate.
That girl (DJ Death) is too small. Her type should have been used as sacrifice to gods. The major culprit here is Gani Adams and his thugs and area boys who contribute nothing to Yoruba race other than becoming nuisance to people in the area where they operate. I also blame traditional rulers whose only contributions is to marry many wives and give unuseful chieftancy titles to useless individuals. |

I agree with you sir. But about the paradigm shift you speak of ? I await 2023 to see evidence of that. ceaser: Really, I do not support it's reduction, what I support is complete removal/eradication of it. The dude above trying to justify pensions for public servants because civil servants gets paid pension is getting it all twisted. Politicians are public servants, that is quite different from civil servants, the latter having worked for 35 years deserve to be taken care of in their old age, but in Nigeria pensions and gratuities are conveniently owed as arrears running into months and years until these pensioners die from/in penury.
The same government has conveniently made laws to institutionalise the anomaly and illegality of paying pensions to public servants who serve less than a decade, during a time they wield powers that enriched 'em beyond imagination and at the expense of the civil servants and the generality of the population. That is great mischief.
As per it being a political move to clean/launder the image of the average Lagos politician, yes I concur. If a Nigerian politician decides to eat in your presence or decides to enter the same public transport as you do, it is definitely image laundering. Politicians mixing with the people they govern is not normal in Nigeria unlike in sane countries where even the presence of a political figure on a public bus does not cause any stir.
But I tell you that if they like, they should even stop collecting their own salaries, that still would not change the impression that people already have about them. The hoarding of palliatives was an eye opener to even their strong supporters who painfully realized that the same politicians they'd kill for will not flinch if they die of hunger.
A new awakening was created with that discovery. It may not be a strong deciding force, but it is a paradigm shift from before. The people do not trust the government before, the events of October 2020 have only deepened that distrust and no amount of image laundering by the government or any politician will alter the mindset of the people. |

You’ve hit the point sir It’s a political move to clean the image of Nigerian politicians most especially Lagos. Don’t be surprised to see some of them counting it as part of an achievement come next election dumodust: Then why not reduce it drastically? This complete removal looks purely politically motivated to me and reeks of hypocrisy on the part of Lagos. The issue has always been that the pension was too much, why abolish it? Why not just revert to something affordable for the state... Smh. We applaud nonsense till it gets to us, maybe our parents that are permanent secretaries shouldn't get pension too on retirement |

I’m hoping you’re not a clown like the rest of these people or else I’m just wasting my time cos you don’t attempt to have intellectual conversation with a zombie. Now analyze it with me. You like in a totalitarian country whereby freedom of speech is being repressed , rights are being taken away , and your own government is shooting at you. Do you think it will be safe for you to come out and speak knowing that immediately you speak , the freedom and the life of yourself and everybody you care about is immediately placed in jeopardy. I was at Lekki I saw the shooting So to hell with anybody else’s version of the event, you cannot relate. CaptainMarvel: Ok. If the association is certain that their member was a victim, then they, or the family should most importantly get a lawyer, and then bring it to social media. They stand a better chance at getting justice and their names should be the one trending not this lady. All we hear is lekki massacre and dj switch. What of the Victims? even if she really wants to speak, then her effort should be to reach out and identify the victims, then fight in their names and Identity cos what she's doing now is more of a celebrity PR clout or a dire desire to fetch her the assylum she seeks |

You are all children of hate and discord. What is hurting me is that as long as bastards like you and the rest of your fake accounts continue to exist there will always be division in the land babaolofin: National Association of Nigerian Students, Abia State confirmed one of their comrades died at Lekki Tollgate while Obigbo or Oyigbo in Rivers State is just five minutes drive to Abia State. I don't blame the IBOs, the liberal and simplicity mindsets of Yoruba people coupled with internal tension and political dichotomy since Awolowo / Akintola era gave the IBOs the space to execute their vendetta on Lagos and their arch enemy.
Immediately after the destruction their chiefs and governors went into marathon meeting that lasted for two days. They are very excited. They have won the first battle, the next line of action is to quickly strategise to consolidate on that victory.
That girl is too small. Her type should have been used as sacrifice to gods. The major culprit here is Gani Adams and his thugs and area boys who contribute nothing to Yoruba race other than becoming nuisance to people in the area where they operate. nzeobi: If you ask me this is just a populist agenda. Paying an ex governor around 500 k monthly with a five bedroom house, a car every 8 years and taking care of his medical bills won't make a state go bankrupt. While I disagree with the amount ex lagos governors earn, it's not wasteful to take care of our ex governors. If it was 500k a month then it would be acceptable but I think the amount is circa 7 million , a car change every 3 months and houses in both state of residence and Abuja. Compound that with the fact these people still have the first pick of government contracts and still have their tentacles in the corridors of power , then the pension is simply too much. |

