Yes. You can. If you are lucky to find tailors on camp, altho their prices are cut throat. Otherwise, you'd just have to wait till after camp.

I am extremely angry with you guys at Nairaland. Why are you fond of closing my threads unnecessarily? Mo sher yiin nii? It's not like I'm violating any of your rules? I dnt use vulgar or obscene words. I dnt post controversial topics. I adhere strictly to your rules. Yet you close my thread unjustly. This is so not fair, considering my commitment and dedication to your site. I can't even count the number of people I've introduced this site to. For every ratings you get, I believe I'm one of those who helped push it up. It's supposed to be a platform for intelligent conversations ( which I obey). Perhaps you need to spell out your hidden terms and conditions.

I must say it's quite embarrassing when I see the red "thread closed" on my posts. I've seen a number of controversial topics that weren't closed, so whats my own offence?

I won't be surprised if you completely close my NL account because of this, infact, I'm expecting it. But at least I've had my say. Just know that you have lost a a very loyal netizen in me.

Top 10 tips for NYSC corpers.

1) DO NOT LAMINATE your call-up letter! If you do, you are on your own.And you better keep it like its your life. People have been sent back because they forgot theirs. I've also heard of a lady who had to beg and beg before her letter was collected because she laminated her own copy ( I wonder who send her). So please avoid all these stress. Also, ensure you make enough copies of this letter.

2) The forms that will be handed to you at the registration point are very easy to fill. Attach your passport where necessary and fill them accurately. After your registration, you will be issued with your State Code Number. This will serve as your PIN throughout your Service Year.

3) After getting your NYSC State Code Number, you can then proceed to go get your NYSC Kit and Mattress, after which you can proceed to get a room, once you have secured a place in the hostels, ensure your things are safely placed together.

4)Your NYSC kit should contain 1 NYSC Crested Vest, A pair of Khaki Trousers, Cap and Jacket, 2 White T-shirts, 2 Pairs of Knickers, 2 pairs of green-stripped Stockings, A pair of Orange Jungle Boots and a pair of White canvass. A “Belt” is also included...But dnt worry, apart from the crested vest,cap and orange jungleboot, you won't be needing the others. It's safer you have your own items.

5) You wont be allowed to leave camp. So make sure you aren't cash stranded, trust me it’s not a good idea. Yes, you could take your ATM card along, just incase sha,altho this might sound counter-intuitive since there might not be any ATM in camp and you are not even allowed to leave camp.

6) Do not carry more than 2 pairs of colored clothes because you wont need it either.You can take 2 sets of casual wears for Sunday and camp fire night.You will be provided with 2 pairs of white T-shirts and shorts in camp but like I advised, it's safer to go with yours .So you don't end up getting disappointed, on the other hand you even get to spend way more to purchase them on camp.

7)Ladies, go with at least 2 black spandex tights and black spag. Colored panties will be too conspicuous under the white tops and bottoms. And trust me, guys will take pictures. Dnt be victims of their tease. A word is enough for the...

8 ) A pair of shoe and socks is okay. It is advisable to have a white rubber shoe that is easy to clean, especially when camp falls on rainy season.

9) Pack as light as you can, and make sure your box is well secured and theft proof. The experience is bitter.

10) Best way to make friends fast and easy on camp? Go with well made Ijebu Garri. You will be popular in no time. Lols.

Most importantly, Orientation Camp is not hell jor, it's actually fun. You will meet new people, make new friends. You will see our Military in action. You will respect their arrogance. You will see them in their elements. You will love their patriotism. You will Admire the Nigeria Military. And their uniforms? You will love it too. Especially when they are in their complete.
Nysc is a call to serve. Go with the call...

Things You Need To Take To NYSC Orientation Camp.

A Lot of people have been asking me what and what to take to camp,hence this write-up. Here are the important things you need to take along with you to orientation camp,so that you don’t get stranded and helpless.

Requirements for Registration

Just like any other place,registration is the first and most important thing at the orientation camp. At the registration point, you are expected to provide the following things:

Official NYSC Camp Requirements :

1. Your final year Student ID Card
2. Notification of Result from your School (Original and Photocopies)
3. Passport Photograph (Take as many copy as you can but you will only need a few)
4. Your original call-up letter (This will be taken and not returned to you, take photocopies along too)

Daily Needs.

Round Neck white T-shirts.
White shorts.
Plain white sneakers.
White socks.
Mosquito nets( Trust me, you will thank me for this).
Padlocks ( strong original ones).
Waist Pouch.
Beverages (milo,milk,butter,sardine, flakes).
Detergent.
Antiseptics( dettol, savlon,)
Toiletries ( Tissue, bathsoap, toothpaste, sanitary pad, shaving stick,toothbrush)
Slippers.
Towel.
Bedsheets.
Sunglasses.
Extra phone battery or power bank.
Bucket and bailer (can be purchased on camp).
Handkerchief or Face towel.( trust me, you need this one plenty, lol).

STATIONERY: PEN, PAPER, GUM, TIPPEX. You will need these, having yours saves time and lots of unnecessary begging.

BASIC DRUGS: such as Panadol or paracetamol, flagyll, eyedrops,medicine for your allergies, menstrual pain relief drug, Clotrimazole cream, nausea relief drugs, antibiotics e.t.c. Most camp clinic are sometimes inadequately stocked with drugs, it's best you have these things.

CASH: Extremely important.You would need about N10,000- N15,000 for those that can manage. Then between N20,000 – N30,000 to be comfortable. Truth is,there are lots of things that take up money. Things like food (for those who don’t intend eating camp food), drinks, recharge cards, charging of phones, laundry, pleasures e.t.c

Yeah right..lol, I wanted to look hot and different when I arrived the venue.I wanted to stand out, shebi I've alwas been an icon of style, here was another opportunity to make them talk again..and the style,it looked so good in my head, I had visualised how attractive I'd look, how my friends will admire and tell me they like my style..i loved the style already in my head..until the tailor sowed it. It was disaster, the back line was disjointed, the crotch was dangling, the off shoulder style was not it, and to cap it all, I looked like a masquerade when I first tried it on.. I didn know who to blame, the velvet, the style, myself or the tailor.. eventually, to cut the long story short.. cloth, I couldn't wear, wedding I no fit go..now as I clear my wardrobe for the year, I stumble upon that mistake of a style..im about to trash it..but then,i felt I should share the story.. I would never ever commit this blunder again..

My people, I heard from a reliable online source that NYSC has decided to hold only 2batches in 2015,BatchA in May,and batchB in september...

The director general of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig. Gen. Johnson Olawumi, sometimes latsmonth said that, despite the deadly attacks on corps members during the 2011 election, they will be deployed for election duties across the country during the 2015 election.(an online source).

Altho, he has assured that adequate security measures are been taken to safegaurd the lives of every corper enlisted.

According to him, it is the decision of the Federal Government to deploy corps members for the exercise,  saying the agreement with the Independent National Electoral Commission over the issue..(online source)