CaptainMarvel: But how come we are yet to identify those who supposedly died in the massacre? No friends or families have been able to mention one person they lost. All we hear is Lekki massacre. We all agree this current govt is a failure, but peddling fake news isn't just right If nah you , you go come out ? Are you a Nigerian at all , don’t you know what must have been done to suppress the voices if these people ? Even the National association of Nigerian students Abia state faction confirmed that one of their comrades was part of the casualties, and that was a very big faux pas on their part. |
Education › Re: An Analysis Of One Of ASUU's Selfish Demand by Corona22: 12:04am On Nov 09, 2020 |
But is their demand not necessary ? Are you not tired of having sub par education and disillusioned lecturers that don’t enjoy their job engrfcuksmtin: A Brief Perspective On Profligacy: a case of comparative view
"We can't meet ASUU's Demand".....Ngige, Daily Trust, 5 November,2020.
This sounds as one of the usual blackmail or propaganda against ASUU, does it not?
Before you get confused, ask yourself which of the ASUU demands is the FG represented here by the Hon Minister referring to? He is referring to one of ASUU's demands for revitalization of Nigeria's Universities which is estimated to cost N110bn for now.
Again before you think this money will go to the pockets of ASUU members, the money is for upgrading of teaching and research facilities including buildings in all the federal Universities which total stands at 73 in number.
Now divide 110 by 73 = 1.507 meaning ASUU is asking the FG to inject the sum of N1.507bn for upgrading facilities in each of her Universities to bring it to standard. This is the money the Hon Minister is telling you the FG cannot meet as ASUU demand. Just think over it.
The Poser and the profligacy
How many of you reading this piece have been to the National Assembly Complex? I have never visited the place, but I am told it is a good building. The NASS building complex is relatively much younger and smaller in size than most of our individual Universities. Do you recall that the FG budgeted (or is it released) the sum of over N37bn for the renovation of NASS building complex? Yes, over N37bn for a single building complex that is not even dilapidated compared to our university facilities. What is more, the NASS building complex houses able-bodied personalities that do not add up to 400 in number compared to the populations of our students in each university. It has been reported that majority of those individuals in NASS have allegedly never sponsored a single bill to improve the lives of Nigerians. Compare this scenario to our Universities that each houses tens of thousands of our students apart from the staff. For example, the lecturers are required to carry out research and publish same of their findings or else they stagnate. Yet, at the NASS where humongous sum is spent, whether one sponsors a bill or not, is nobody's business. How do you justify this economic paradox where much is given but less expected and vice versa?
Therefore, the statement coming from the FG through the Hon Minister, may at best be regarded as propaganda or blackmail against ASUU. Unfortunately, the money is not going into ASUU coffers but for the benefit of the students at large. What ASUU is simply telling FG is to prioritise its spending profiles in order to invest on the training of our youths.
Therefore, before you criticise ASUU, just take a visit to any of the public universities nearest to you and inspect the facilities. Your position against ASUU may likely change. Edited.
B. B. Bukar University of Jos
Just in case, ENDSARS damaged some properties in Lagos last month, this month (1 month after) they are proposing N1 trillion for rebuilding . This is for Lagos State alone, FGN is about giving them (if not given already). Yet ASUU is begging FGN for more than 10 years now, yes, more than 10 years for N1.1 trillion for 73 universities, they said they don't have money to spend on Education, so they keep the youths, our students on the streets and home. OK give only N110 billion for the 73 universities so that schools can be reopen, they say no money. Hmmmm Nigeria and value system. |

Ceenelly: sir what do you want them to end, is it sars or police, if SARS it has ended since 11/10/2020 You’re missing the point. The reason people agitated for the dissolution of SARS itself was because they were the worst. The main problem is police brutality. You want to tell me you have not seen or heard a case whereby a member of the force will just stop your car because you refused to settle them Sars or no sars ?. Or policemen that will just come and make arrest because one rich man somewhere reported you ? Are you a Nigerian? Better still are a Nigerian youth ? Biggest question is Are you a Nigerian youth living in the south ? |
